That may well nullify the effect of Voda going Ex Div
"Expelling people with special needs may well help the share price but is definitely not a good look."
Oh dear, Guttersnipe was expelled !
GS is Chopper! Lets have it right :)
GutterSnipe is Tony Angelino
These mobile phone companies have been in and out of bed with each other so many times they resemble a Brian Rix farce.
I think it is the same as a Wocket or maybe a Splaceshipe!
Whats a stadelite ?
It doesn't matter if you can't please all of the people all of the time.
Just as long as you can please some of the people some of the time 😁.
With a so/so day tomorrow I'll be happy with anything around 75p x divi close
LoL Vod falling behind BT on news of the merger. Probably shoot up on ex div?
Totally illegible diatribe, but expect nothing less from GS
I has it on good authority that one of Vodafones stadelites has blown up so hence they had to go wiv Hutchinson.
Nevertheless the big bang will be tomorrow when it goes ex divi
Expelling people with special needs may well help the share price but is definitely not a good look.
I'm expecting a fall of around 6pence ...
I believe its a done deal. Vodafone and Hutchison already have had a nod from the Government. Regulators will not hold this up.
See article below + extract from it.
Full story: https://tinyurl.com/yvzmuv8u
"Sources told Reuters in April that the companies could commit on network investments as part of their approach to regulators.
Hutchison's senior leadership met British government officials in March to seek political support for the deal, the sources said. A few weeks later, the government confirmed its "openness to market consolidation".
Uk blocked the Microsoft deal and euro passed it. My thinking is that if Sunak wants deals from the US he might have to be more accommodating of take overs etc!
I think this has been expected for a while.....it is the Regulator hurdle that has to cleared ..that is the main issue and slowly the Govt and Regulator will warm to the idea IMO
Don’t expect any favours from OFCOM or CMA…they will be lobbied hard by the competition…and in the run up to the election the politicians will make a lot of noise.
However, the landscape has changed a lot since Three / O2 combination was vetoed (incorrectly per the courts) and the regulators need to recognise that running a network and providing a telephone service are two different things….there are plenty of low value customer offers from virtual operators that mean a merger will not create higher customer bills…..
This needs to be seen for what it is…..creating a new strong player from two subscale operations (subscale because their competitors were allowed to merger).
It should give a boost to VOD and CKHH and result in a better service for their customers in the UK.
Terrific news.
'The combined entity would surpass both BT’s EE and Virgin Media O2. The consolidation of these two telecommunications giants would undoubtedly reshape the competitive landscape of the British market.'

The Spanish arm of Vodafone management and the second of the day shows that everything is getting more expensive with the infrastructure.
Nevertheless, verify that the political class would be negligent if found responsible.
Truly, Vodafone is a special case with a huge cash burn and massive debt load.
Plenty of other shares to invest in, so why take the chance?
I wasn't expecting it to rise so much today. But as it has, I've closed out. I'll consider buying back after the divi when I think the price will be under 76
Mr Long, yes you pay tax along the way, over the 25% tax free.
If you are a 40% tax payer and retire on an income less than the 40% tax threshold, you are only paying 20% tax month on month. The state pension is £10k too, when you can get it
In the meantime, some good news today.

I expect thats the news Liberty wanted before selling their 'non core' assets and converting their derivative to stock with the cash. Niel may also increase his stake as the starting gun has been fired. E& may have to pay a bit more for a 2nd BoD exec.
Shorts might want to close as the risk profile has changed.
Rating agencies may say something later that improves outlook.
Prediction not so good but I’m long
