How the heck did we go from there being no rate changes in 2024 to this?
How is it that I have a 6% savings account for the next year?
I cannot believe the interest rates are going down.
Has your "enter" key broken?
It certainly is the next Tesla in that its recent rise is purely sentiment based.
If we look at "normal" share purchases since 1st October, we have:
1 Dec 2023 15:50
Dame Angela Strank
£49653.24
29 Nov 2023 14:15
Dame Angela Strank
£19999.2
That's it. One NED bought £70k shares. My take is that this rise is massively sentiment based as well, especially given its timing with CMD.
I hold RR, but only till there is big SMR news. I'm expecting a rocky road till then.
Nice article on the person who "is poised" to give Westinghouse the gig:
https://www.ft.com/content/c5c6a3f7-33ea-4973-9b40-d7088470cbb2
The ranting is not delusional as the Telegraph article shows. Here is another article:
https://www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk/companies/news/1034906/uk-s-first-small-nuclear-reactor-deal-poised-for-signing-but-not-with-rolls-royce-1034906.html
How has RR not got their foot in the door here? The phrase "poised to sign" is used a lot so hopefully RR will sort their life out and make a counter offer before anything is finalised.
I for one am never touching sh***y AIM listed companies again. Prefer to go down the bookies - much better odds!
Absolutely incredible post. Thank you so much for this.
I think the main point is that RR need the cash now to invest in other parts of the business, so that is why they would sell part of SMR. I would guess they can flog 51% for more than 49% because it gives the purchaser (if it's a single purchaser) a controlling stake. Or something like that. All my amateur opinion. DYOR
As for how much of SMR that RR owns, Go here:
https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/13039768/filing-history
Click on "Confirmation statement" and go to page 2.
530000+40000+10620+35000= 615620
530000 / 615620 = RR owns 86% of SMR
No need, it's great for greenwashing the aviation industry. Same goes for the cooking oil powered engine recently.
Ah yes, Ultrafan makes much more sense. :-)
Hydrogen is a nightmare to store (need heavy steel storage canisters) and it embrittles all metals it comes into contact with meaning they need replacing after a while. Aviation does not like embrittlement!
The sudden rise of the last few days warms the heart, but there is no news to back up the rise. We knew about the markets day for ages and nothing exciting came out of it. The key word is "news" and there was none IMO apart from optimistic targets.
Once again: I hold for SMR!
Cevo, well that's really good to hear although I think the hydrogen thing will never happen; technically and economically it makes no sense. But everything else seems very positive.
What got me going on RR is my mate at EDF (works in France) who is a boffin and gave a big thumbs up to RR's SMR design to me (nothing official!).
Looks like I was wrong. But I hold my fundamental beliefs that there was nothing particularly new at the markets day. I am holding till the SMR stuff takes off as that is why I have bought shares and see the most value.
The recent stock increases look very much sentiment based to me. I would be really surprised if the price holds up this high for long. I now think with RR the decrease will occur over a longer period. Hopefully I'm wrong again and won't be quoting myself in a few weeks about how right I was...
Cevo, I meant the share may drop below what it was before today started. i.e. we saw a positive day today, but if it was slightly negative instead, that is the price I see us being at tomorrow.
I just can't see it sticking. The whole thing seems like a mini "show pump". I am very positive long term with RR though. I am anticipating early SMR news. They are well ahead of the competition and must surely be badgering HMG to flog it to them.
Reppyrr, I don't have many shares either but you have to start somewhere!
My prediction is a retrace tomorrow, maybe even negative. The reason is there were no surprises today IMO.
I have no idea, but I would say that IMO the spread is incredibly small for this share (historically) and for that reason I would say that probably they are buying bit-by-bit. Or at least someone is buying to keep the spread tight.
Does anyone actually know what the banned parts are?
Noooooo!! Think of all the lost vinyl sales BT!!
Done a good job of accumulating shares at the same price. Bravo chaps!
To quote the article posted on these boards (ft.com?), it is almost as if anything is up for sale at Altice. Every day that the interest rates remain as they are (I won't say high because they're historically low), it becomes more likely for Drahi to flog his BT stock.
