I'm confused by some of the post on here today some are outright provocations and insults whilst others just defy logic. For example, how is it possible to be 'six months on and no closer to a decision'? Quite simply whenever to decision is made we NOW must be six months closer to it than we were six months ago. Peps may complain about the process and inertia in the 'process' but we are now at the end of it and a decision will be made. Some of us hope for the go ahead and believe that it is the only logical outcome. Likewise, if peps don't like the apparent Socialist beliefs/principles of the Swedish people the go elsewhere to complain about cultural stereotypes most of us here aren't interested. Historically Sweden has had a very successful mining industry and made a decent living selling iron ore to the Germans who had a different type of socialism regime(national) in the 1940s. So be patient peps and all will be well in the end.
Good post earlier John. Sums it all up very well, in my view. I can't see a decision coming after the elections in September, as it wouldn't make any sense. To me anyway. With all that is known. Best of luck to us.
;-) I believe so...anyway, its much bigger than us.
Maybe this is all just a ceremony of innocence....
I agree with you Treetop. Let's x and make up.
He would also be scathing about filthy lucre but he was a bit of a hypocrite. Though I love him all the same, I'm full of passionate intensity...nobody's perfect. :-)
W.B.Yeats was one of the greatest Irishmen. He would be scathing about the swede's shameful cowardice. Turning and turning... ...slouching towards a decision.
Just thinking about your ever decreasing circles post...ever decreasing towards the centre...I like that. :-) The centre cannot hold...the best lack all conviction while the worst are full of passionate intensity. Gosh! Makes you think, doesn't it?
Your wish is granted. You aren't making any money.
In no way did I imply we should encourage child labour nor bad conditions Suzy and I do admire the socialist sentiment but a balance has to be made or a nation cant afford benefits either. Sweden has moved too far along the pendulum and this is just one example.
Treetop...."Steeped in a socialist mindset" that has made it one of the best countries in the world to live in, I invested in it because of that not despite it. I don't want to make any money from bad conditions and child labour.
MickOC....That is an appropriation of the word evidence. Why did you buy back in here, it's a mystery to me?
Your post is all common sense John but we are dealing with a nation steeped in a socialist mindset here and seemingly paralysed with fear at offending anyone. The desire to please is a laudable sentiment but an apparent inability to make a decision in case it offends is a benefit to nobody and stifles businesses, the very people who pay the taxes and create jobs for all the benefits socialism wants to slosh about. Pressure to decide has been growing and I hope the foryhcoming election prompts one or two ministers to decide and look like leaders.
In your opinion, of course history would show that we no closer to a decision than we were 6 months ago, the government will take as long as it wishes to. My bet now is not before summer recess.
The government will make a decision in the not to distant future because:- 1.The eyes of the mining world are now firmly on the Swedish Government due to the negative publicity this has attracted over the past couple of years in particular. 2.lack of decision will push Sweden further down the list of potential places to invest in mining (especially a negative one) 3.A lack of decision prior to the elections later in the year will not inspire confidence in Swedish voters.A government continually shelving and delaying a decision when they have all the evidence, smacks of incompetence and not in the best interest of a government trying to get re-elected. 4.A decision especially a positive one could prove to be a real vote grabbber. 5.Potential tax revenues from such a project must cross their minds in order to benefit Swedish society as a whole. 6.The responsibility to stem unemployment, create new jobs and regenerate depressed areas is the duty of any government and one they have been reminded of often enough. The list can go on indefinitely but on those points alone it would be difficult not to make a decision.imho.atb.
Sooz, you've been convinced since about 2010. Lol. x
Thanks for that Ed. I won't comment on lb, only to say that he is certainly consistent, unbending in his thoughts about the Government, which is fair enough, and we either believe that a decision will be made by the Government or it won't. Some of us may also obviously be more optimistic about the outcome of this than others. I say good luck to us Ed, to all who remain invested. Your holding remains significant, so that says much, in my opinion. We've been through a shocker with this, but many of us are still holding strong, with our original investments, perhaps having also added more over the years. The small matter of a huge premium iron deposit. That could be why eh? Night Ed.
Hi Eric Just been catching up on the posts after a busy weekend. I really admire your handling of the discussion/argument between you and lbjj. I still have him filtered but I saw your responses and I can imagine what his posts said. I'm sure it will have revolved around us never ever getting a permit award, surprise surprise. My honest opinion of the man is that he is barking mad. No interest in the share and yet he comes onto the site on a regular basis just to cause trouble by repeating the same garbage that he's been spouting for years. Some time ago a friend of mine who is also into BEM after I told him about the share called me and told me about lbjj's latest pearls of wisdom.Seemingly In lbjj's crazy world I don't really have him on filter I just pretend that I do and read his posts in secret. WHAT !! But the best one was the one that convinced me that he's barking mad. He posted to say that I don't actually have any BEM shares. I just pretend that I do to bigger my self up a bit. In actual fact I do have a few (million that is ). I'm sure that you, Suzy & tintin, like myself myself, are all confident that this share will cross the permit finish line in the not too distant future as there are no more reasons or excuses for delaying tactics. As you know Eric, I have quite a large holding in this share but I do sleep nights as I have no worries about the outcome. In the words of my old mate Samual Pepys. "And so to bed" atb to you Suzy & tintin
Well...you've convinced me. n n
of when part of the CAB really wanted a mine last year.. Internal documents reveal: shared sentences about the Kallak mine On Friday, the county administrative board is expected to comment on the question of a possible mining establishment in Kallak outside Jokkmokk. And according to internal documents that leaked, the business department at the government is positive about opening the mine. - I do not want to forego the overall assessment from us on the county administrative board. I know it has leaked out an internal document but it's nothing that I think you're going to make too big. There are more departments than we to comment on, "says Andreas Lind, chief executive officer at the county administrative board in Norrbotten. "Different perceptions in the mining issue" Andreas Lind is dissatisfied that the internal documents have leaked and are very few. Is it a crack in the county administrative board? - I would not call that. On the other hand, there are different perceptions in the mining question. Infected question The question of a possible mining establishment in Kallak has been infected. Many cohabitants but also private individuals have protested loudly while many locals and local councilors hope for new jobs through a mine opening. The case has been bumped between authorities and has also been up at government level, but the county administrative board has previously refrained from commenting on the need for further investigation of the impact of mining activities on the Laponia world heritage. New jobs Before the county administrative board's position on Friday, several departments within the Authority say that, but according to SVT News Norrbotten, the business unit in its opinion on socio-economic benefits - both for Jokkmokk as a local and national - points to the opening of the mine in Kallak. According to SVT, the business department emphasizes the opportunities for employment, but it also makes a reservation about the employment effect. "However, the final outcome is dependent on the share of the additional labor that finally settles in the municipality", it will be included in the internal document. "I'm not going to comment on any details, but it's clear that a mine in Jokkmokk means more jobs," says Andra Lind.
yes, Endgame indeed. no more consultations. No more irrelevant case law. No more whining...A decision will be made soon. Given the massive profits to be made on a Yes, I'm surprised more investors/gamblers aren't getting in on this. My prediction of 6 May still hold true methinks..... Lbjj? get a life mate - the sun's out, Spring has sprung.......
Yes, then we had the Norra Karr cobblers and discovered that the MI apparently could not make the final decision, because it didn't believe the authority was there etc, I know all that, and you don't need to remind me or anyone else what has transpired prior. But what can you think of this time, that can now be used by the Government as an excuse for it not making the decision? All have had their say on our application, there is no Norra Karr issue, our application standing up well in relation to that ruling and therefore any like it, the MI endorsing such, the CAB's view is also out in the open, so what else can the Government call upon to prevent it from doing its job? Nothing left lb, is there? The spotlight is also on Sweden and its significant investment ranking slide down the pan and the Government general elections are due in September. What better way to sign off than to create a few hundred jobs? Perfect timing. End game pal, in my opinion, but you either believe it or you don't. That is your choice. However, for someone who isn't invested here again yet, you appear to be as obsessed as I am with it, which I find rather strange. Lol. I don't want to continue this ping-pong with you really lb, our opinions differ, which is ok with me, so best wishes if you are still considering buying in post-concession award. Cheers.
Sorry. Utter nonsense. 3 years ago, the application was with the government for a final decision. Expectation on this very board was that the government would reach a decision, and you were full of that expectation. It sat on the application for over 12 months and then passed it to the MI. I don't need to repeat the litany of horsesh*t manoevring which has blighted any progress since then, do I? 3 years have elapsed without a decision and the paperwork IS gathering dust on the government's desk again. Endless requests for comments and comments about comments have told the government nothing they have not known all along. Saying the government will soon make a decision simply because they haven't made one already is laughable. Will you still believe a decision is imminent in another five years just because you and Suzy telleach other they should? Come on Eric. You know there is no sign of any decision. That is all that counts.
I've just outlined the forward motion and you have chosen to ignore it. Fair enough. We have been officially told that the Government is going through the submissions, the application and relevant paperwork from interested parties are not all lying around untouched and gathering dust. To say there is zero progress is bull5hit lb. The Government would not be dealing with the submissions if its intention was to do nothing whatsoever to close the file on this case. It would be letting everything sit dormant. We have not yet been given a timescale for the decision, but the progress here is clear to see, if you choose to. Have a good evening.
There has been no decision. Everything else is just fluff and noise. What commitment is there from the government to make a decision? None. Have the government agreed to a timetable for a decision, requested by the company? No. I would call that zero progress.
