So the second beat pump won’t be subsidised and there’s no way I am ripping up the Italian marble flooring on the ground floor that cost me 30 grand when it was done 15 years ago to put UFH in!
We’ve got a solution, it’s called gas and there are many lifetimes supply of it right under our feet. It’s cheap, it’s reliable and it works with what we have
You can fit two bodies in the boot ? That’ll come in handy when the next pandemic arrives ....
Addicknt
It all takes a bit of research and yes it’s not straight forward …..what new technology is, even the latest iPhone will take a bit of getting used to and that’s based on technology I’ve been using regularly for 15 years.
My experience has been good especially from a cost point of view, ironically I installed UF because a gas boiler system could not heat downstairs enough and now heat pumps do the job at a fraction of the cost.
Your friends tariff sounds like it might be the issue, which would have been a problem q2 months ago as energy companies refused to take new customers for a prolonged period.
No problem addicknt.
Not only can tall people fit in you have lots of space inside.
BPHIL it has 350 cubic litres of boot space.
How much shopping do you get.
Also one of the add ones is you can open the boot and it can form a tent large enough to sleep two tall people comfortably.
I believe we are going to see a lot of these over the coming years.
27 grand for a car that you’d struggle to fit your weekly shop in ? Plus it’s as ugly as sin . No thanks
Q, really useful as a family car and given that I'm 6'5" and, how can I put this?... on the largish size, I wouldn't fit in.
Google the aptera coming to the UK next year.
Two seater electric car.
Charges from the sun 30-40 miles a day.
But can be charged by charger.
Does a thousand miles on a single charge.
And the new one can do 0-60 in 3 seconds.
Looks beautiful.
Also only 100 KW of battery, so getting ten miles per kilowatt as its twice as aero dynamic as the best car's in the world.
It has a drag coefficient of 0.13
Also no servicing or dealers.
Everything is designed to be customer replaceable.
If you can build a cupboard from IKEA you are over qualified to maintain this car.
The motors are in the wheels.
So to replace a motor you just replace the wheel.
Tesla, yes the law can be changed, although I've seen no mention of this issue from anyone.
We know of someone in a similar situation in our village who fitted what was supposed to be hyper-efficient electric heating only to find their bills escalate by an enormous amount. It's my belief that as it stands, the technology is not yet capable of addressing this specific problem in a cost effective manner. That's not to say it won't, but right now it doesn't. Incidentally, we've had several experts look at this and they all came to the same conclusion.
You've obviously had a good experience with your EV, but you will be well aware of the fact that many other people have not.
In my view Sunak has made the right move and the delays will allow technology to improve to a level which will make these initiatives a practical solution for people who are not in your fortunate situation. His decision has been driven by common sense and a recognition of the facts, and not by dogma, which is what we should wish for in all of our politicians.

The law can be changed.I appreciate listed buildings are listed for a reason but some of the laws in respect of these building are very out dated and need updating.
Obviously there can be solutions found for various types of properties, heat pumps aren’t a one fits all solution but plenty of plumbers have told me they won’t work in our house and they work very very well.
People say the same about EVs, again I have found the experience very good.
My first flat, 35 years ago had no gas to the development and it’s been ok. I upgraded the storage heaters last year but it still works and I assume pretty cheap to heat.
Good morning addicknt, some listed buildings can have heat pumps fitted, so doesn't apply to all.
However for listed buildings like yours we now have electric boiler's that can store energy in batteries by using cheap rate electricity when demand on the national grid is low. This can be used during their day to heat your home through readiators, infra red heating and supplying hot water for a fraction of the cost.
Tesla, a question: There are approximately 500,000 Listed buildings in the UK - we live in one- which, by law, cannot have heat pumps fitted. There's also the practical issue of having foundations which cannot be disturbed. We cannot install any form of double glazing and wall insulation is simply not possible.
What's going to happen to these homes if gas and oil are eventually banned as a source of domestic heating?
Underfloor heating is the only real way to use heat pumps but that is another reason most can’t afford to install.
Sunak’s speech yesterday slowly the pace of change but still meeting the 2050 target was the first policy from any party in a very long time that I would vote for at the election.
Also acknowledged the shortage of charging stations but no mention of the lack of copper supply in the next few years making a rapid change possible.
DM, yes, it'll be interesting to see if he addresses that issue in the CEO's report i.e what exactly has been done to improve the non-performance and what impact has it had?
Addinct…. They. Said 26th

There is a simple solution, have 2 heat pumps.
The biggest one on the market is 14kwh, I needed 17kwh so my installer put 2 in, it’s not difficult.
Our property is a 6 bed detached similar size, admittedly fortunately I gutted the ground floor and put UF heating excavating 40 tonnes, which has worked well as heat pumps are extremely efficient for UF heating. The property is 90 years old and SWMBO moans when it drops below 24c, I have saved close to 5 figures on heating over the past 12 months.
You can be blinkered to the future thats fine, it can cost you as well, no problem, but Rishi bowing to party pressure on the minuscule hope he can turn the Uxbridge south by election nationwide is just that…… a faint hope.
Every car manufacturer is preparing for EVs Rishi’s u turn is pure desperation from a politician who should never have been prime minster in the first place
If we're running to the same corporate calendar, next week should see the release of the MD&A and final results for last year.
They will not contain anything dramatic, but buried in the detail may be some answers to various outstanding questions.
Why would it correct bring to being
Why does auto correct correct a word that is a valid word? I don’t get this nutty tech
Personally I’d like Mather to return as CEO. When he was at the wheel this ran from 2p to 45
Subsequent CEOs have brought lack of direction, lack of news and general slide in share price
Being Mather back being news back let us get out!
Padmaster and several others spent 8 years doting on mathers picture on the wall, berating any who didn't bow to the messiah.
Eventually all but padmaster saw he wasn't the man they thought, and voted him out.
Are we to let the likes of adikt, dbw, fort and one or two others, with their leave things as they are views take us down the the same 8 year path mather took us.
645 posters now think solg board needs shaking up. For reasons blind freddy can even see.
3 posters adikt, dbw and fort, say leave things as they are.
I wonder who maybe right. Mmmmm let me think.
Maybe we could have a crowd fund to by 3 shovels to dig their heads out of the sand.
But the building needs insulation due to solid walls. That will take cost above the pump price. I know because I’ve checked my house as we are off the gas grid too!
From octopus just now
Dear
Thanks for putting your name down for an octopus energy heat pump!
Based on your property size and heating needs, I’m afraid we’re not quite ready to install a heat pump in your home just yet. It looks like you may require a larger heat pump or a more customised design than we offer right now
No brainer? They won’t even install one in my reasonably modest 500 square metre 6 bed detached
Aquinaga thats not true, with the new subsidiary octopus energy will replace your gas boiler, with a heat pump. Replace your radiators, replace your immersion heater for a smart immersion heater.
Rip out and dispose of your gas boiler all for under 4k wigh subsidy.
It's a no brainer.
Of course our most unintelligent poster on here won't go for it, as he's really not that bright.
With respect Aquinaga, we can’t subsidise everything
People have got to understand that government doesn’t have money it just spends our money. So whether we spend it ourselves or do it via subsidies it’s our money being thrown at this nonsense
