Oke there is absolutely no excuse for some of MM, LinkedIn post. It was at best poor and some of it felt like it was written by a spoiled brat.

You simply can't behave like that as the CEO of a listed business. Even the most ardent supporters of MM would privately concede the SP would much higher if it run by an experienced CEO. I would love to see someone else in charge but that's not going to happen unless there is a successful hostile takeover.

The Numis episode is in the context of THG shares ancient history. To my way of thinking, whilst MM keeps on harping back to it because he thinks it helps justify his petulant behaviour it doesn't help anyone of us.

It's history and all that matters is the future and ensuring MM and his supporters don't take this private at low price to enhance their future carry values. If you look back to his time at Phones4U with John Caldwell you start to get an insight into why Matt is confrontational, John built his business rapidly then sold out to PE at the very top of the market for over £2 billion.

FWIW I don't think MM is a dictator or for that matter a bad person. His persona is out there for everyone to see and you make your investment decisions accordingly.

Twists and turns a plenty that's for sure :-) At times its all a bit of soap opera but I remain invested for as long as it takes for the businesses value to seen in the SP.

At the risk of repeating myself ad nauseam, I have worked with & for a number of people very similar to MM, control is everything to them, they have lofty dreams & ambitions and they hold a deep seated belief that they and only they can make those dreams come to fruition. His confrontational stance comes having a binary view of colleagues/partners/investors, you are either demonstrably in support of everything he says and does or you are against him, there is no neutral or middle position, your in or you are out.

My long held opinion is this, he will do everything to find a way to hold on to the existing GS structure or find another mechanism to keep control and that's why I think doing a deal with a PE house will always be very difficult. Looking ahead the only way I can see him comprising is if there's a hostile bid at a price strong enough to challenge his supporters loyalty.

Acquisitions are never simple, in this case its MM insistence on retaining total control that makes any PE deal very difficult, ask Apollo. MM wants his cake and wants to eat it and you can't have both. Control is the reason for the golden share, its also the reason so many staff have been gifted so many shares because MM has significant influence on them. The next milestone for me is September , his golden share and the manoeuvring he will do to retain it or substitute for it for something very similar.

Whether MM can unlock the true potential of the business remains to be seen, but thats for 2024/5.

Steve, there is no doubting he has his flaws but you cannot dispute his belief in the business.

What I find most compelling in his message is that the focus is not on the price offered, but the terms.

Like it or like it not, MM is obsessed by being in control and my personal opinion is he will fight tooth and nail to retain his golden share (control) and it follows I have very serious doubts about him relinquishing it in September.

As for the business, I believe overall it's a good business with the potential to be a great business and will be buying at these lower levels

Apollo are locked for 6 months unless THG formally invite them back, someone else's announces an offer for THG or there a there a material change in THG circumstances and the takeover panel gives Apollo permission to re-engage.

As it keeps falling I will keep buying, the more it falls, the more I will buy.

If you believe in the deal then the current price is a gift, if you don't then I am not sure why you would still be invested because there has been loads of profitable exit points in the past two weeks.
