ValJu I thought we weren’t a covid test company?
that is you're problem PI100, you think (well over think) :)
It’s what most people here say. I’m sure you’ve said it as well. So in your opinion, what are we, a covid test company or not? Given the cliff covid sales have fallen off, I’d say the latter. Lower non covid sales than 2019 and that’s with inflation so in real terms the drop is more significant.
Its Flu A thats causing most of the respiratory illnesses at the moment, far outweighing covid.
Hi Poidster , I know you don't monitor board daily , therefore may not read this.
Do you know how it is known that Influenza A is the major cause of respiratory illnesses in the UK at the moment.
Is it as a result of complications , therefore hospitalisation and subsequent testing then being undertaken ?
I know of five people who have come down with Covid in the last 2 weeks. They know they have it but there is no reporting any more so I have no idea where figures come from unless reported by the medical profession.
Hi P101 , I believe the ONS survey is ongoing for Covid and is used to guesstimate community levels. I am not aware of anything that monitors RSV / Influenza A/B levels , that testing I assume , must happen within hospitals if a patient presents and needs admitting ... ????
ONS and ZOE, ZOE is volunteer driven and makes pretty accurate real time predictions. ONS is usually a week or two lagging. ZOE currently showing cases on the rise again.
Thanks Karen. Link please to the big contract win that increases ncyt share price and with it, my investment. And yours, if you’re invested.
"If your invested" are you for real (obviously not)
You really have no low point, do you... Pathetically Incompetent 100
As now you attempt (extremely poorly) to discredit one of the most sensible and level headed posters on the Nova Board, with "if you are invested"?
You are nothing but flotsam, floating in the sea, no brain, no intellect, just pure unpleasantness imo...
#lowlife - again imo
My post was directed at Pebbles 101, shortened to P101, not you.
My MIL was taken into hospital last week, she knew she had Covid before she went in. They don't think her condition was because of Covid but it wasn't helped by having it. She was tested when she went in but the person who accompanied her was not with her at the time so I couldn't find out any further information. She also had a respiratory infection, but once again I couldn't find out any more information. I assume they are still testing patients without signs of Covid as well.
Pebbl you can still take and report tests, I did yesterday and got a NHS acknowledgement. Of course, you might not be able to get new test kits, or you, family or friends might have stockpile.
I don't think anyone I know would bother to report tests to be honest. I know people who didn't during the height of the pandemic.
All patients are still tested on admission on day3 and then day5. Currently Flu patients are cohorted, Covid patients are not, the NHS currently use a multiplex test, cov, flu a/b and RSV, its not our test obviously, im afraid.

The best source of info regarding current respiratory infections in the UK is the UKHSA weekly influenza report which is published each Friday. The week 46 report show's two strains of influenza A in circulation, but at the moment they don't know which one will become the dominant strain.
Hi Kaeren, my wife and I are still doing the ONS survey and in an update earlier this month the ONS wrote to say "Over the winter, we will be running a small pilot to find out whether CIS could be used as an early warning system for flu and another respiratory virus called respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in the community. We will do this by testing a small number of the swabs you provide each month for these two viruses as well as COVID-19.
We will also try to read the letters of the genetic code of any seasonal or emerging influenza virus that we find, which may help us work out how well the flu vaccine might work. This is called sequencing.
This is a pilot programme testing less than 1% of samples selected at random, so you will not be notified or receive results if your swab is tested for flu or RSV.
This pilot data should give the NHS an early warning of the levels of these viruses circulating the community, helping them prepare to face these potential pressures and ensure our healthcare services can cope over the busiest time of their year."
I may have previously said my neighbour, a pensioner who has had Covid in the past, recently fell ill with RSV which she thinks was caught whilst flying. Now flying off to Europe so will probably come back with flu next!
Ah brilliant thank you MrM , it seemed odd to just wait until everyone rocked up at the hospital, but the number of samples is ridiculously low and as Sir D pointed out , they a few weeks behind.
I knew someone would know ! :)
My wife has kidney failure and dialyses 3x weekly. She has a test every Mon and Friday and has done since testing started ( at first testing Mon Wed and Fri ), which changed to twice earlier this year.
Everybody is masked and no visitors are allowed on site ( I used to help my wife into and out of the unit until Covid started, but now I'm only allowed to drop her off and pick her up from outside the unit.
Just a comment about Zoe covid data. It’s amazingly accurate because they predict daily new cases and people currently symptomatic. (Over 2m)…and possibly even nhs uses their data in preference to the ONS data which always at best 8 days behind curve. Never invested here but was very tempted…went to BioNTech instead. Hope things work out here. Looks like start of new wave….
