Its understandable here, but nevertheless the positive assumptions continually made with little or no knowledge of what is actually going on at Avcata let alone every other public and private diagnostics company begger's ((at least my) belief.

I have shares in the company and I hope it will do well so the SP appreciates, but I don't know if it will. For me, the risk against the potential reward given the markets they are trying to exploit, makes it worth the gamble. Just my opinion, DYOR etc

A diversified portfolio is very sensible... why? because the individual realises that not every stock, on whatever selection basis, will be succeed to "plan". What does that tell you?

Diversification and not over committing funds are two golden rules, based entirely on the unknow outcome of the selections at the time.

You clearly know and understand this and apply those rules.

I would suggest many here don't.

hartyh, its not a question of needing help but identfying the drivers of your decision making.

Where will the SP be in 1 months time?

Where will the SP be in 1 years time?

Where will be the SP in 5 years time?

You can't know. (none of us can), you are betting that work that is going on in the background of which you have very limited knowledge, will prove fruitful and before you go all, long term/investor on me, look, as a perfect example, the outcome of AVCT's LFT. With all the info out there provided by this BB as well as the RNS's etc, it still failed.

This is not to be provocative but to understand its a crap shoot on share selection.

By all means quote Buffett, but this is not a stock he would choose to invest in.

how can they do that hayashi? What would be the criteria as to when to buy and sell and at what price?

Do have evidence that on this type of stock that algos and bots are used anyway?

Be4c, whether people here understand it or not, it is people who buy and sell shares and it is their actions that move the SP.

Stock picking is a gamble. People buy in the expectation/hope that they are smarter than the market at any given time.

And remember gambling is huge in the UK. "ordinary" folk who know little about stocks are being bombarded with adverts to have a go at it with various financial incentives.

This causes much volatility.

If you had bought this stock just 1 month ago it was 50p, 3 weeks later it was 142p: why wouldn't you sell?

I have posted numerous times that emotions are very strong decision makers in people and gambling tunes into that.

Why do casino's make money when everyone knows that the "house" has the edge? They believe they will be the exception. Its all based on emotion.

People in these situations are predictable, very predictable.

So directly to your question: "If you are selling right now, please do tell us all what rationale you are applying?"

There is no right or wrong in this.

People buy stocks to make money, you are hanging on to make (more) money), people are selling because they have already made money.

I bought my last tranche today at 122.75p (There is a support point at 122p (although its pretty congested around the late teens and mid 20's)

I thought after the quick early fall this morning, the more stronger floor of 115/116p might hove into view but in the end I decided not to wait.

Just for you Gracie, but I bought back my 7% sale this morning at 132.25p

I have not added further funds (as I want to) yet, as the retrace could get into the 120's but at best I think I might get a 126p buy. But if I miss that then I am content with my holding.

Fair chance that this is it given the tight spreads and slow fall (shows underlying buying strength to me), but we will see.

Being a news based stock for the major moves, some gamble late in the day that there will be a morning RNS to surprise the market. This often causes the SP to finish higher than at the beginning.

Then in the morning, when no RNS appears the SP is marked down/or small sell off.

But hey, its a conspiracy as ever.....

I hope EVE are spending as much time and resource getting into sustainable profit as they seem to be on giving the employee's great benefits.

Gracie, I sold a tranche, about 7% of my holding, as I was aware of the strong upward trend and therefore equally aware that there was a chance it would go up further.

When it decided not to move decisively, I bought back in at 128p, so a very small gain, I have sold the same amount at 141p yesterday.

My thinking is it will fall from there, as now not only in my world, is yet more overbought, but it is at a resistance point too, but even if I am wrong and it continues to rise, I think it will then fall back to test the 140p support, so that in any event in my view there is only a small risk I will lose out even if I end up buying back in about the same price.

I am itching to buy more stock but I am trying to get the best value I can for my money. few percent here and there over various trades makes a difference. Its a risk, but its my risk that I am happy to take.

But this is the trouble. I am relentlessly told that no one is interested in my trades. So i don't post that many of them (I typically across my portfolio am trading 2-5 times a day.)

FWIW, AVCT for all the things going against it, has for me, been a successful trading share with the majority of my trades being successful (about 4 right for every 1 wrong).

Lots of people here offer their views on what they think will happen in the future, Do you think they are trying to influence others? Do you think I have been, in your view, deramping this week? Because if you think that and the SP has risen, then it only shows that I have no influence on the SP (which I have always maintained).

All I ever said was that against the majority view early on, I thought LFT was too late/not fit for purpose. The implication I drew from that is that the SP would fall. That connection was hardly "out there". Whether or not people agreed, but as it turned out, it was the right conclusion.( I always said I was holding some stock for the cancer therapy as it held promise.)

Although I trade, this does not in-itself make it a crime. It is simply an alternative way of trying to make money. Many on here do. . Lots here, PL, ripley, ophidian & others, "admit" to trading. so I don't quite understand your reaction to buying and selling.

When I don't say what I have done at the time, but later on, I am accused of BS, but when I do I am accused of trying to influence the SP.

You buy and sell shares, so do I but you work on a longer timescales between the trades. You use company statements to make your decisions, I interpret (as best I can) buyers & sellers short term actions to come to a conclusion. Sometimes we both agree on the likely outcome. Sometimes we don't.

I don't leave sly barbs, I try to explain that this is a risky business and that TA is not a one way ticket to riches and therefore generally highlight I could be wrong so as to make sure people think for themselves and don't just blindly follow whatever I say. (If you agree that people here don't blindly follow my lead then... that kind of limits your idea that I influence anyone.)

Why a few feel compelled to be so spiteful, simply because of a different view, is beyond me. The assumption that I am deliberately trying to influence the SP from here is so ridiculous as to be absurd. MM can't do that anymore with his huge following. Even with known Shorters out there, it is not stopping the SP appreciating.

Anyway, I will continue to defend my character while it is being attacked. If you and others find these posts boring then just stop attacking me.

(And remember, as I said in a previous post. Nothing written here will affect the outcome of the trial currently taking place so what does it matter what anybody posts?)

Just for your info CO,

the then all time high of the SP on the 26/5/2020 @ 202p, the RSI was 84.26 (The sp fell from there to 101p 3 weeks later.)

The following all time high was at 274p on 15/03/21 and the RSI was 81.75p before it fell, eventually, to as we know, the recent low of 41p.

Now we have an RSI of over 80 for several trading sessions with yesterdays close at 136p and an RSI of 84.08

From a chart perspective its is a break over 140p that will actually confirm the downward trend is over.

Thats why for those that are interested 140p is a big deal. And/ if when it goes, it is likely to bring in a lot of new money.

Actually covid, my forecasting on AVCT has been ok.

I understand if you don't follow TA and have no interest in it then these posts are a bore to you.

However its not me saying the stock is OB but an well used indicator (RSI) Here is the brief definition:

"What does RSI 75 mean?
RSI value oscillates between 0 and 100 and it is called 'Limiting Oscillator'. As per Wilder, when RSI value is above 70, it is considered as overbought and when RSI below 30, it is considered as oversold. Some traders use 75/25 or even 80/20 to define overbought and oversold levels."

(I use the 80/20 parameters as they are more reliable in terms of the odds of suggesting a reverse of the SP.)

When the SP was 112p it was at 78, but for the last 4 trading session it has been around 83/84 and obviously if it stays today and closes around 140p will be higher still.

You are aware that Share prices fall and that they don't just go up everyday. Just as they don't fall in a straight line as we know from the fall from 275p with the spikes in between.

Yes, I take a shorter term view to try and capitalise on SP moves, and it generally works for me, certainly with the quite dramatic SP moves over the last 2 years has allowed me to make quite a chunk.

(I said it was a good buy at 108p in when it ran up to 275p a few months later, I said i was selling when it fell below 260p and sold down and was out bar a core holding for the cancer trial), by around 160p. I bought again at the low 100's just before it spiked to 140p and sold most of that at 135p. Most recently I have posted my buys from around 170-147p over the last fall. I sold some at 132p and bought back in at1 28p as it was obvious that the demand for the stock was limiting a retrace happening as I expected.)

Its a risky business, dipping in and out, but I find it riskier still, just to blindly hold a high risk stock and not bank profits when they are there., but each to his own.

So the SP is stubbornly staying in over bought territory and has gone on to test the significant 140p resistance.

Obviously a very bullish reaction and bodes well going forward

Whether or not there is selling at this price (and I expect there to be some) it follows (to me) that given the reluctance for many to sell around the 125-130p mark, means that as soon as some sort of retrace does occur that it will most likely be short lived as new buyers and top ups will take place for the next expected leg up

If this is taking part without the shorts being liquidated then it leaves plenty of fuel for further rises.

(My initial thought was that the shorts were selling into the over bought area of 128p + and buying into the sells that were taking place rather than wait for a fall to say 115p and then with the overbought situation resolved it might then be hard for Jupiter et al, to buy as everybody else clambered in as well, making the price spike beyond 130p, but who knows?)

Anyway whatever it is, its nice to see.

GLEN, was my pick of the miners actually. BA. seemed a no brainer as soon as war broke out. I am tempted with RR. (caught the rise and got out but maybe again a few months might be ok?

Ripley seems to have had some good luck so good for him.

AVCT might just be the big one.... but who knows as you say, the more you do this the less skill seems to be involved and more luck!

I have stuck with WOSG because to a degree I expect them to be recession proof due to their target market, but otherwise I am looking at commodities, banking, health and computer tech co's. All chuck out a div and all have come off their all time highs.

Except PL, I have lost nothing: I sold today at 132p a tranche I bought at 47p.

That trade is done. If and when I buy more, at whatever price, will be the new trade that when I sell that, at whatever price, I will record a gain or loss.

as for my other losses that you are so joyful and eager to always highlight, which is pretty mean spirited, you never say at what price I bought in or took profits on along the way. I still lost on those 3 but with my money management it was not too painful.
