RE: ASX Announcement 22 May 2024: Kingsrose and BHP Enter Nickel/Copper Exploration AlliancesToday 11:21
Thanks to Ashton for posting this - its a great example of what happens to a junior miner and how long-term shareholders are often treated. The shine has already come off the news that BHP will be stumping up loads of money to further projects - the price has already fallen by 15% from the spike caused by that news and looks set to fall further. But surely BHP involvement was great news? Well, at least Kingsrose maybe able to fight another day but it looks increasingly like Kingsrose may end up with no more than the 2% net smelter royalty - not the expected return from all the hype given to the shareholders throughout the years, by RM in his tenure too. The minimum BHP will earn is 75% of the JV but if Kingsrose fail to match subsequent investments by BHP dollar for dollar they will be diluted. If their share of the JV drops below 10% they only get the 2% royalty. I don't think the company will be in any position to match BHP financial input - its losses from operating expenses are huge and set to continue.
Any money from this JV is unlikely to materialise for several years and when it does Kingsrose will struggle to retain its share above the 10% threshold. Why should such a s**tshow as Jay be able to negotiate any better deal?
