Last year I spent hours researching Avacta and it made fascinating reading. Time to do it again I think, just to assess the new potential. I also hold 500k in trading but also 500k in a pension drawdown contract. I think I am right in saying that holding a block of shares for 2 years has CGT advantages of Minus 75% of the going tax rate, so this would fit in very well with Avacta's prospects. Any tax experts confirm this?

Thanks for that Mnemosyne, this confirms to me that Avacta will be a good long term hold and can only reinforce my belief that if you care to tie up some money now, while these shares are this cheap, the rewards will be huge.

I'm holding back until the price drops slightly. No point in wasting money.

I think that initially there will be a small climb, as the prospect of this inexpensive share representing a probable very successful company sinks in, but Midas has to prove itself before any major share price rise takes place. For myself, I am getting in early while the price is this low because I have done my research on Avacta over the last 12 months and am confident enough to invest heavily.

Now we wait for the results of Midas trials and also who will distribute it, because this will not be one for Isogen. Avacta may decide to sell it themselves using their existing Animal health connections but may revert to Isogen for the human version. I think that we may well see the start of a gradual rise in the sp and I am hoping for 5-6p by the end of 2011 which will mean that me and my sipp will have done very nicely.

At last! a distributor appointment and another Optim sale.

I topped up with 200k this morningand at that point the sp rose by .015p but the buy has yet to show up. Delayed or what!

Looks like the competition is causing PVCS some problems so I'm out.

No, it's ok, they've just gone down by .01p. Phew, thank goodness for that, I thought they were going up there for a minute.

Avacta went up by .005p this morning with a 1million trade, mmm, curious.

Difficult to say, unless another higher offer is rumoured. Would be nice to get £1.20.

This technology was also employed by Avacta to develop a gas cloud analysis tool for military purposes which I believe was successful, so yes, they are a clever bunch at Avacta but this does not alter the fact that it's sp is still heading south and with Tom Bulford hammering another nail in the coffin, is likely to continue in that direction. I think that AVCT is a bottom drawer jobby and I'm off to concentrate on more positive tasks

I did a lot of research into Avacta last year and decided that the technology was brilliant but the marketing wasn't. I am hoping that has changed now and that behind the scenes things are stirring. If you are right and the buys have been registered as sells, it would indicate something is brewing. In my very humble opinion, I think this will do well as long as there are no hiccups with Midas.GL.

I bought 100k of these this afternoon and it's shown as a sell, why?

I don't think that Byotrol is going bust, I just think that failure to gain the NHS business has been a bit of a setback. Also, the Company is not in profit yet, although it has tripled it's turnover and has made a smaller loss which I feel is very good news, but not bankable news. Because Byotrol is having to develope many business avenues with a diverse range of products, it will grow to be a strong company, so as far as a share price goes, if you are happy with a slow riser, now is the time to invest, but I do feel that the big contracts that make share prices soar are a little way off yet.

I got into BYOT about a year ago at 11.5p, it looked a good product with a bright future but I eventually sold at about 30p because it seemed to be going nowhere and the future looked uncertain. I felt really bad about selling because I felt that I was betraying the Company. I soon realised however, that the real reason for sharedealing was to make money and that "keeping the faith" was a mugs game. So I'm out of BYOT until it shows a steady climb and it's products start to sell and if I were you I would do the same, because hanging around developement companies hoping for the big one ties up your money when it could be working much harder elsewhere. No offence people but you are wasting your time here at the moment.
