Likely because the government do not want to be seen wasting tax payers money on people who want to go on holiday, when ironically, they wasted 3.2billion on the Chinese lft’s.
I returned from Spain a week ago having done a lft pre-departure that was also of Chinese origin, posted to me from a British company.
Re "What the govt testing rule actually says is that you can not use the NHS+packaged LFT because you have no way to report the result yourself."
Additionally, the test result would not be independently verifiable.
Re "I'd be surprised if half of the postal pcr tests ever actually get processed."
On what basis are you making that remark? I'd be fascinated to see if you have any evidence???
I'd be surprised if half of the postal pcr tests ever actually get processed.
I think it's more a case of the government not wanting to pay for holiday tests. But they are more than happy to let the UK public get ripped off by pcr testing companies.
Still clumsy!
Fundamentally, if I’m wanting to return from eg Spain to the U.K., I have to take an Ag LFT in Spain 3 days before i do, but GOVT stipulates it cannot be an NHS test. I’d like to know why.
Sorry, clumsy wording from me.
To reword
“ Amber list rules require travellers to take an Ag LFT within 3 days of returning BACK TO the U.K, but categorically state this cannot be the “NHS” test (ie Innova, Orient Gene). Is the government concerned that these tests aren’t fit for that purpose? If not, why won’t they allow them to be used?
Muck165.
I have one of these tests in hand. I arrived back from Amber list yesterday.
The test is to be taken on day 2.
I cannot send a photo on here if the product unfortunately.
Good stuff PL - thanks. A question from me…

Up to you to decide whether to include…
Thanks again
Sajid David. He'll be busy with the jab for donner kebab as per the daily mail article.
Thanks for the additions, I’ll try to draft something tomorrow. I’ll try to focus on forward looking stuff. The legislation has passed. I’m not sure what the red flag was, but I’ll try and find out. I’d hope they wouldn’t be stupid enough to continue with innova, but they’ve done it before…. Orient Gene and other Chinese NP tests shouldn’t be to sneak in either.
The legislation closes down the PD freezer problems, so at least we can look forward to a fairer playing field hopefully where the obvious superior performance will shine through. The issue with talking about the £3bn is that it’s gone, it’s banked, the govt will just spout nonsense, delete private messages and trails of brown envelopes so it feels it’s a dead end to push on that front. Nice for some political point scoring, but I don’t care about that, I’m more interested in the best British tests being procured and used widely.
The new desktop regulatory process is bypassed when the government have procured a test for distribution free of charge. This bypass could be applied to Affidx in an emergency but unfortunately emergency use seems inapplicable now despite that it would level the field with Innova. HMG must have thought they had solved the domestic dilemma caused by PD but obviously there is a perceived favouritism when they feel the need for the level playing field for domestic tests via desktop review but not for Innova and Healgen.
I would expect this problem to resolve itself naturally with capacity build up and what I would attack is the belief that PCR somehow is better than LFTs when it is not. In cooler weather the virus spreads easier is my homespun theory because it does not rise above reach of nostrils . It seems jabs might be circumvented by lambda? and Affidx is better at stopping spread than PCRs so when cool weather resumes jabs and PCR will fail.
I know it is not popular to think that the cabinet is not trying hard but if lessons are learnt about how to support industry post brexit then this is good.

Would send her the links to both the Huff Post and LA Times news articles. Together they crystallise the Innova scandal pretty well.
Also think the steamrolled home use approval ( against Innovas own instructions) is the crux of the scandal and this is what she should be asking about in parliament.
Why was the government testing our children with poor quality Chinese made tests that even by the manufacturers own instructions were never designed for home use ? All the while ignoring superior quality British developed, British made tests ?
Thanks.
So what we know:
1. The government have not passed the Avacta Test
2. The Avacta test has been independently validated to a very high CT count and high S&S (not to even mention Mologic's test as well)
So THIS is what I don't understand:
WHY haven't the government looked at the discrepancy in detail given that these are UK developed and manufactured tests??? Clearly Avacta and Mologic have tried to have conversations and a lot of 'stonewalling' has been going on from the government. The question is why does a Brexit government not bend over backwards to support UK companies when there is are clear discrepancies being demostrated.
Secondly, why are Innova not being held to the same rigorous testing? I understand the government have bought and want to use, but you should still be putting them through the same testing.
Really simple questions that need answering, though I expect there to be waffle, deleted emails / messages, and more stonewalling to follow. You couldn't make it up.
Thanks all, this is good stuff - keep em coming
PL75,
I would suggest ask why top quality LFD's (with s&s of say min 98%) cannot be used as the equivalent of a PCR test, thus providing a rapid non invasive quality test at low cost. If necessary a positive result can then be backed up by a PCR test. This would be a massive boost to travel and other business.
Do Mp's have to give the back handers aswell???????
If FDA are telling Americans to send them back to Innova for a refund.
Can the UK government send their stocks back and receive a refund for the British Tax payers.
Raising a question about Ct levels is a great one Scarab, these details are often missing from other CVs and it’s hugely important for a green light test. Mowser, keep up the good work - just let the kids play in the background while the adults have a conversation
I wrote to Dawn Butler. No reply, but I like to think that the info contributed to this attention-grabbing exit from HOC after calling Boris a liar!

I working really hard at ignoring the stupid posts… I just wanted to commend the others who have been ignoring them as well.
With the fully vaccinated shedding virus which can only be picked up at ct levels of around 27, how does the innova test compare to pcr. If the innnova test goes down to 50 % or lower then. There is no point using of them.
PL - well done! I guess all we can do is chip away but by bit with these MPs. Mine is a Tory and I’ve already fallen out with him back in January. He literally tried to shield himself with at risk kids to avoid answering questions about children being sent back to school amid rocketing cases - never has he ever done anything for children, at risk or otherwise.
But anyone with a non Tory MP should definitely write to their MP. Maybe the letter could be reposted on this thread?
I might write a letter to mine to ask if he uses his personal phone to conduct government matters and if he does, does he back up emails and WhatsApp… I’m sure it will p i s s him off but hey… he was involved in the expenses scandal so he might need ‘reminding’
