Hi Wyn - I'm always comforted if I'm in a share and you suddenly pop up.

I'm not a TA guy but am starting to learn indicators and timing entry and exit based on MAs and RSI and have three very good CFD positions in Rio Tinto, HSBC & more recently Boohoo.

I can't think of anything you have ever written that I have disagreed with.

Tesla’s narrative is a lot different now they are making $1bn a quarter. The PE has moved from 1700 to a forward of around 140 by my rough and ready calcs in the last twelve months. Future success is priced in but …. what if the power business takes off …. What if the FSD software becomes a reality (huge service margins) …. Then there’s the batteries.

Grayem - I don’t buy the II manipulation conspiracy theory one bit but if true then surely that’s the result of the free market in action, and you’re ironically asking for more regulation to correct it. The very antipathy of a free market.

I think those that would have to worry about this probably have their Isas and sipps maxed out already if they know what they are doing.

Been buying back in since after Xmas with my lowest purchase around 100p so very happily in profit now with loads of miles left on the clock.

Great example of how an AIM company should operate. No CEO fluff, pointless RNS, CEO over exuberance. Just cold hard facts when there’s something to tell. Like all steady investments patience required.

I’ve had Tesla shares since April 2020 and I’ve bit by bit chopped by holding back quite dramatically because the short research is so compelling with regards to the valuation, especially in relation to other car manufacturers.

However for me they have their perfect market condition land right in their laps and I have a holding I’m comfortable with. If I didn’t consider the downside I’d be sitting on a whole lot of risk right now.

Plus on LSE most of the aim stocks are not being shorted, or at least not by large scale institutions on a large volume, despite was spouted on the boards day in day out.

Fwiw also I’m like you I’ve got stop orders at £44k (which executed earlier) £43k & £42k on Coinbase pro which will liquidate about 2/3 of my btc holding and bank my profit from this latest rise.

I’ll then look to buy back in cheaper if it takes a bigger fall and will always have something on the table.

Remember also professional traders can leverage up 20:1 on platforms like IG so there not actually committing that much capital.

To short one bitcoin at $66k would only set them back $3,300 margin.

Let’s say you opened the short at $66k you have effectively fixed the price in at that point. So today for example you would have lost $6k on your long position but gained $6k on your short neutralising it out. You’d still have a position of $66k. The key then being to time the entry out of the short to then enjoy the rise back up to $66k. You had bitcoin of $66k plus whatever made on the short. That’s obviously a perfect scenario timed to perfection. If Btc started rising rapidly you would want to close the short and take the hit.

That’s what all the fund managers are doing day in day out. Studying the new flow everyday, the companies, re-modelling and then adjusting their positions based on the expected outcome. Whether they get it right to wrong is another matter entirely.

Like I said for sophisticated investors dealing in large amounts, to us lse plebs :)

I’ve had a scan through the ONS report now and my favourite part from the summary is this:

‘Despite relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions in summer 2021, in-store retail sales remain subdued; the proportion of retail sales online rose to 28.1% in September 2021 from 27.9% in August, substantially higher than the 19.7% in February 2020 before the pandemic.’

Now Kalluless is correct in that physical clothing stores preformed strongly in September +4.3% while online dropped back slightly by just over a percent. However we are fighting against a very strong comparative at the moment.

By ABFs BOD own admission they are experiencing strong pent up demand and I bet they do well out of back to school as well, which is a massive market which doesn’t get much recognition.

Won’t matter once it has to close again next month with no online offering to speak of.

Plus financial freedom is just that, you don’t just get to keep the bits you like.

Shorting isn’t always used to bet down on a share. Sophisticated investors use it to hedge their positions.

So for example you could be long on btc but thought this week it’s getting a bit toppy, and opened up a leveraged short to protect you from today’s downside.

Professional traders do it all the time.

Kallu - why don’t you sell up and buy back in cheaper once the lockdowns and masks start rolling.

I haven’t had chance to go through any of the fine detail yet but have caught some of the CNBC coverage today which has been very positive.

Not a bear in sight. I’d be interested to see what the forward PE is now.

Haha Kallu - Have a look at the FTSE 100 chart going back to ABFs peak (2015). Not too much correlation going on there mate.

Anyone buying Boohoo today will be onto a nice earner from hereon in in my opinion. Enjoy your historic annual reports and terrible historical share price.
