certainly looks as though demand is still there for more stock.

This big swing up, is that there were no sellers left except the die-hards that were going to see it to the end however bad it might have turned out. Therefore any substantial demand shoots the SP up.

If it is sucking in traders then we are in for a roller coaster as its a bit messy now between 2.9 and 3.65p.

But thats because I am not a long term holder by nature.

So if a share goes up say, 30% (or more) it will retrace as some people will take profits and some other potential buyers won't want to buy at the top.

The only thing that would give me pause for thought is if the news that propels the Stock in the first place is solid enough to see if more is more likely.

This news is a good example. Its very good but we have no idea what it will do for sales or what the margins are. Will it just take sales from another channel? so until we get more clarity on how it will ACTUALLY affect the bottom line its going to be volatile. 9imo)

What I think is happening is that it at the very least this announcement buys EVE more time and therefore I can see 4-5p-5p as a near term target.

If in March CC can be more bullish (please God she is!!!!), then the stock could continue to re-rate to around 6p

So I would take my 30% and 50% profits (fingers crossed) and let the remaining 40% holding ride almost risk free.

D, with this news today, will you still look to take some profit if 5p does arrive? (its certainly not out of the question if EVE could forecast a profit this year again in the results in March., imo)

I agree, D, this is a very good shot in the arm after all the water treading that EVE has experienced over the last 12 months.

I couple of observations if I may: Small Pi's make no difference and have no influence on the company they have bought stock in. It's a nice though that as a shareholder you own a bit of the company... but you don't, not really. Not in any practical sense.

If you think telling CC that you are not happy with the TP reviews... you think that's news to her?
(I am pretty sure a change in senior management would be catastrophic for the SP right now. Any change in direction would cost al ot of money so, how does that work?)

The other observation is with small companies you normally get 2 updates a year and maybe a third pre/post xmas if its retail. But by and large you go months with no new news. That's all there is to it.

I asked you previously what specifically you wanted to do as you seem very anxious and believe that EVE is on the wrong track. I wonder why you still hold? (I don't mean that to sound as provocative as it may come across but I think EVE's options are very limited. CC and the BoD took a course of action to try and get a new sales avenue from France and it has to play out. If you think they are/were wrong or it will be unsuccessful and you have lost confidence in the company then it kind of dictates your next step?

Yanis, I think its almost 100% certain its higher costs.

High energy costs affects every part of the chain form initial factory build to transportation etc etc. We have 5-7% inflation with almost as high wage growth.

There are global parts shortages and an alternative supplier might be charging more?

All of this may also be making the entire Mattress market more competitive to try and get lower profit per unit but sell more items, hence EVE extending the trial time for instance to at least keep up with other offers that don't actually initially cost anything.

These higher costs would have been evident at the TU and what was/is likely for the foreseeable future (year end)

Anyway, that's my take on what might be going on.

This is why i don't like these BB's. How many of us topped up on following breadcrumbs that had they not been reading this BB (as an example), they would not have been aware of?

The market (through the SP) tells you most of the time what you need to know.

The SP had been going down since December ie for 2 months, with lower highs and lower lows. If the SP was going to go to 500p-1000p on the baked -in good news that was due literally any day, then why was the market not pushing the pricing up for such easy gains?

Hindsight will always tell you what happened and there is not much you can do about it looking back, but what you can do is learn from it, going forward.

I'm not suggesting everyone becomes a trader at all, but I do recommend that once the individual has done their research and committed funds that they are comfortable with and have given themselves a reasonable time frame for the company to perform, then the last thing, the very last thing anyone should do is tune into the relevant BB and listen and read the various posts.

The assumption you make is that you are being told the truth or a version of it that already co-incides with your opinion.

imo (and thats all it is), but I find it helpful to disconnect the SP from the company. If you have bought in at 6p then you can be very relaxed about how things are progressing. If you bought in at 25p, then maybe not so much, but its still the same company. The SP is the defining part of the jigsaw.

And back when the SP was 25p the CEO (who was the same as now), was very bullish and positive. But the drill failed then and that was after various studies deciding where to drill and expectancy of where the helium would be, and after all of that, he couldn't get even the correct drill bit size in place!

The kicker for me is: If they hit commercial helium then the SP goes where? 75p plus? 7-10 times where it is now. So to me, the market is saying, ok, might work but we currently value the company as having a 1-10 chance of being successful.

Doesn't meant it will or it wont work out, just that the markets sees it as along shot.

So, as long the individual recognises the 100% loss that is the most likely outcome and that is reflected in the amount the individual has bet, then all should be well. (just my opinion DYOR etc etc.)

well dai, don't be surprised if it does come eariler than you expect.

(I tend to ignore what the CEO's say, if only because, what's the alternative for them to respond to a questions such as:

"Have you enough money to to complete the program?"

(What DM actually said or ).

" no, probably not , we might get one big drill out of it or a few shallow drills but sooner or later, probably sooner,
we will need to raise more cash....."

That would go down like a cup of cold sick.... so what can he say in reality? BS mostly, like last time.

You have to ( I think on all stocks,), be pretty cynical as the default, and keep saying to yourself, "yeah, but what if there is an earlier than expected cash raise" or "what if no Helium is found, what would that do to the SP? if it did happen how would I be off financially?"

Consider the worst (reasonable) outcome, base your investment outlay accordingly, and then you can relax about the eventual outcome either good or bad. It ends up being win/win and that's a much nicer place to be than hanging on for an RNS that you are almost too scared to open and read.......

Never bet more than you can comfortably afford to lose.

Its not an easy lesson to learn in the abstract but for any who are or were, in that position with SNG, can pass it on to others. However they almost certainly won't heed the advice.

Mainly due to greed. People over commit on the expectation of a percentage increase in the stock will obviously be bigger in pound notes if the stake is bigger and it is very hard for them to reduce their holding when everything is seemingly ok (say Friday last week), even if they realise that their stake has been topped up to be too top heavy.

All you can do is take this experience forward and don't make the same mistake again.

(If you do, then consider very carefully whats going on in your head as you might have the start of a gambling problem.)

And finally these BB's will do more financial harm than good. They are echo chambers where any dissent, reasoned or not is ignored, most times abusively. The "good" research done on these BB's as exemplified by this particular board, proved misguided, so even when its done with the best of intention, does not "prove" anything" or reduce risk. Stay away from these BB's

Money management reduces risk. banking profit reduces risk, Cutting losses reduces risk.

When you buy a stock don't over commit and have a plan of when to sell either when the share appreciates or falls.

Capital protection is everything.

Its hard, very hard, to get rich quick, but relatively easy to get rich slowly.

My understanding is you pay CGT on profits above 12,300.

So say the 100k shares of helium go up to 100p (wouldn't that be nice!).
Then I would just sell £12,300 of helium shares each year until the account was exhausted. (obviously if they kept going up each year then it might take many years before I ran out of shares to sell!)

(I thought I read they had reduced tax-free div income from £2k annually to £1k?)

Pat, FWIW, having it in a non-tax shelter (Trading account)is not the end of the word currently.

You can take out £12,300 each year before you pay ang CGT

(I have set up 2 isas and 2 trading accounts including the Mrs obviously. but that's £24,600 per year tax free and if you are cute you can have a £1000 a year tax free in divs as well,

So even a small Private Pen and the govt state pen and the CGT allowance might make things reasonably comfortable at around £25k each per annum tax free before you even look at your ISA?

Not advice I hasten to add, but CGT is not to be sniffed at imo.

I have never got into the candles thing. It was becoming popular as I was hanging up by Day Trading charts.

Ultimately its another indicator expressing very near term sentiment. Difficult to read too much into it on a longer term hold like this I think? (Plus I don't like volume as an indicator generally)

Personally I am looking to extricate myself from my aim bets so I can get back to much shorter term trading on bigger stocks and just look to scalp a few % over a few days.

So on these longer projects I just look to try and time my entry and tops ups with the aid of the price action. (If I feel I am starting to get over committed in any one of them, then I look for an exit level to reduce the risk.)

Sparticus, The SP was always going to become volatile after such a rapid fall as people will buy in just because its gone down so "must" be good value, traders might jump on as well and then jump off after a good rise.

The SP moves in 1p increments which is 2% so even allowing for a wide'ish spread, then you only need a 3p move in a day to make decent money, let alone the 20% one day last week.

While these swings persist so will the amount of people buying and selling., its bit like a pendulum though, as the swings get less wide as energy dissipates, so some traders will stop trading, so the swings get smaller still, until the SP stabilises.

there is a slightly tighter range of 10.4-11.3p which it has been in since 25th Jan.

The break out upwards would put a new resistance target of 14p in play: A break down would indicate initially 9.1p as a support followed by (if it went), 7.1p

Nothing new in the interview but DM bangs the drum and keeps up the profile of the company.

Kevin, whether a share is "up or down" is entirely relevant to the price it was when bought.

So, is it just Jupiter you don't like for shorting AVCT, or is it because AVCT is involved with cancer therapy and therefore should be exempt from being shorted, or is it that you believe shorting of any company in any circumstance should be made illegal?

(PS: do you think it is the short that has caused the SP to fall from 275p to 50p over the last 10 months or so.?)
