RE: Bounce back8 Apr 2025 07:43
Nlgb, I believe that Trumps rating have increased since he took this action but there are 2 different groups here.
one are the big (relatively very few) firm bosses who want globalisation because its makes them vastly richer against the hugely populous, american "worker" who, through globalisation have seen their industries decimated and earnings reduced due to lower wages elsewhere in the world.
Trump is the president of the US, not the world. Its his job to make the US and its citizens wealthier.
Where I think this likely falls down is that if he brings production back to the states is that the cost of production through higher wages, will make their goods uncompetitive, (which is why the jobs were outsourced in the first place), and won't sell globally.
If he goes down the self sufficient route ala the old USSR, then that normally leads to economic and industrial stagnation making it hard to catch up.
Basically wherever you live in the world and whatever you do, throughout the history of mankind, if you have money its a better place then if you are poor. Today is no different.
It remains to see how this plays out, but when you are poor or feel you have little or nothing, with little or no opportunity to change things, then you consider whatever options present themselves and when Trump stood for election many saw that has a lifeline.
