He's bought in at around 15-18p.
Rest assured - He's here to make money on his stake in Chariot. Lot's of it.
It's why he bought the stock.
Askar Alshinbayev is a very serious commodity investor. He's spotted the same opportunity many of us have been discussing this last 12-18 months.
Meridian owns a chunk of Chariot.
Askar Alshinbayev bought 6% of Chariot (announced today)
A.A. announced acquisition of shares in PetroTal Corp
Meridian had nearly 20% of shares in PetroTal in June 2020.
Meridian is based in Hong Kong which is where A.A. registered office lies.
If you really want to get you head into this take a look at this article - I'd be surprised if Askar Alshinbayev can fully understand what he is up to ! -
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/alshinbayev-announces-acquisition-common-shares-151600490.html
I think there will be a takeover attempt of Chariot by A.A. and his connections.

"partnering is important because it will help us to fund the project while minimizing dilution at the parent company level. And we hope to announce something on that soon".
I still, very much think this raise is because of Anchois negociations and how they are progressing.
Sorry was writing in a rush, I meant tomorrow....this RNs I imagine secures pi take up, as no pumping from the company this is just a very conveniently timed rns
From the recent interview with Chariot's CFO.

Jagua,
You could have opted to right up to and slightly after this RNS.
For many pi's it's the last day of opting in to the share offer, pretty convenient timing of a tr1 confidence booster
Hi Infar,
Eas a direct cut and paste from CHAR simply Wall Steet report.
Not sure how often they update each report, I was under the impression it is each month BUT maybe not all sections? Would that fit better if you include Westland Investments which AP heads up?
Always very hard to find out confirmed data on who owns what.
Any other sources would be appreciated I.e. financial Times anyone?
Very best Sft
Well GP,
Have a look at this artical and the accompanying pie chart and section "who owns it now"
https://www.occrp.org/en/paradisepapers/kazakhstans-secret-billionaires
But the new big boy in AA has definitely showed his well known hand.
Maybe he wants AP job, he has more shares than AP now unless you ignore Westlands (another Caribbean based company) and /or Leto Trust Singapore holding company?
Any way all rather intresting, its a clue why we have NO real institutional investment......YET.
Will all be revealed soon (ish) who/ what form the farm in partner will be ...SAFE if its TotalEnergies (reduced risk in corruption and control ) but I have my doubts and will not be surprised to see a "finance" deal and "we are going it alone" still.
The days/months to do are getting few
Rgds Sft
Sur ? not sure these % s are all correct - A.P. $14.8k 0.01% ?? - I think he has 9% worth about £15m not 0.01% worth $14k
I understood institutions had 25% not 2%?
CFO JR Maurice-Williams 0.048% - doubt it, I've got nearly that many ?
I think maybe the decimal points are out somewhat?
We have had many false dawn's on the last 18 months we have to be right at somepoint and hopefully this is the start.....
Dare I say it but this really could be the catalyst for a sustained rise at last?
Some real confidence shown with proper money and hardly on a whim?!
SB1,
"Asker- Adonis tie up possible to take this private..."
Interesting thought, although I would guess that would only happen AFTER our Moroccan assets have been either hived off into another company or more likely sold outright and sale proceeds returned to shareholders. That I'm guessing would give Asker- Adonis the financial clout (if needed from sale) required to take private the remaining 'green' arms of Chariot which they would probably then IPO & re-list some point down the road if it suits them. Just a thought but stranger things have happened. Remember CHAR green arm could be worth $billions$ at some point in the future, grabbing all the spoils now via Mgt buyout for nominal amount could be too tempting for our board & Asker. All pure speculation of course !!
One thing for sure, Asker has not turned up here now for the fun of it.... interesting times ahead.
PS Great close BTW ... :-)

I wouldn’t have a clue. 🤷🏽.

Intresting as it does look to be a personal build...and as indicated, not through Meridian? Why 🤔

@Starbanker1
They can have it for 100p
Gooner
Asker- Adonis tie up possible to take this private.
between them they have close to 20% now.
with the placement maybe Asker even increased
It rose into the close with the last trade a buy at 15.71p on volume of 2.2 million unless of course we see some late trades reported.
Also the 2 x 200,000 buys earlier this morning too
It has definitely created some interest with 3 trades of 100000+ buys at 15.27p in the last 30 minutes.
Nick, in short, Yes, it probably would.
These rules are very much open to interpretation and abuse and it is up to the individual to declare his holding (if he doesn’t, there is little recourse). But it is entirely possible (based on trading patterns and share price shenanigans over recent months) that Askar has had a 40m buy order in at an average pre-agreed price, that has just been completed. Also, with the General Meeting next week (if he has taken more at the 14p placing) he will be keen to disclose his current position, prior to adding more on 2nd August.
Whimax I agree this isn't anything to do with the placing at 14p as that is yet to be ratified. I am intrigued by your suggestion that a shareholding of over 3% only needs to be reported once the SH has finished accumulating. How can it be judged when someone has finished accumulating? Not sure I fully understand that. Would buying 1 share a day be classed as still accumulating?
Looks as if Askar Alshinbayev has invested his own money and not via Meridian Capital Limited, unless he's fluffed up the RNS notification or some clever tax loophole. Very unusual if it is a personal investment of this quantity and holding, adds to the mystery and intrigue for sure. However, he's done the same at Afentra, moving from 11.96% straight to 21.86%, so guess it should read as Meridian Capital Limited being the official holder, aimo though !! So we should also shortly be added to https://meridiancapitallimited.com/investments/ listing under their Energy and Natural Resources Investments.
Either way, I'm more than happy we are seeing a major holder RNS's increasing their position.

This Notification/Holding RNS has nothing to do with the placing announced on 10th July. The 14p placing has still to be ratified and all new shares being issued are conditional upon that, so cannot be allocated yet.
From the Placing RNS “The Placing, the Subscription and the Open Offer are each conditional, inter alia, upon the passing of the Resolutions by Shareholders at the General Meeting, to be held at the offices of Memery Crystal at 165 Fleet Street, London, EC4A 2DY on 2 August 2023 at 11.00 a.m”
As far as I understand it, 3% is the Threshold at which a holding should be notified to the market, BUT, from memory, there is also a rule stating that you do not need to notify the market until you have finished accumulating, as far as INITIAL position is concerned.
So back to my earlier post. If Askar received 2.9% of the company at the 18p placing (no notification required as under 3%) and continued to accumulate after that date, he doesn’t need to notify until he’s finished. IMHO.
