Many of you - especially Rockhead - will remember the months of battle I had getting my 40p Options entitlement from the 2017 Rights Issue credited to my account by Barclays. They didn't understand what I was talking about (!!!) despite everything being there in black-and-white in SGZ's original RNS.

Well, I thought that at long last this had been resolved. So today I thought I'd go ahead and exercise the Options. Since the correct number of Options are there, attached to my account, which both I and Barclays can see on the screen, I naively believed that this would be an easy-peasy transaction over the phone.

Not so. Once again, they have no idea what I am talking about! After several referrals back and fore to various "colleagues", the matter is now pending!

It's surreal. This is supposedly the biggest online dealing service and they have no idea how to handle a case of Options attaching to a Rights Issue. It's unbelievable.

Yes, Baz. It has been a long haul. A coincidence really that I should have purchased my first shares in SGZ in the same year that Mr Disraeli was investing for Britain in the Suez Canal Company.

It's a possibility I've had at the back of my mind for quite some time, Baz. And 50p was exactly the figure I'd thought would be the striking rate for such a move. As we all know, many LTHs would hardly even break even at 50p, let alone enjoy any reward for their long-term loyalty. I might be tempted at £1, but even then it wouldn't be the profit that I'd had in mind in the heady days when some of our illustrious colleagues on this long journey were talking of selling at 50p in old money, which of course would be £50 these days!

Hello R, yes you have a good memory. It will be my birthday on the 28th. 71. So I shall be celebrating in quiet style, no wild partying for me. As cheap as 520p, Eck? You're the lucky one. I've got a few at the 'Hello, Naive One's' price of 600+p. Same, I believe as good old BBB. I have managed over the years to bang, bash and strangle the average down to just over 50p. But I'm not holding my breath about seeing a + on that while BoJo's still PM (or even the Yet Unborn!).

SGZ is definitely a company where simple age demographics will determine whether or not you get your money back. I know from previous conversations on here that many of we LTHs are already heading down the final furlong, so it's improbable that we'll see a positive return before we cross the finishing line.

Yes, Blakeney, I hope I can exercise my options this time, after the months of battle to get Barclays to actually credit them to my account. Like I think I remember you yourself saying a few weeks ago, it would be good to see the funds actually going towards the company's endeavours, rather than us using them to buy existing shares in the open market.

Do the high honchos in the company read this forum and see the frustration which is quite frequently expressed about the paucity of communication? If not, some individuals on here have personal contact with them and could maybe mention it?

Hello Morar, it's a weakness that I've encountered time and again with AIM companies over the years. The personnel might be brilliant (even world-beating) in their respective specialisms as geologists, engineers, miners, accountants or whatever. But they are unskilled themselves at communications (why should they be any different, that's not what they are best at getting on with) and overlook the benefits of spending a few tens of grand on employing someone who is.

The lack of share availability is a good point, Samson. I have said before that the concentration of shares in very few hands is a two-edged sword. It exudes confidence but, at the same time, makes the prospect of acquiring a big stake by anybody else less easy.

Well, I have never exercised any SGZ options yet, Baz, so why break the habit of a lifetime? Well, OK, maybe not a whole lifetime, but sometimes with SGZ it feels like it, LOL.

You make a good point BBB, which has occurred to me more than once. This substantial investment by a very small number of people, and one in particular, is something of a two-edged sword. It has given us stability, confidence and the financial wherewithal to get the mine into being. But, on the other hand and as you say yourself, how is this going to help the sp ever rise if there is such a limited number of shares for the wider investing public to buy? Personally, I don't see the sp being very much higher than it is today even when gold is coming out of the ground and up for sale.
