I bought another 500k today and that's showing as a sell.

I can never tell, but I did buy 180k last week which showed as a sell.

I see this as a very long term hold, I mean 5, maybe 10 years and this is because Avacta hasn't even begun yet. It hasn't made a profit yet and still has debt but, there is a pipeline of good quality sales leads for Optim 2 and more sales means not only revenue, but more consumables. AX-1 Sensipod has proved to be what Vets require (with a few mods suggested by Vets) and going into commercialization. At a later date, a human version of the AX-1 will be on the cards. The Affinity Reagents will be the great revenue provider in 2014 onwards and of course we don't know what the PAL/Avacta partnership is working on or what other products Avacta has in the pipeline. Avacta is a seriously clever and underrated company and I believe that at 0.8p the shares are very cheap and I for one will be buying more to add to the 400k top up I made today. I shouldn't be concerned about your 1.299p being halved Andytigger, that won't be the case for long.

Dr. Alastair Smith is the CEO of Avacta PLC. I'm not being disrespectful here ninnypops, but if you are serious about investing in Avacta, you would find it most beneficial if you logged on to the Avacta website and had a good read through the information there. It doesn't matter if you don't understand the technology, at least you will have an idea of where this company is going and why investors like me are content to hold a few million shares to provide future wealth for ourselves. Failing that, click on the AVCT RNS above and read about the progress made through acquisitions and technological advances and you will then have an insight into how shrewd the management has been in laying the solid foundations on which this company is being built.

The Avacta SP has been known to stay put for months on end with no news, now the sp has been hammered since May with no news. The big question is, Why? If the MMs want to mess around with investors to make them part with their money, they usually up the price to make it look as if big news is about to break and of course the unwary buy shed loads of shares only to find that the sp slides back to its original price. So what the hell's going on here? I cannot imagine that it's bad news, but of course it could be. I would prefer it to be good news and that a sudden rise in the sp is about to take place, leaving all those that have given up and sold, out on a limb. Only time will tell. I emailed the company earlier today and have just received a very encouraging reply from Alastair Smith.

Yes, but they are very low value trades though. Nothing over £1000 as far as I can see.

I can understand any kind of doubts about AVCT and the future. Sometimes I wonder about the wisdom of holding on, but I know that the moment I sell them they'll go up, so although that's not a good reason to keep hold of them, I still have a lot of faith in the company, so for now I'm sticking.

Most people invested here know more or less what is going on because of their research, so there isn't a lot to talk about at present and we know why, but hey, good luck with your bet.

That's a very sound plan, just keep an eye on this one and good luck with your other shares, but don't be afraid to take losses if you can see a better place for your money.

I think we are just waiting to see how things pan out. There may be some news about Sensipod soon and maybe some repeat business with Optim 2. It's going to be a slow process building on the solid foundations already laid, so we we wait with not a lot to say really.

I am afraid that I tend to research a share until I am satisfied with its potential, buy in and then only check on it occasionally to make sure it is performing to expectations. The figures should look pretty good with the raising of £30mil in mid December( the year end was 31st Dec. ) but it will be the CEO's report on future prospects that will interest me the most and may have the greatest effect on the sp. I cannot claim to have any understanding of the MMs reaction to the results because I've seen great results meet with a dramatic fall in the sp and a climb on average results, so your guess is as good as mine. It will be a case of a careful watch on the spread if there is a sudden rise. There's lots of useful info if you click on the little pictures above the share price. GL.

As OCG is one of my major shareholdings I will be interested to see where the company stood at the year end and what effect the results will have on the SP on Tuesday. You also get a good idea of the company's progress and future from the various statements that accompany the results. It's also the major six monthly opportunity to sell high and buy back in low. I posted the date just in case anyone was not aware of this.

Thanks for that 4, it reinforces what I believe and probably what everybody else on this board does too. I could be wrong here, but didn't Avacta license its breath analysis technology for early detection of diabetes to EVO some time ago? Anyway, thanks very much for your input.

The only reason that I believe the SP will rise steadily is because Avacta describes itself as a Consumables and Equipment company, so if you are basing your future on consumables, you first have to sell the equipment that uses them. I don't believe that AX-1 is that expensive, so the profit from sales won't be that great and will be a one off for each machine. However, over the next year or so, with enough units in the field, consumable sales should increase and will remain in line with growing sales of each AX-1. Having said that, bb could well be right, if progress is kept under wraps until a major statement is made the SP could well rise suddenly only to retrace and I would prefer a steady climb. Getting a human version of AX-1 to market is a different and much more expensive ball game, but I wouldn't be surprised if that is already under way. As for helping to solve the antibiotics problem, I really don't know. You would have to ask someone with more that two brain cells, which is what I had at the last count.
