Fortunately for most of we old-timers we've had the opportunity to average down in the meantime, but I think there are still some who need to see a few 100% increases before they break even. The great thing about SGZ is this BB, which has never seen the unpleasant level of acrimony that you get on so many others. It's all a bit like a jolly club really. (Some day I'll let you into the mysteries of Miss Wemyss, Sir Jasper and Champion the Wonder Horse).

I feel for you, Bellers. I learnt the painful lesson about AIM miners and oilies ten years or so ago. There were several utter disasters in my portfolio of unredeemed red. The worst was Xcite Resources - page after page of posts from rampers at the end of 2010 - "this share is totally de-risked". De-risked, de-risked, de-risked, they went on and on about it. Well if that's their idea of de-risked, I dread to think how they'd define a calamity waiting to happen. After losing a huge amount on Xcite and a few others like Range Resources, I decided to move into SGZ and just wait patiently. Fortunately, after ten years of waiting, SGZ has just about wiped out my losses.

My average is about 50p after the options. I didn't expect to get another chance to lower it at this stage of the mine's progress.

Hi glenalmond, I have actually bought in here, but with only what you might call a 'toehold'. Just like to think that I've got a very small part in what's going on. But of course I do agree completely with you that "what's going on" will be "going on" very slowly. Funnily enough, just yesterday I was thinking that, based upon my 10 years with SGZ, I may or may not even live long enough to reap rewards with ERIS, LOL. Now there's a happy thought for a Thursday. Many thanks for the welcome. I had a little top up at lunchtime, so that my holding has moved from being 'minuscule' to being 'tiny'. And amazingly I seem to have bought on a dip! Very rare for me to get timing right!

I tried posting this a minute ago, but got caught by a thread deletion which was nothing to do with me. Yellow, I'm glad to read that abusive behaviour is rare here. I have seen some thoroughly horrible BBs over the years, where the atmosphere is often worse than the meeting of drunken gangs of rival football supporters. I'm interested in the prospects here, and may make an entry when excitement dies down a bit. I'm surprised that so many people make the mistake I always did when I first came into AIM, of trying to catch a wave. Apart from tsunamis, the sea doesn't work in one continuous wave.

Not sure if I'm foolish or lazy or just plain unadventurous. But I've never traded, not in any share. I'm the archetypal LTH. This probably means that I've lost out on quite a bit over the years, but I really cannot be arsed selling, buying back 2 or 3 pennies cheaper, selling, buying back... There are those who do. Good luck to them. Each to their own.

No, no, Bellers, twas I who gave SXX The Kiss of Death by moving in the opposite direction to you. I bought a few SXX just before Xmas and had a wee top-up last Friday. Good Timing, I guess you could say, because it looks as though I've made a few hundred pounds on my punt, though I feel desperately sorry for folk who've been left well high and dry. And when I say I moved in the opposite direction, that isn't strictly accurate. I haven'd sold a single one of my SGZ shares, some of which I've had for almost 10 years. My average is about 50p, so I'm happy at that.

Very true on SXX, Eck. I was in years ago and left. Hadn't been back. Then, just before Xmas, I tried a bit of bottom-feeding myself for once. But only 50k shares (there's a limit to my adventurism!), so I'll have made a few £100s. Like you, I feel devastated for the LTHs.

Hi R, the answer to your question is 'kind of'. They haven't been amalgamated into my total holding on the online portfolio, but I've had verbal reassurances that this is just a technical delay and the options are all paid for and purchased. After things are 110% complete I'm thinking of switching to Redmayne Bentley. I like the cut of their jib on their website. They look as though they are a lot smaller and you'd get a better service than from a giant outfit like Barclays. But does anyone have any experience of them in practice? Regards, y

Seems to me an excellent way to promote a forthcoming tourist attraction.

But like I was trying to say first time round, video systems and bulbs will pale into insignificance compared to the hundreds of billions that will be wasted, from private consumer right through to government, if they get this one wrong.

One has done very well, toneman. Scotgold Resources was about 31 this time last year and is 82 today. If you mean by "recently" the last few weeks, it's hit 80 before, retrenched to the mid-60s, and is now on the way back up.

Yes, I can understand what you are saying about the effect of geo-politics, particularly with regard to mainstream stocks. But, interestingly, of the five AIM shares that I hold, only ITM is down today. Two of the others are stationary and the other two are up.

Welcome, Broon. This is the friendliest BB I have ever encountered. I think the point Candydog was making is that it is composed for the most part of LTHs (many of us in SGZ for 10 years or more), who engage in civilised and polite discussion, and then only when there is something worth saying. Even the resident detractor of the share is regarded, if truth be told, with a degree of affection. Thank God this BB is not overwhelmed, like others, by ridiculous figures of 500 or more posts a day, 499 of which are of the bitter and venemous "F Off, Loser!" type. May it always stay that way.
