Well offering 10 passenger places Monday morning St Mary’s to Penzance on what looks like a conversion of the crew boat…. But a smaller vessel for sure
Broomtree ref 21.53 post I see yet again you are posting information without providing any link to the source of your information. I have checked the scilly ferries website and can see nothing about this on it.
Yeah, any chance of a link BT. I looked last night when it was posted and found nothing on the Scilly Ferries site. Could see no obvious mention of anything on the Air and Sea links FB page either so gave up looking. Noticed this on the company site which read as if they have decided to pretty much given up on this season.
"Our first season schedule fits around existing operators and we look forward to working with both harbours to develop our schedule for Season 2 and beyond..."
It would seem they don't much of a choice, fitting around, without a boat. Of a size that would make it worthwhile at least. Although, people who did pre-book seem more than happy to be getting free helicopter rides. So that should stand them in good stead for customer satisfaction for future bookings. But at the expense of the company before they have taken any paying customers. It would seem they don't much of a choice, without a boat. Of a size that would make it worthwhile at least.
The whole endevour, has been a total waste of time and effort, imo. A distractionary sideshow for very little gain. The only saving grace, afaics, might be the freight side as that could be usefully employed in the main business between the yards. Certainly not, "On time and on schedule", as JW likes to say.
Anyway, rant over, enjoy the rest of the long w/e all. :)
it’s on facebook.

Levsinvest ref 09.16 post do you know what is supposed to be where the asterisks are. You may need to put some spaces in.
It's on the Scilly Ferries Facebook page, Stokey. Clue was , "it’s on facebook. " ;)
JW posted a pic of said boat. Not sure if this link will work, but....

Twin outboard motors so if bumpy it should be reasonably quick.
Further from earlier. " H&W have taken payment for ferry ticket prices , guaranteeing helicopter seats should boat not be in service by then ." So the money is flowing in. Divi's soon then. :)
Si_Derman ref 10.30 post thanks for that it is Sunday so my brain is resting.
No worries, Stokey. Found another pic of them testing out the new vessel.

Found the actual vessel. It moored alongside the Samson in Penzance at the mo. Named the "Offshore Endeavour" and was used out of PadStien.

Has upset some of the locals who operate these types of small vessels for a living though.
Sealinks FB guy said
"stepping on locals who rely on that annual income is definitely not a great move - H&W would of been far better off sub contracting initially with the charter boats in place rather than going down the route they seem to be going - just all seems quite disjointed and knee jerk….."
Oh, appently it was on the market for £125,000.
Stokey - you need to get over yourself with the tiresome jibs. It’s not always possible to post links whilst on a phone…. If you don’t trust my info just scroll on by…. To the best of my knowledge it’s not a requirement to post links - it was a comment for general info
Whilst I’m here, your Anvil post is meaningless, that was built by a different company (in all but name), under very different circumstances regarding infrastructure and capabilities
Broomtree ref 13.21 post in relation to your point on my Anvil post your criticism is with all due respect unfair. In my post I referenced a comment from Professor Taylor before the Northern ireland Affairs Committee. During his evidence he made a comment about the quality of work by HARL in the past.
AW still berthed just above Porto, that’s now a week. Speculation its having a new gangway fitted but nothing official
Re: the new small vessel the Offshore Endeavour (Imagine that name will get changed) She may be small, but she's quick. Did a trip out to the islands this morning left just after 5:00 and docked at 6:30. A quick half hour change around and departed at 7:00. Similar 90min trip and docked back in Penzance at 8:30. Apparently reasonably calm conditions .
No feedback from anyone who was onboard as yet describing the experience. Guess if you need to make the trip you would have to weigh up the options but no doubt it was quick. In comparison to other means available. By sea, anyway.

Seems to be an awlful lot of misunderstanding regarding H&W, government backed loans, bailouts etc. circulating around the various FB pages. Someone should maybe set them straight on a few things. Pretty sure there was at least one investor posting on there at one point. You can always spot investors as they tend to use the ticker name "HARL" and not the company name, or the abbreviated H&W, the the general public would use. :)
Pretty desperate measures when people from here have to start posting on local Facebook groups to spread their narrative to help their trade. I watch the Sea Links group but I don't feel that I should be posting on there.
To be fair the locals seem to be just as good at stirring the pot, especially that admin who clearly sees HARL as a threat to something he has interests in. Probably a shareholder of IOSSC.
It's all an excrement show and a distraction. I dread to think how much has been spent on this Scilly business when the priority should be avoiding unnecessary spending until profitability is reached. Especially so when finance still hasn't been sorted.
Xenor re 12:35 Have you read the Admin's review of the scrutiny comm.?
If so then you would not say that he is one sided at all. He was scathing of the IOSSC and i.m.o. seemed very balanced considering that he may well have shares in IOSSC as well as family / friends involved.
It would be as hard to find a neutral person in the Scilly Isles as it was trying to find a neutral juror for Trumps trial.
X - Paranoia getting to you? I would imagine commenting on a fb group might depend where you live or in this case many from all over the country who visit?
Careful with your last para…. Getting a tad close to reality there!
Lot's people post on there not just islanders. Ex pats, family members that have left and a lot of holiday makers looking for answers regarding their travel arrangements. Pretty certain the admin chap lives off island. Anyway, was just saying that maybe someone should set them straight as people seem to think that the company has governmental funding to the tune of £200m to assist them in their endevours. And that means an unfair advantage in doing locals out of work, as they see it. Not a good look for the company, imo.
Totally agree with your last paragraph, X. And it's all a bit hadhock, almost amature, to boot. I don't particularly like businesses over use of social media to start with. What I do find ridiculous, is to see the CEO of the company engaging in almost petty squables with people on social media. Is it the sort of thing his contemporaries Charles Woodburn or David Lockwood do on a regular basis? I think that that is the issue though. With JW, it seems the whole thing has all become just a little personal since the loosing of the build contract. His has said not, but.... i'm not convinced. imo
Anyway, The Atlantic Wolff has now left the... quay. ETA: SANTANDER May 8, 08:00 (in 2 days)
Fair enough. I just don't feel it's my place to comment on the local services of a place I don't live, or even places I have travelled to (I travel a lot).
I do find it interesting that the narrative on there is the same narrative you get on ADVFN and to a lesser extent on here. That the government is bailing the company out with a 200m loan. I don't find that a coincidence. Only takes one or two people to say something enough for local people to believe it as unlike shareholders the residents of Scilly aren't going to be doing their own research on HARL as a company. They only care about their ferry services and may believe people posting additional information are trying to help out rather than protecting their own interests.
It's clear now that JW completely underestimated what it takes to start up a new ferry company and his idea of getting it up and running with a full service in time for this season was overly ambitious. The delays in getting finance over the line likely hasn't helped.
