Tricky , yes that’s significant him giving them an endorsement, another interesting thing to note that last year harl were rated one of the top three for renewable energy in the future , I think it was the Indian government but others may recall who it was ,all looking very good for harl imho
Twib I think you are right there
Kaeran,, yes absolutely the future of shipbuilding relies on training the right people through apprenticeships, in Barrow in Furness bae have a purpose built college with approx 1500 apprenticeships on offer for trident project
Add to this probable £270m investment:
a) news of financing
b) IM positive news
Inflation likely to fall to nearer to 3% tomorrow.
I see a 100k and a 70k buy have just been printed. Some chunky buys were seen yesterday too. Some people know some stuff and are now making moves.
The fact that Humza Yousaf, the First Minister for Scotland has given them a positive endorsement for their work bodes well for the application imho. Thanks again for sharing your research LSE.
About 6- 8 months ago EDF announced that between now and the completion of the Hinckley Point completion (no set date on that) they would be offering 30,000 (yes thirty thousand ) apprenticeships at their expense, much to Grant Shapps delight he was energy minister at the time. About two months later EDF announced the project was behind schedule and more funding would be required
Apprentices are so important as they are one of the benchmarks that are considered when awarding financing, grants and probably one of the SIM considerations. Hence we hear multiple mentions. Imo
Xenor yes makes sense
If I were JW I wouldn't bother RNSing anything that isn't legally required before the finance deal is posted. Time and time again we've seen it has no effect on the share price and is often sold into.
This will be RNS worthy some day, when the process is completed and we get awarded the funds.
Maybe stokey
Looking at their news feed:- 6 of the last 9 news items have focused on apprentices-obviously not RNS
2 have focused on preff. bid /contract -obv. RNS
so I guess this sits in between.? Although tremendously important I think they should be balancing their news feed a lot more; and using it to give bang on time news before the press publish. Although Apprentice news are V. important, 6/9 news articles is not well balanced i.m.o.
LSEO3, a vision that hopefully becomes a reality , those strong winds had two ferries moored outside harbour at Heysham , moved in now , they looking at widening the harbour to accommodate more ships part of a huge expansion plan by peel ports and steam packet company and hydrocarbons base supplying gas fields and renewable energy , heliport and offices established
LSE03/Scaffman thanks for this. I note what you said Scaffman about the need for a RNS but I am not sure I would agree with you. I would have thought if it was important enough to put a news item on the website then it surely would justify an RNS Reach.
Scaffman yeah 😂
Faslane ! bubbles
at least H+W have updated their news feed on their website.
Fass lane …auto correct!
Scaffman a lot of work there imho, you may recall that the floating docking bays at fass lane are to be replace I think , now that’s a lot of fabrication work which would also tie with other works at both yards down in Devon they spending 750 million on a docking bay for submarines so imagine the cost for fads lane!
Si_Derman ref 08.02 post Not sure on that if I recall from the April 2 SOWEC announcement there is some event later in the year where evryone will pitch their proposals. I will try and dig up the report.
The floating dry dock proposal for Arnish is interesting.
Wouldn't be much subbing out there on that one...
Pension funds will be the big one I think
That was my take on it also. That SOWEC are just the conduit to public funds through Government Agencies, investors and I guess for the main, the actual offshore wind developers themselves.
The original article was littered with the usual forward looking statements of "aims, hopes and expects" so we will see how they get on. When is the next stage progression going to b e announced?
Twib ref 07.08 post that is my thinking as well. I presume SOWEC will be coordinating as opposed to making direct investment.
