Time to load up on this one. Will definitely be a volatile next 6 mths. GLA
Spot on. There is a lot of M&A, licence chasing and consolidation going on in this space in the USA at the moment. This is why the WEB share price is just going to carry on rising over the next 12 months. It is certainly possible that Webis could multi bag quite easily to 40p in the run up to sports betting being given the OK in California & or ongoing M&A activity in the sector. As the Times article indicates it is clear that Webis is in the right place at the right time. This is what Denham Eke, Webis Chairman, said on the issue:
"USA regulated gaming is seen as the hottest subject at present in global gaming, and something of a gold rush both in the USA and, indeed, internationally. Non-USA and certain European companies are experiencing severe regulatory issues, as well as margin problems, and appear almost desperate to be a part of the developments in the USA. As a result, it should come as no surprise that WatchandWager continues to be courted by large corporations, and indeed smaller operations with a view to software deals, strategic alliances, mergers or even outright acquisition opportunities. Principally led by our Managing Director, the Board assesses each opportunity on a case-by-case basis. It should be noted in the majority of instances, the Board takes the view that "they need us more than we need them" and we continue to protect our USA licensed presence as a core asset. We are very aware of the increased consolidation in the industry and the economies of scale of strategic partnerships and will keep shareholders aware of any meaningful strategic developments with the Group, most likely in the USA, but possibly with international partnerships" -
Good luck, Brighty
it would be nice if they gave us an update as to what they are actually doing or planning to do with the licences. I don't think they are using them. The California Sports betting legislation is a ways off but there must be background stuff going on.
I am not sure we will have to wait until November, I think there will be some very productive news a lot sooner than that. My gut feeling is that we will be bought out or merge with somebody before then, the share is just so cheap. As more states allow gambling, it can only add to our business model. This is a bet to nothing, the company stacks up as a viable business and should grow significant irrespective of what happens in California, that is just the big icing on the cake. Remember this share has been at almost 7 pence in the last year, any return to those levels even makes for a very sizeable profit. The thing that stands out with this share is that hardly anybody seems to be selling, everyone is sitting tight atm which bodes very well
Looks like a decent top up Poppers. Very quiet board this one .
Maybe positive news from California about to land! I know the decision isn’t until November but there might be some positive sentiment over there.
I could not resist buying another 5 grand at 2.68 today was going to wait until the 5th and put in my isa but thought I would top up. FOMO springs to mind, I have this feeling atm buy whilst they are really cheap!
More positive news for Webis today via its RNS... "WatchandWager secures approval to extend lease at Cal Expo. Cal Expo landlord approves extension of lease to 2030 in Sacramento, California"
"The Board believes cementing its position in California as a Racing and Gaming operator can only enhance its prospects in the key State of California. It should be noted that the above extension approval does not require approval from the State regulator, with WatchandWager already being approved by the California Horse Racing Board to conduct its operations".
Good luck, Brighty
Is my buy. Just got a little windfall so some more bought.
Interesting article in The Times this morning. Not specific to Webis but makes reference to UK gaming firms operating in the US and how lucrative it will be for them.
Hi there, I also sat on my hands but this will bounce around for the next few weeks on no news probably. Not sure anything in it as such, but something will happen very soon, keep the faith we will be rewarded
Well, the 500k at 10.55am (but posted after the event so showing as unknown) was a buy too,... so why now? Something is afoot.
Bloody annoyed actually. Was waiting to add another tranche at 2p. ;-)
Don't think it'll ever be back there again now. This share does the opposite to most, the old phrase about share prices going up the stairs but down in elevators doesn't apply here. This one crawls down and rockets up.
Every day is another day closer the California vote, or more likely a deal struck beforehand.
and here we go again it moves like the wind with just a few buys.most of the shares in sticky hands .something happening?
Unbelievably cheap for a share that we knows spikes at least 3 to 4 times a year and with hopefully transformational news in the next 5 to 6 months.
I too get your frustration, but it's just the way the Small Cap market is behaving at the moment. WEB isn't alone.
In reality the RNS was 90% good and 10% iffy (albeit predictably iffy, no surprises).
What the market saw was the iffy bit, also that a sale wasn't close and that the vote for California was still 6 months away. I think some people even managed to read a raise into it but there's not a cat in hells chance of that in my view.
If this gets anywhere near 2p I'll plough more in, although I've got plenty already. Within 12 months this will do very well and there will be spikes before.
As always DYOR
Hi , I get your frustration, I hold 4750000, but would be buying more if I dare take the risk. This is one to sit on your hands and hold, this could move up at any time. Not really sure why it is now so cheap as the latest RNS had many positive aspects. I guess it’s just about all the uncertainty at the moment. However, one things for certain, if the dip in the markets and the Ukraine crisis has an effect on the world economies long term, California will be looking to add revenue streams and we have the perfect fit
Very frustrating to see the price going back to the bad old days - unfortunately it looks like 2p will be breached shortly.
Holding 2.3 million now and cant bring myself to top up anymore. Think I better start looking at the vacancies for a 59 year old accountant
Dropped under 2.5p , couldn't resist buying another £2k's worth
A £22 pound sell !! And they drop it !!!!
Becoming? I think that has been the case for a while, Taverham.
Positive - the state of Cali can't really afford not to introduce online sports betting. The tribes will resist these moves with everything they have got but the bottom line is online is where the meaningful tax dollars will come from and I don't see any problem with the residents voting for this on the ballot, with all those sports teams they must be desperate for it to happen having watched the majority of states go that way.
Negative - expect a raise so that Web can get W&W sale ready.
One nagging doubt I have always had with Web is that they have to run the Cal Expo track to get their Cali licence. Will any suitors want the ball ache of taking on this operation?
In summary, still all to play for but expect some bumps along the road.
This is becoming a bet on a takeover in short term and cal in longer term. I am just wondering if no deal can be done without the cal licencing news as there is a lot riding on it.
I have lost on paper a tremendous amount of money today. However, I have made 3 more purchases today at 2.98 and 2.7 and 2.69 twitchy bum time but I believe a fantastic cheap purchase. Now hold almost 5000000 shares will not be selling anytime soon other than a bit of trading. The board still stated they felt the stock was undervalued and I am inclined to agree. This is a bet to nothing, I either retire or keep working!,,, we will be successful if we stay in the game and positive.
