Barclays Analysts Give Lloyds Banking Group (LON:LLOY) a GBX 75 Price Target

Banks in the UK have paid almost £40bn in tax in the past year, says a report by trade body UK Finance and accountancy firm PwC. Taxes paid by the industry have risen by 50% over the past five years, the report adds.
While banks operating in the US have benefited from a recent reduction in the rate of corporate income tax, changes in recent years in the UK have increased the taxation burden on the banking industry
Trump cut the corporate tax rate from 35 to 21%
It is interesting how a country makes itself attractive for business to invest and corporation tax must be a most fundamental tool. It would be revealing for banks to share their own views on this as their lending helps to drive the economy.
I notice Lloyds are being affected by the decline in new car sales and the uncertainties in this sector. Government has been very disjointed and it needs someone with a clearer understanding to focus minds and help strategise for people to feel safe in their future purchase decisions.
Strategy in this Country.RICHARD ,there is already one know as self preservation.
An good example is the third runway at heathrow.LOL.
The corporation tax rate is 27% for UK banks. It's very obvious if government persists with current policy 8% additional levy it will drive banking out of the city. Treasury morons destroying another industry is just standard practice.
Why would hsbc stay located in the London. I don't think they will. Makes more sense to head quarter in New York now. Same with Barclays.
Time zone... Trade all markets in London at best possible hours, nowhere else is that really possible...
Greg that is a great point and why the currency and metal markets won't move. But can't see why banks keep their tax status there. I don't think they will if this levy stays.
It's a fact that lower corporation tax leads to higher bank lending for business as it helps to drive and encourage entrepreneurs and expansion of existing businesses. It's also a fact that there is a chasm between the Tories and Labour over this issue but presumably this will be deleted because it's political.
Yep maybe they would move their tax domicile.. Also though I guess this is viewed as a "safe" regulatory framework which is accommodation.. That could all change if Comrade Corbyn wins an election though... CLearly some of it will also be historical...
Apple could prob pay less tax in Singapore but they wont move..
HSBC & Barclays will not move to New York, reason being they would be immediate takeover targets and would be gone within 2 years.
Why doesn`t Lloyds move a takeover would be so sweet for us.
Not sure HSBC would be a takeover target anywhere, it's the 6th largest bank in the world so not many suitors and besides how many would have the cash.
Lloyd's is big enough, don't think it would be allowed either. Lloyds will grow it customer base by having the best interactive services which it is heavily investing in combined with the best products
Does that mean you’re a Lloyds shareholder again Cuckoo ?
One day you are, the next you’re not. It’s almost as if you make it up as you go along based upon which way the share price is moving.
The way you continually slate Lloyds, I’m surprised you are a shareholder again to be honest. Maybe it’s just that this is a larger BB for you to air your Communist nonsense.
GB
''It’s almost as if you make it up as you go along ''
He does.
Pinch of salt statements.
When has he last said ' I have just bought' or 'I have just sold'
The evidence would suggest that he has not been trading in and out, and that in fact he has just been holding if he has shares at all.
I’d say that your assessment is spot on LTI. Glad I’m not the only one who thinks so........
Lti you always say what I'm thinking. The fact is BJ and the tories are actually pretty centre left wing if you look at their record. For Corbyn to want to go hard left is fairly terrifying.
Maybe a good time to buy some Tulips boys
Tulips??
" For Corbyn to want to go hard left is fairly terrifying."
I'd put the odds of Labour winning the general election, with Corbyn in charge, about the same as London being hit by an asteroid.
Really must build the next runway at HW - forget HS2
Boomer ... you must be living in a fantasy land how many Tory MPs have left stating that “it’s not the party I joined “ indicating it’s move to the far right ... I’m sure Francois Baker Patterson and IDS would turn up in black shirts if they could ... Boomer I had you down as being intelligent not deluded
Pat your political centre of gravity is practically Marxist if you think the Tories aren't anything but centre left now.
