All,
Some new information released today regarding plans for carbon neutrality.

Too funny, this carbon nonsense will be proved to be scam it is in decades to come. Earth was much warmer in the Middle Ages and the ice caps didn’t melt and polar bears did just fine. carbon hs very little to do with climate and is a lagging indicator. Many more people die of cold every year than heat anyway, I am glad I am old, maybe if I am lucky I will have 25 years more on the planet and if RKH comes good I will be buying the biggest gas guzzlers I can get and a peat farm in Ireland.
I topped up a little today
GLA
NN I fully agree. Problem is there are too many consultants, researchers, etc feeding on this (so called) climate crisis that it will probably be a few years until it is clear for everyone they were wrong.

If you show pictures as "proof" at least show a picture that includes the last two decades.

The world population has already increased by 26.5 million this year. Oil demand is only going one way. India has power shortages and is increasing the use of coal.. China likewise. Whatever the F.I does is not going to make any difference.
Don't get me started on adhd, what the fk is that nonsense?
We can’t do anything to stop the impact of climate change in U.K. we produce less than 2% of emissions. The last thing we should do is destroy our economy with stupid gesture politics via net zero targets. We have oil and gas let’s use it. We can manage the consequences of global warming in U.K. by prohibiting any more building within 5 metres of sea level from today. Over 100 years we could rebuild our housing stock at a safe distance from sea level.
Don’t get me going on benefits either! 7 million people of working age receiving 80 billion in benefits; over £11,000 per person .. absolutely ridiculous. I would halve them and use the proceeds to increase the annual tax allowance to 18,000. We need incentives for work not benefits for not working. Our country has gone mad!
I see the lunatics are out in force, what a load of drivel ,do try putting your collective small brains in gear before engaging your mouths, fiddlers and Rome burning ,
Sorry correction! Double checked and U.K. only produces 1% of World CO2 emissions (China, India and USA produce 50% together) so even less reason for us to beat ourselves up over our emissions. Also the worst case scenario rise in sea level by the end of this century is 1.3m to 1.6m so the U.K. not building any more new properties within 5m of sea level seems like common sense to me if we are looking to protect ourselves.
I’d be wary of any climate change related information coming out of Yale! Just out of interest China accounted for 95% of the world’s new coal power construction activity in 2023 and they produced twice as much per capita CO2 as UK so they have a long way to go!
Why be warey of Yale?

to name but a few
Look at the CET chart (link below) you can see that the temperature has been increasing steadily since the 1690s long before any increase in CO2 caused by humans!
The Central England Temperature (CET) series is the longest-running instrumental temperature series in the world. By collating and combining early instrumental records, the series charts monthly temperature statistics from 1659. The series is representative of a region enclosed by Lancashire, London and Bristol
https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/research/climate/maps-and-data/cet-series
That is incorrect take a fresh look at the chart, 1730 to 1740 warm spike then back down ,remained fairly steady until 1900 .
Then started a series of higher lows and slightly higher highs culminating in the highest highs over the past 30years
Met office also says.......
Cooler and warmer spells
When looking at the series you can clearly see cooler and warmer spells, but none of these periods have been as marked as the warmer-than-average period since the late 20th Century. In a series that tracks over 360 years of temperature, the ten warmest years in the CET series have occurred since 1990 and the top five have all occurred since 2006. The last time there was a year in the top ten coldest was in 1879 during the reign of Queen Victoria. 360 years is a long time in any field of science, and you would expect many changes.
Fuddstone some more for you.
https://co2coalition.org/facts/naturally-driven-warming-began-more-than-300-years-ago/
Solar capacity is not the same as solar delivery tò the point of use: 12% utilisation is common for solar in northern latitudes and then there are bottlenecks between the far flung solar farms and the consumers. Renewables are the opposite of what mankind wants: dense and reliable sources of energy. Renewables also destroy much natural wilderness.
The norseman, I`ve been down this street before, you really should do more research on the entities you promote
....The CO2 Coalition is a 501(c)(3) organization with the stated mission "to engage in an informed and dispassionate discussion of climate change, humans’ role in the climate system, the limitations of climate models, and the consequences of mandated reductions in CO2 emissions." It was founded in 2015 by Roger Cohen, William Happer and Rodney W. Nichols in succession to the George C. Marshall Institute (GMI)"[1][2][3]
Happer told E&E that GMI had "found it difficult to get funding in recent years because of its association with climate change contrarianism," suggesting that was the reason that the CO2 Coalition was formed as a separate entity. The founders are all active in the "climate skepticism" world. Happer has no formal training in climate science but is notorious among climate scientists and environmentalists for his staunch denial of climate change and the science supporting it.[4] O'Keefe is a former executive vice president and CEO of the American Petroleum Institute. Nichols signed a “No Need to Panic About Global Warming” letter."[5]
Greenpeace calls the CO2 Coalition a "Koch Industries Climate Denial Front Group" due to a reported $232,409 in contributions from the Charles Koch Foundation, David H. Koch Charitable Foundation and Charles Koch Institute. Additionally, the CO2 coalition received $420,000 from the Claude R. Lambe Charitable Foundation.[6]
Quick question,Fuddstone Are you invested here?
If you are, it seems a bit hypocritical
If you’re not, why are you so persistent in stating a case that clearly others don’t care about?

Thenorseman, they are correct to state that the world warmed up in the last 300 years without humans playing a significant role in it, but it is taken out of context. The reason the world warmed up (a bit) was because of the little ice age (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Ice_Age). This was roughly between the 16th and 19th century. That foundation is using some commom techniques to fool ignorant people by taking a very selective period and using this as 'proof'. If you want to learn more about fooling people with something that seems scientific, I highly recommend "How to lie with statistics" from Darrell Huff. In the meantime, just go to the Wikipedia page or look up any other source with a picture of the average temperatures of the last 1000 years and make sure they include the last 2-3 decades. Everyone would immediately see that the last 2-3 decades warm up way quicker than would be possible if it would be a natural event. Still, I believe the world will need oil for the foreseeable future and I prefer the oil coming from the Falklands and that something is done to (partly) offset the CO2 emissions than that it's coming from some other place.
This link should work better

JEBR
Why do you want to use the last thousand years? Does that suit your statistical information? Go back 5060 70,000 years The Earth has been around for 4.5 Billion years the last thousand years is too smaller sample
Oceans the access of the Sun volcanoes all play for big part in our climate And releasing CO2, then we do
GLA
Boboil
Boboil yes I am invested here and have been for a very very long time.
No its not hypocritical to respond to inacurate claims being made about global warming.
Here is something for you to think about.....
If the climate deniers are wrong and they win they will destroy the planet(happening already)
If the renewables are wrong all they will have done is promote a cleaner planet self sustaining better technologies EV`s etc and better air quality and leave a better place for our kids. It`s that simple. The rate of advance is heartening
BTW I will sell a break even also in UOG same applies there if it ever happens
Stillneedoil are you Boboil as well strange to sign out as another posterReference volcanoes v humans get it right

Human activities emit 60 or more times the amount of carbon dioxide released by volcanoes each year. Large, violent eruptions may match the rate of human emissions for the few hours that they last, but they are too rare and fleeting to rival humanity’s annual emissions. In fact, several individual U.S. states emit more carbon dioxide in a year than all the volcanoes on the planet combined do.
Earth is 4.6 billions years in existence. It saw off the might dinosaurs. I would say only a fool could believe human activity has changed the climate within the past 150 years. Total rubbish.
