I believe, if they are doing a buy back that means they buy the shares themselves when the price drops to keep the price going up
I've just read there's a£105.00 share price being offered with A 50 minion special dividend afterwards. Kinda send poor to me :(
Thank you for your reply, I am glad I am not the only one. thought I was being really thick.
I just do not know what to do. Why it has to be so confusing I do not understand
Thanks for your help
Not sure if I'm totally right in this response mate. From my understanding the funds that are being given back to share holders are through a buy beck scheme( from my understanding) so if this is the case this would cause the share price to rise. So if you didn't have shares after this happens you wont benefit. ( Again if I'm wrong I opogise) but this is my understanding of it all. You will need to hold off sending your shared until the rise of you want to take advantage of the 590 million buy back. As I've said again first have been very cloudy on their plans to give the funds back. So not sure anyone knows
So do you get the chance to buy them back cheaper after you have sold them, hence getting the payout
Well I have a 20% gain so not sure how long to hang around waiting for what may or may not happen. Generally if they pay out the share price drops the same amount. But they could be just dangling us along so we dont sell?
Sorry to be thick, but can someone explain to me how this works. if I sell my shares for £105.00 how am I getting the so called payout of the Funds. If I have 3000 shares and sell them
I will no longer have my shares, it only makes sense to me if I get the chance to buy them back cheaper
Once again sorry to be thick
No brainer. Anything at 104 or below will be better than a bank account!
Interesting mechanism. Surely the tactics should be to wait until last minute before deciding and either sell all shares under scheme if SP is below 105p or sell none if above. If you want to remain a shareholder still better to sell all at offer price and then rebuy at lower price than to do nothing. If the price is anything below 105 I think you have to sell as likely that the price may being supported by the offer at this price and once the offer goes the share price could fall a lot.
They said share buy back would happen in Autumn, by my reckoning that 's the end of Nov so think we will hear soon regarding the mechanism.
if the share price appreciation maintains at the same rate since announcing (but not paying) the 41p, it will have appreciated by 41p within another 6 months.
On that basis, i'll happily wait 6 months......
FirstGroup intends to publish results for the first half of the financial year on Thursday 9 December 2021
Maybe, just maybe, the details of any payback will accompany these results, here's hoping!
FGP really are pathetic. They come up with some scheme to give back money to shareholder's weeks ago but cant be bothered to explain how it's going to work. But hey what's new, this is typical of them.
I don't think so.
They have enough money to give to shareholders special one-off dividend and buy other smaller company
Thinking about taking a healthy gain. Treated like mushrooms!!!
Could they use the Divi cash to buy another company?
I keep looking at this board in anticipation of a dividend pay out or similar but nothing is said or mentioned by FGP... really strange.
Does anyone know are share holders ever going to get what was suggested?
" The company will now hand back £500m, around 41p a share. The FTSE 250 train-and-bus operator said it has sold the operations $58m more than initially agreed following adjustments for working capital and debt"
Any ideas??
A leveling up of towns and injection of finances directed at infastructure and transport from the budget could well be the reason for the movement over the last couple of days.
Why has the sp gone up so much today - more opening up, Budget ?
Well it’s sold although with retained liabilities more than the sale price it’s a terrible outcome long term. Think they should have wound up or sold this business long ago.
Pyueck Your calculation could be wrong be due to a massive oversight . Please see Ebay item no 274825478521 Go on you know you want to have a look. You will have to laugh ( or at least smile ).
The silence is deafening.
This news about dividend or buyback has gone very quiet. Surely some news should break soon as how it is supposed to work out. Does anyone have any dealings as to how long these actions take to carry out.
