Having read through some old bbc news stories on this subject see link below, I'm not sure whether this is more funding for the existing sites earmarked for the rollout of cycloton proton machines. They've already allocated an enormous £250m but I'm sure we'll find out next year.

Don't know too much other than it's widely known that proton therapy is far more precise and less damaging to surrounding healthy tissues but at the moment is far too expensive. This article suggests continued investment and development in other less expensive technologies so the sooner Avo bring their proton Linac to market the better. Whether it is superior and cheap enough to dominate who knows but if so would require some sort of licensing to other suppliers otherwise it will just sit side by side with other systems as they claim to only be able to produce 8 or so machines a year and I can't see a global market waiting.

The fact that Avo's system is a proton based Linac is the main point here. Recent information about flash and mini beams are added benefits. Avo just need to get this thing validated and certified asap but it looks like xray based MR Linacs are going to be a significant competitor.

Thanks for that I did wonder who produced the MR Linac machines however the article mentions the Manchester funding will not only be for their development but also to develop pioneering proton beam therapy. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out because these MR Linac devices are improving all the time so AVO's window of opportunity is reducing but all the information and research suggests proton technology is superior so time will tell!

Wonder if any of this will benefit AVO. No equipment manufacturers mentioned but someone has to be involved and the figures involved don't seem sufficient for conventional cyclotron proton therapy machines.

Well that turned it blue I guess in spite of everything if this deal with murata alone is successful the share price will be higher than 3p so anything else could be a bonus.

The article must of been proof read and approved by AVO so I would believe the machine is assembled and ready but I doubt it has been operating as if it was working at any where near 230MeV I'm sure it would be rns'd. Just hope it works as expected and news arrives soon because if it goes well this has got some significant ground to make up.

I agree but was disappointed with the interviewer thought she should of given him a good grilling about all the other opportunities now the silence embargo has ended.....hopefully this doesn't become a one trick pony reliant on this murata deal.

Below is the first paragraph from an article on the AVO website. The rest of the article is a good read with very positive statements so hopefully early next year we start to get the news flows that will really make a difference.

first linear proton beam accelerator system, which is assembled and ready for testing at
the Daresbury particle physics laboratory in Cheshire, U.K.

The offer to PI's is 25,000,000 shares at 3p to raise £750k. Unfortunately I recently purchased a load more around 4p so will probably not be taking up the offer.....wish I had waited but will continue to hold and see if they can make a success of it. If they do I'm sure everyone here will be happy.

I know how you feel open.....I bought a load more in the 4's after reading the Chairman's statement but could of got 25% more share if I'd waited. Short term timing is rarely successful but in the long term the right companies usually deliver and I believe this deal has the makings of a significant turn around that will be reflected in the share price way before any publicised results just like the share price drifting lower and lower towards the placing price way before its announcement.

The market always seems to know what's happening in the long term so I'll be holding as completely agree with PC01's message.

Exactly! Too many comments here on historic news that isn't going to change anything.
I would like to know what could be concluded but we'll find out when it's done and if really great news the share price should rise.

Why isn't anyone focussing on the first paragraph of the Chairman's statement. It's forward looking, has taken up much resource and is obviously in the hands of another party that is awaiting a decision that appears will result in a good outcome if positive.

Hopefully it will be financially more rewarding than the current licensing deals which whilst provide support for the Company's claim of being a world leading supercapacitor designer/manufacturer something like a major automotive, biometric card or 3v coin cell deal is when the share price will really reflect it's true potential.

After the recent announcement at the AGM that the STFC site may be used to treat patients the NHS must be considering this location as a replacement for its proton eye cancer treatment.

The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) said the NHS would replace it, but it may be put at another site.
