New tactics from the Autostore legal team..

It needs legal experience to fully understand the below article. Have a read over for yourselves. I have read through and from what I can make out Autostore (the petitioner) is trying to withdraw several claims against Ocado (patent owner). Ocado isn't allowing the request for technical reasons.

Seems like good news for Ocado thus far in this the most important of the Ocado v Autostore legal cases.

Too many supermarkets agreed. Private equity has almost agreed to buy Morrison's currently. A large part of the attraction is the property portfolio Morrison's owns, part of which can be sold off for housing etc or used in other ways than simply being a supermarket.

Discounters such as Aldi and Lidl I see as being focussed, streamlined and match fit for the current retail era. Many customers simply want lowest prices for good food. They are not interested in online and happy to shop themselves. It's those in the middle that I see as very vulnerable.

Ocado retail is top of class as an online supermarket. Least waste, most on time, most profitable solution for its partners, biggest product range, least substitutions. In its field it repetitively raises the bar for others to strive to achieve.

As you say the HGV crisis will be ongoing for many months. Ocado has the widest range of goods for an online grocery retailer and will have the best availability until Christmas and maybe beyond.

Add in that covid delta rates are increasing in England with rates predicted to rise faster after schools return. Covid spreads faster in the cold weather we will soon experience. Immunity among the double jabbed is waning slightly with limited booster jabs planned. Flu season could be particularly dangerous as numbers were very low last year.

So many reasons to predict Ocado retail figures will be very high for the foreseeable. Andover is now open with other CFC capacity due to come online in the coming months.

Of course covid isn't just a UK problem. Ocado's many other global partners will be looking to utilize Ocado's technology to the maximum to fulfil the huge demand. New partners should join the Ocado online platform, just a question of Ocado selecting those grocers best suited.

See article below that shows Ocado retail currently has the lowest out of stock percentage of all supermarkets. Tesco is currently 8% out of stock, Ocado around 2% out of stock for comparison.

Personally I have seen many, many complete shelves out of stock at my local Sainsburys The HGV crisis is rising but its worst effects are not with us yet. See article for more information.

Ocado's business model places them at an advantage. Suppliers deliver into Ocado's distribution centres by HGV. Goods then are sorted into customer orders and delivered by delivery van (there is no current national shortage for these drivers and they are easier to recruit than HGV drivers who require considerably more training)

Other grocers receive goods in by HGV from suppliers then the grocer redistributes those goods again by HGV lorry to all of the stores of that grocer. There is far more HGV involvement in Tesco's, Sainsburys etc operations than Ocado's. For online deliveries most supermarkets then pick up those goods from the store and redistribute via delivery van

As the out of stock notifications increase I believe more customers will switch and stay with Ocado.

Booker delivery drivers (Tesco own Booker) are looking at strike action, other grocery HGV drivers could follow suit. This could compound HGV issues.

It's hard to make out however it looks like the Autostore v Ocado ITC patent lawsuit is going Ocado's way currently. The lawsuit of Ocado challenging Autostore looks to be going Autostores way. It would be a superb result if the big ITC lawsuit emerged with a positive result for Ocado. That news I think has helped the Ocado share price recently.

Certainly I believe chilting. Whilst MKS's update was excellent and their company turnaround is clearly accelerating it doesn't account for the extent of Ocado's recent share price rise.

Your information is the missing piece in the Ocado newsflow jigsaw. Excellent news that would lead many to buy into Ocado shares.

Amazon are completely committed to taking and increasing online grocery market share across the world. They would view Ocado's technology as extremely attractive. The links between the 2 companies are growing.

In Nov 2020 Claudia Arney (then Ocado non executive director) left Ocado to become Chair of Deliveroo (Amazon has a 16% stake in Deliveroo).

Then yesterday Nadia Shouraboura joined the Ocado group board as a non executive director. She previously had been a Vice President at Amazon for 8 years. As technology vice president of Amazon’s Worldwide Operations, she managed the technology powering Amazon’s global supply chain and fulfillment. Shouraboura also served on Jeff Bezos’ senior leadership team responsible for overall direction and operations of Amazon.

The links between Ocado and Amazon are growing as board members cross over between the companies. Something to watch for in the future..

Tough period recently but Ocado is now returning to form. Morrisons/Marks &Spencers/Kroger shares motoring. Ocado group has helped fuel their rise by partnering with these companies and allowing them to offer the most profitable, efficient, least wasteful online grocery solution on the market. The market is reawakening to the value of Ocado's best in class technology and factoring in greater profits and more contracts in the months/years ahead.

My thanks to all the constructive posters on this board. The collaborative camaraderie, insights and problem solving I find very helpful to unravel and understand the very complex puzzle that is the Ocado group.

Not done yet, much more of the Ocado story to come. Let's keep chatting over issues so we can all learn more.

Ocado share price moving along nicely currently. Nasdaq also doing well. Long term borrowing rates extraordinarily low which helps all tech shares. The court case with Autostore could put a spanner in the works. I believe Ocado will emerge from the legal case with any penalties meeting the current market expectation. If Ocado comes through with limited damage then I believe there is a lot of blue sky for the shares to climb into...

I still intend to be invested in Ocado for the long term.

Ocado pioneering technology in a crucial retail battleground and its ability to branch outside of online grocery still greatly undervalued in my book. Pandemic has sped up the move to online grocery. Ocado perfectly positioned with an extensively tried, tested and profitable solution for other grocers around the world to sign up to and utilize.

I've been invested in Ocado for many years, great majority of my holding bought at £3.40 around 4 years ago. 582% return since then. Very happy with that. Unfortunately I can't invest in all the other shares I look over.

Ocado has "had it's time", "not anymore a good investment" according to you. Let's see. Currently it's motoring ahead..... again...

Good to see the board being strengthened by another quality appointment and in doing so the gender imbalance of the board reduced.

Neil has consistently said the shares are worth £12 or less. Many times saying they aren't even worth £5. He's been saying the same thing for years. Missing out on great returns.

In other news the Ocado share price momentum continues, up again..

The first point is for Ocado (and M&S given they have a 50% stake in Ocado retail) to find out from Ryde if the drivers were paid correctly.

Ryde state on their website that "We pay 20% more than our competitors. Perfectly blend your scheduled and on-demand jobs. Earn more with Ryde." Ocado would have been told this from Ryde, so why have the drivers been paid poorly?

I suspect that the drivers are paid per delivery and on a given day there were very few deliveries to be made. It's for Ocado Zoom, and the hundreds of other companies that use Ryde, to reassess if being paid per delivery is a fair way of remunerating their delivery drivers...

Many on this board were predicting £12 for Ocado shares, trying to stick the knife in during Ocado's recent share price dip.

The company though again has proved to be resilient. Momentum currently pushing this share along nicely due to a potent mix of positive factors..

Shares are moving towards £20. £20+ is a key level for Ocado shares to be at going forward. The last Ocado fundraising in mid 2020 issued extra shares at £20. The next Ocado fundraising will be around Autumn 2022 onwards. Ocado have recently stated they are very well financed until that time. It is much easier to carry out new fundraising when the previous one was profitable for those that took part.
