" I heard people saying "
what we hear depends largely on what we read ....and we can read arguments both for Bear view and Bull view
The Bears want everyone to be scared and not brave ...the fewer buyers there are, the less sellers will get for their shares when they capitulate on all the fears ...that is how the bears operate
Bears sell small number of shares on down days to get a 2-3-4+% drop - which can hit the paper losses of bigger holders hard and weaken them more of course
Back on the agenda is some talk of another 0.75% FED rise in July - all talk and speculation of course
Joe, I rate the CEO here fwiw, he got the company by
the scruff of the neck following MS's departure,
driving through efficiencies and synergies.
That being said, he can't walk in water and advertising is
cyclical.
The wider UKX could easily fall another 10 Plus,
so expect lots of stocks to be available lower down.
My current strategy is to buy small amounts of what I like
on down days, rather than attempting to time large buys
near a bear market trough. which unfortunately I'am not able to do.
Good fortune.
Yeah I'm probably miles out. I heard people saying there's probably another year of this bear market to go and at least another 30% drop in markets to go, so yeah lots of opportunities. Though not sure about an advertising company in these climates. I got it in my head mines (gold/lithium/silver/copper) are the future and energy companies, so moved my money out of here a few days ago.
Bloody hope not Joe as I added today!.
I can't in all honesty click a Buy as markets are just
too volatile and we are in all likelihood now in a bear market -
MCX already there and pretty sure the UKX will follow.
In terms of under £4 a share, something quite cataclysmic would
need to occur, their 40% remaining share in Kantar is conservatively
worth £3 BN plus alone (although never say never etc!) - all in my view I should stress.
I'm 53% invested atm and don't feel brave enough to go much above that atm,
so hopefully opportunities over the next few months.
Recession looks pretty much nailed on now, what a change
in 6 months.
I was playing around with charts and with my very limited knowledge my prediction is, by April 2023 we'll be around £3-£2.50
This is getting cheaper by the day- but advertising spend concerns in the sector, due to the economic slowdown
yeah thanks for the advice....i mainly hold ftse 100 stock with a good dividend yield but since the pandemic things have gone slightly awry....but tend to keep hold and not sell am a bit heavy in Vodafone so looking to off load half when the time is right have a couple of funds and a couple of ftse 250 although one has just been brought out GLO not happy as think there worth more then the price being paid saying that have made a hefty profit from that one....so have funds to invest elsewhere....suggestions would be most welcome
sotonspike
I don't know your experience level...but you need to study things for at least 18 months to get a grip of all the "goings on" in this game :-) ...and it is a game ..don't try and be too logical with it all.....
" some times more shares are brought then sold and the stock goes down and vice a versa most odd"
no...they are only sold BECAUSE the share price has gone down...the buyers only bought when the price dropped and the sellers agreed to accept less.... each buy/sell is a trade ( more or less) ..... the buy/sell blue/red is actually a software nonsense
Good news for holders is that WPP are buying back shares at good value now.
cheers for that Poker.....Does make me wonder sometimes this stock market thingy.....some times more shares are brought then sold and the stock goes down and vice a versa most odd....
sotonspike,
Google prices often throw a wobbly after close - 875.60p was the closing UT
whole advertising sector hit today ..."fears" on advertising/marketing revenue after comments from the US ..and Snapchat comments - Snapchat - down 40% .. Twitter, Alphabet, Meta etc - down too
WPP - down 9.3%
S4 Capital - down 8.04%
Reach - down 5.3%
ITV - down 4.87%
I am just watching this one - good company but macro headwinds for now
Just googled wpp share price and closing price is 935.17 not sure what that's all about but answers on a postcard would be most welcome
Of course not. Because some fellow on the THG board writes "wpp down 9 % today on NO news - wonder if something's (an offer) about to drop" (whatever that means), doesn't make it true. Goodness!
Someone just mentioned on THG board Is WPP in play for THG?!?
One never totally believes the things websites say but: -
Simply Wall Street
Say its value is £27.30, Trading at 65% below our estimate of its fair value
Earnings are forecast to grow 19.6% per year
Dividend in 15 days
I wish I knew why it’s suddenly dropped so much. I have topped up a bit to lower my average.
GLA & DYOR
Yep, Year Low is in. Time to top up.
Blimey, just gone under 900p. That's a sharp fall on no news!
I guess WPP is a bit of a bet on the macro, and that's looking worse and worse by the day.
It had! - as per the late Friday RNS
Has WPP got any presence in Russia?
Fastest organic revenue growth in 20 years.
Very strong FY 22 outlook.
Approx 7% of the companies shares being bough back for
cancellation over the next 12 months.
Forward multiple approx 13 x - conservative estimate.
This multiple does Not allow for the value of their 40% Kantar stake,
which is likely now worth £4 bn plus.
Strip that value out and WPP is under 10 x.
WPP PR JV is also future value to be realised,
that business growing at double digit year on year revenue.
Unless you consider another recession or bear market looms,
looks great longer term value - all imv, please DYOR as always.
Nice jump lately. Results on 24th Feb.
Deutsche Bank raises WPP price target to 1,400 (1,000) pence - 'buy'
Uncle_Doug.....the LLoyds Mr Meerkat winner.....yes i know what your thinking about cashing in i'm in the same boat my average is £9.51 but willing to hang on.... think this has some way to go...and hopefully the divi will rise accordingly maybe after the results come out we'll have a better idea of where this heading ...having a good day as hold gsk as well
Very good progress. Where will it all end? Thinking about cashing in to be honest.
