Dear all, is there anyone on this board with experience of the construction industry who can tell me how rising material costs are dealt with in long-term contracts? As all materials are going up n price, does Costain take the hit or are they passed on to customers?
Post on the official Costain logo board. You won't be so lonely and we can enjoy your posts.
On the 5th. Rather positive update which I didn’t read, seems to be going ok and profitable, update early March and they seem to be doing ok. I’m 60% down since they got hit by covid however this will recover over time
don't follow contract wins in general, read this one today that costain and jacobs have been awarded 6.5km widening the A! near newcastle. work is work, hopefully make some money from it
Guys and gals, post on the Cost ( denoted by the Costain Logo), not the LSE logo. You are missing the other posts.
Will funnel billions into construction and Costain I think will do ok. Hope to start clawing back on the current loss,
Spending review, billions being used to develop north and south which is the potential reason for the positive creep up in sp. as covid breaks and Brexit deal gets signed this might motor up a bit
NEW: Boris Johnson told northern Conservative MPs tonight he will oversee the "biggest infrastructure spend for a generation” - despite the coronavirus pandemic.
They have £100m between short term assets and liabilities, But they appear to constantly be in contract arbitration, with huge penalties. My concern is that unless the physical management team have changed the cycle will continue. £45M one hit costs, when you have a market cap of £120M is huge! Have many times will get burnt and repeat the same mistakes.
Only the very brave here or those on the inside. All in my humble opinion, I have no idea of there pipeline of future contracts.
Not for me, GLA.
Holding, buying no more, would like my money at least back please
What is due September 14th?
Due Sept 14th but, per today's RNS, will include a nasty hit from non-appealable judgment that has gone against the company.
Where do you get this 94
Do we not have interim earnings release today ? Or have I missed it.
Needs more evidence of actual success post Covid, the risk of burning through lots of cash on small margins for contractors is huge
A good ride today would be welcome.
Would be good, take 94 for now
Analysts rate this at 94,
Too wobbly, too much risk not enough profit and easy future for investors to see. Until it really shows it’s churning money out and risk falling off a cliff it may struggle to advance greatly
Looked alright to me but shares down??
I wonder if people will buy in before hand or too risky? Has the dust settled with covid and they are fully back up and running?
Are they due an update soon? Seems to be going up slowly. Bought no more, won’t sell out however at a loss and happy to wait it out
I just sense this is on the up. Only buyers from here.
