Optimist/BrownAdder. Yes the videos are essentially 2D 360 and exactly like how it’s described as an image pasted into a sphere but it’s not displayed like that in the headset, it will still be two images for each lense but two images for each lense does not make something 3D. The 2D reference is simply the fact the content is being filmed in monoscopic. To give depth and a 3D look to the content it all needs to be filmed in stereoscopic but filming in stereo scopic is much more complex than mono but it can be done and is being done and I wish MVR were using it. 2D 360 video is absolute bottom end 360 video content, really everything should be going stereoscopic to provide the user with the best experience which I assume MVR will in the future at some point. Based on the fact they have delayed the release of the app over the last year or so down to headset adoption you would expect they will wait until they are on all major platforms to maximise user number potential. If they don't wait until they are on more platforms it would be surprising as it would completely contradict there entire reason for release timing.

Nice little review from a rift owner. Obviously the GO never compares to your rift and PC for gaming content but for media its a blast isn't it! I have read quite a few rift owners saying they barely use it for anything other than gaming since they picked up a GO for media. I had some friends try it a few weekend back, out of the 5 of us that night, two of us already have one and the other three loved it, two are getting one and the third will probably end up with one at some point! I wasn't expecting such a positive uptake out of the 5 and myself as they have all tried my PSVR in the past but that didn't get them interested despite being just as good visually. The GO however because of portability, ease of use and price has them looking at buying straight away!

Surprised no mention here of today's RNS. Love that they are working with the BBC for educational purposes, they could find they will be obtaining plenty of business to create VR content in the future with exposure like that. The Titanic project has always looked ambitious but they also are more than capable of pulling it off based on Apollo 11, it pleases me they are delaying and taking time to get it right. Too many games and experiences these days come to market broken and then get updated after bad reviews which wouldn't be a great way for a public company to go about releasing their products.

Yeah sorry I didn't think there had been enough price predictions since launch so just wanted to fuel a few more :D

Well it certainly i'snt surprising that there is huge demand in minutes upon the release of the Mi VR Standalone headset, I just hope MVR app ends up on that platform in the future as intend to. I think Asia will embrace VR faster and in larger quantities than the West. optimist when you say platform if you mean the hardware then yes the hardware needs to be able to run files at that resolution higher than 4k but to actually display higher res than 4k it starts to get a little complex with explaining as its not as simple as a standard 2D flat image and monitor. In theory despite the Oculus GO having a screen inside that is not 4K it can still display 4K content, just like a full HD monitor at home can display 4K content.A normal monitor wont actually display in 4K though but it will super sample the image down to the displays resolution but in most instance will look better. With 360 4K the 4k imagine is stretched 360 degrees so you wont be seeing full 4K at anyone time like a normal monitor, making it look more blurry/pixelated. I know that the GO currently struggles with playback of anything higher than 4K due to the processor inside and people have tested it, I tried a 5k VR 180 video file and it tries to play it but the processor struggles. So in theory its going to be more down to the hardware powering these files and also internet bandwidth rather than the current screens used in the headsets.
