Ten years! And now I'm pondering taking it all out (what's left of it) and putting it on a bloomin' horse :) What a disaster.

In twenty years time, HH, maybe some lovely young lady from somewhere like Estonia will be bending over me and saying "Here you are, Mr yayay. your afternoon tea and your favourite gypsy creams. Now, try hard to remember SGZ. And laugh."

As I have said on here many, many times, as someone who comes from a totally different background, I always defer to the professional expertise of others, like Samson, Rockhead and several more of you. But, as a amateur, I am just dumbfounded as to how things would appear to have gone so wrong in the basics, given what I thought were credible CVs of the people concerned and - as I have said before - the fact that getting the mine into production was not exactly sprung on them at five minutes' notice. I guess that Samson and others will be able to throw some light into my fog of confusion.

Well, BlakeneyP, I think I am going to have to dig very deep into the annals of the village to bring any sort of light and humour on to this board this week. Even Miss Wemyss on her harmonium will have her work cut out raising the spirits.

I echo your sentiments, Samson. And I too wish I had sold out when we were at 160ish. But I don't think we should castigate ourselves over much for any submission to "greed". We had stuck with this company, through thick and thin (mainly thin!) for - in the case of many of us - over a decade, and I think we deserved some reward. Someone was saying only a few days ago - I think it may have been BlakeneyP or Bellers - about the opportunity cost of having invested here. As I have said myself, tongue in cheek, on more than one occasion, Aye, we'd have got a better return in an instant access savings account. And we can be forgiven for believing that we would get a reward for our loyalty, not a pandering to greed, when we read the hubristic words of our then CEO on 1st December, "Today's news is therefore a landmark event both for the Company and for Scotland". Not yet quite up there with Bannockburn, Richard.

I'm pretty much inured to gloom. The only small mercy is that April is one of those months with only 30 days. So one less day to sit in our sackcloth waiting for the almost inevitable next setback. It's being so cheerful keeps me going :)

You've had the same thoughts as me about St Bride's, R. I have not noticed any greater professionalism about news management since they were engaged than before. The content of the news - good or bad - is not entirely relevant, I feel. It is the 'cultivation' of the market which I thought professional PR people would have been adept at. The proverbial tea lady could surely handle 'Wham Bam Out of the Blue' Good news/Bad News at rather less cost.

For 'tis the birthday of the Hon. Basil (Mark 1). The gates of the Hall have been garlanded in roses and Sir Jasper's tenants have assembled there to wish felicitations to this most noble young man. See, here comes Champion, once more restored to the bucolic bliss of our village, and hauling the harmonium, around which the crowd of happy villagers will gather to sing in celebration of this most joyous occasion.

Respect to Prentice for his fortitude in staying with this for the long term. Sadly, unlike him, I just haven't got the mental stamina for ANOTHER ten years waiting for this. It's like standing at the foot of the Eiger with a Cwt. bag of cement strapped to your back. For one thing, as I understand it (maybe incorrectly), we'd have to go back and start all over again with the National Park within the next ten years, and I remember too painfully how long that took the first time round.

This has been my wish for all of 2021. It is just the personal position of one of the Tired and Weary stalwarts from 2010. I realise that it may well not accord with the views of even others of that vintage, let alone those of you who have become shareholders much more recently.

But for some time I have wished that some big miner (ie one that actually knows how to mine) would make NLR an offer of £1 a share. And that he would accept it, to offload this catastrophe of a company. Now many of you may well scream that £1 seriously undervalues the company. To me, the fact that all of us combined would have no influence over that would actually be a blessing in disguise. It would make the decision for us. I myself am now so demoralised by Scotgold that I'd be happy with £1 a share to knock this heap of rubbish on the head for once and for all, and to bring to a merciful end these years of unmitigated misery.

That's not very nice, greenhighlander. OK, maybe after discussion you'd have mutually agreed that your skill set didn't really match the needs. But not to reply to you at all is just blatant discourtesy.

Very sorry to hear about your wife, Bellers, but glad that she retains her wit and wisdom. I can add to her observation. As I've mentioned before I've got a Border Terrier, and on one of the breed's Facebook pages the other day someone had posted a video of one scrambling with its front paws in a burn, with ultimate success. If I send mine up to Tyndrum with a small pack of others, maybe we can finally get into production.

I am beginning to feel an unlikely sympathy for the eco-warriors.

Was it worth disturbing the National Park for this fiasco? We investors have been let down again and again and again and again. I'm wondering how the locals are feeling?

Frankly I think I'd sooner a socially-distanced evening in a mausoleum with Chris Whitty and Patrick Vallance than opening ANY RNS from SGZ.

Pandemonium in the village! A stranger, a Mr Acronym, has turned up at the doors of the Dog & Duck (Take-Away Service Only) with devastating news. Someone has stolen the canal! Everyone is a-flutter. My dear father, Mr Keeper, fears the dread of the Workhouse before him and Miss Wemyss, so heavily invested in the Canal Company, has succumbed to one of her periodic bouts of The Vapours, as she sees her cherished new harmonium recede further from her grasp. A search party has been hastily organised by Sir Jasper. For Champion, at least, this is a godsend. Fetched back from his wretched life as a cab-horse for his specialist forensic knowledge of what a canal looks like. Though, because equine olfactory powers have not the strength of the canine, the Border Terrier of a passing vagabond has also been pressed into service. He and Champion have formed a working partnership that may overcome our disaster. "You sniff it out, I'll tell you if it's blue".

I know exactly what you mean, HH. After waiting with extraordinary patience for SGZ (I think Gordon Brown was still PM when I bought in), I should have top-sliced when it got to about 170. Only to watch a whole £1 wiped off within weeks for every single share I (and many, many other LTHs) held. There's an argument for not having too much patience.
