2 dead apparantly, 3 escaped. Do we expect the authorities to close the mine for a period while it is investigated?
very sad if somebody has been killed in a mining accident here.. but best we wait for official confirmation of that (or not)...
also this has had a good run recently and seems prone to punchy retraces after good run ups as a rule.. those retraces have often proven good topping up opportunites too.. and I for eg would add a bit more if this goes under 100p again ..
( generally, even if this sad event is true, this share should, in due course. go to 150p and plenty beyond after that too ..imho..this remains one of my favourite stocks in my p/f .. but,as ever, DYOR )
It could well land today or tomorrow morning, and still be ASAP.
They just have to acknowledge whether the report is correct and will report back to the market with further details in due course. That would be both respectful both any bereaved families and shareholders alike.
It's not difficult to draft such an RNS either way....
NoelS - "preliminary announcement expressing sympathy and say they will make a full statement later."
Yes that would do it respectfully.
I was right with my earlier post about the obligation to report it first to the stock exchange -
"The COMC states that making or failing to make statements or disseminate information which is likely to be regarded by the regular user of the market as relevant to determining the terms of transactions in listed securities is "behaviour" falling within the scope of the market abuse regime (MAR 1.3.1E(5)). As a result:
If a listed company issues this sort of information selectively, without an announcement to the market, both it and officers of the company who are involved are at risk of proceedings for market abuse unless there is a justification for their actions." From -

With regard to JTD's point about respecting the relatives - TSG could make a preliminary announcement expressing sympathy and say they will make a full statement later.
If it's an on-going event - i.e. Mine rescue underway for a potential survivor (however unlikely) the company would have difficulty informing the market fully whist respecting the relatives of a potential victim until he is found. If he's under a fall of ground then his chances of his survival are slim IMO, but we can hope. We're best being patient until accurate news can be given.
Of course., if it is untrue then the company should clarify immediately.
Yes!
I've e-mailed the company to request a personal briefing. Haha - not quite just asked them whether they are aware of the news, market and share price reaction and whether they are going to respond.
I'll let you know of any response....
Someone at the mine has probably tipped off the Siberian Times.... hence no official news/RNS at this point.
Regardless of what has or hasn't happened, the SP drop looks like the buying opportunity of the year.
That's a fair point, didn't mean to sound so suspicious. Hopefully the missing miner is found safe and well
Good people of TSG, I have downloaded the trade log for today which is 15 mins delayed, so just checked data up to 11.40.
There are only 2 large sells today (over 20,000) so far.
The guy that originally posted that story, Donal Pond (ADVFN), also goes on to say he has opened a short. Hmmm.
Could just be a large sell, then price drops on low volume, and this guy climbs on it?

Anyone tempted to go long!! :)
Sad news indeed. Might not be an RNS just mentioned in next accounts, depends how affected or how many enquiries they have I'd imagine.
What an amazing twitter account though. The pictures and movies of the Aurora, leopard, hares and deer are great.
I still have a free-holding. I sold a chunk above 100p and top sliced many years ago..
It was this time last year when the sp plunged when they announced revised numbers. January again?
Nothing on the internet. So one twitter post and a few stock pictures, plus maybe a year old event and 15% drop in TSG. Hope it is rumour only or at worst a deliberate attempt to drop the share price.
Looks a bit lame that twitter feed. However something has pushed the price down, something is occuring.
They will be library stock pictures and not taken after the event.
Very peculiar given The Siberian Times previous posting history tends to be non-news related. How did they acquire photos of the scene? Company needs to put out a statement today regardless now but either way drop looks overdone now.

Is there any way of confirming that that Twitter account is genuine?
Twitter? I was under the impression that companies are legally obliged to make announcements of a price-sensitive nature as an announcement on the stock exchange, i.e. RNS, before anywhere else.
However, if they have confirmed it, then it is tragic for a man to suffer the ultimate loss.
Link please. (what a poor way to announce this)
Just also done a google search and come up blank - this is very strange, if it turns out to be untrue I hope the FCA prosecute.
The trouble with trusting this at this stage is that the implication is you don't need proof, I hope it is a scam them no one is injured except shareholders.
Can't find it in the alleged source website either.

Yes,
Twitter posting.
!!! To Stress this one year old !!!!
I too searched google and google news, could not find anything.
There was news in January 2020 that matches the allegations, e.g. the daily mail from last year...
