No, I will NOT be "tucking these away for two or three years". I am sick to the back teeth of "tucking away" AIM shares. I have been "tucking them away" for just about the whole of the 2000s. And not one, not a single ONE, has ever rewarded my patience.

AIM is an utter circus in which traders will always make money. Gullible folk who think there's anything at the end of the rainbow for a long-term investor will always be punched metaphorically in the guts, to find that this was nothing but a total delusion.

I have been naive for almost 20 years. The scales have taken a long time to fall from my eyes, but fall they are. To reveal that UFO - like all the rest - is nothing but a ramper's wet dream. Add it to the list, on which appear Pan Pacific, Range, Xcite, Sirius, Scotgold, and on and on. None of these "totally de-risked" "Big News Coming" outfits EVER came good.

Investor? You might just as well stick it all on a horse.

Not stagnation. Falling further is not stagnation. Even today, twelve months on, I am still reeling from what happened at SGZ. When, after 10 years of waiting to get back into the blue, the management savagely announced a placing about 30% below the then sp. And from there it just went from worse to worse, so that within a few weeks the participants in the placing had lost 50% of THEIR investment as well.

Not sure about the low ball offer, MP. If that were the case, surely it would need to be declared in an RNS? "Exploratory discussions" would be a different matter, but an offer is an offer and would need to be made public, I'd have thought.

I do have sympathy with Peach. The same thing happened to me with SGZ. There, many of us had waited 10 years (Yes, 10 whole years!) to get back into the blue. And just as we were at long, long, long last beginning to show a bit of profit, the management torpedoed the sp with a placing at a huge discount.

it's a very acquired style of life to be a trader. I would say sad, but then it's a free country, each to their own. I am retired so, in theory, have all the time in the world. But I couldn't begin to contemplate locking myself in a room all day, every day, glued to a battery of flashing screens. That's OK for them, I guess, but I have rather more fish to fry. One thing's for sure, there cannot be any trader who is also a dog owner :-))

You speak for many of us who have tried over the years to be investors in AIM, twiceasnice. I dread the appearance of the 'herd', because we know that within 24 hours they'll be thundering off in yet another direction.

Agree, Panderman. But what we do NOT want is a second consecutive day of red, let alone three. I think a lot of us would suffer a real blow to the guts if UFO starts slipping and sliding AGAIN.

Well, I did say to Dickie a few weeks ago, it would be nice to see two consecutive days of blue - let alone three! This has been the pattern for month after month now... blue, red, blue, red, blue, red. It's become almost as predictable as night following day.

Yes, I can see that, dickie. The only two drawbacks to that are availability of funds, which don't always coincide with dips, and the timescale. As I implied, for those of us who are in our twilight years, yes, we are planning to sell. We are perhaps OK with 2-year, maybe even 5-year 'rides', but beyond that there's not much point in holding on to an investment that will go towards paying for funeral costs.

Slimgizmo, I applaud you for your honesty. 'Trapped' is a word used far too infrequently on these boards. People prefer to put it more often in terms such as 'holding tight' (which I did myself yesterday). I often think that folk who look at jam in a far distant tomorrow can only be those who are aged 50 or under. I have also said on more than one occasion that, with some of my 'hold tight' shares, I'd actually have got a better return over 10 years from a Post Office Savings Account.

Yes, smiller, I'm holding tight. Patience is a well-honed virtue when you invest in these AIM stocks. But there'll come a day when my executors have to do the selling rather then me :)

One does have to ask the question, how low is this going? I remember HH (whose comments are always worthy of respect) saying he thought the retrace was overdone at 0.80. At the moment it seems to have an inevitability of being sub 0.50 well before Christmas (possibly even before the end of the week!).

If you come back in 1000 years, you can bet UFO will be trading in the range 0.70-0.80. Even a total collapse to zero would be more interesting than this.

You've identified a weakness with many juniors on AIM, wentsland. They may be run by world-class geologists or oil men or engineers, but they too often lack the salary base to support a full range of specialisms on their executive board. I have been in many AIM juniors which had solid progress in what they did on the ground (or under the sea), but desperately, desperately needed a full-time, experienced Director of Corporate Communications.

Agreed, silverhorse. If the ETA for The Second Coming of Christ was announced for three months hence, the market would show nothing but red until he was actually collecting his baggage from Arrivals.

I've been in AIM long enough to believe, cynically, that "the market" has got b*gger all to do with what's happening with any company.

With the greatest respect, DRB83, aren't your first two sentences somewhat contradictory? The first one exudes confidence. The second one more realistically warns that the confidence cannot be substantiated. So if UFO can't prove it, how can we?
