I would like to read it but for me it is behind a paywall as I have read other Grocer articles recently. A user can only access a few articles, from then on future articles are behind their paywall....

Always has been a huge variance in broker price targets for Ocado. Barclays still bearish. The majority of analysts currently though now see a positive outlook for Ocado, see link below

Great news. Such resilience within the Ocado team. Fires, pandemic, CFC build outs in different geographies. So many issues dealt with in a short time where they have successfully rolled out pioneering online grocery automation technology.

I completely understand. These boards are a great outlet to socialize and chat away about a share and topics related to it. There's been some great camaraderie on the board throughout the pandemic. Unfortunately some though seek to try and manipulate others via their posts. Many others have already filtered out/blocked NH already. So many incoherent statements/ points of view and an overriding urge to deride Ocado at every turn. It's been going on a very long time. Of course newer posters get caught up in the planting trees narrative allowing other posts to flow which are concocted to give NH more credibility.

Much to discuss re Ocado. There's some superb perspectives that others have. Great to have insights from the many different backgrounds of other posters.

There's no private conversations on this board. All posts are public information which others can comment on and evaluate. OWLS is wise in pointing out the latest glaring inconsistency in your ever expanding ego driven web of fantasy. Of course he receives an abusive message from you in reply. You are apparently invested in 32 equities yet only comment on 1 equity you own on LSE boards in over 2,000 posts. And of course you claim superb timing in your latest MRW, ROO trades, as you would do.

Cheers OWLS. Belief can play a major role. It is developed from a deep understanding of a company. Having seen and followed Ocado's management for many years for example I have developed an understanding of their capabilities and abilities. This has give me a belief in their management team that has enabled me to hold the share for far longer than most would.

A tough period for the share currently, there have been many similar periods previously. We all have to develop our own strategies. I continue to hold.

Neil, You repeatedly said Ocado was worth less than £5 of course you don't mention this.

So far the share is up 550% for me. I've missed some upside and also avoided a lot of downside. Long term strategy for me. Noone is a machine that calls the top of a share cycle then calls the bottom correctly. Looks like £28 was a bubble, easy to see in hindsight. If I would have sold shares after a year of holding as OWLS advises I would have had a grand total return of -30% for my Ocado shares.

There are many different successful investment strategies OWLS. Understanding of and belief in a company is crucial to my investing. Ocado has returned me around 550%+ so far on my investment through a long term 3 years+ hold. Dipping in and out would have most probably given me a lower return. Thorough research and understanding the company to a high level has allowed me to hold and prosper through some torrid periods of share price fluctuations. There are many periods over the last 3 years that Ocado was losing as you put it. The share price came through these periods to the upside.

We will only see with hindsight where the share goes from here. Personally I feel there is more upside from now over the long term for this share.

Interesting article below as to why Instacart (a £30bill market valued gig economy online grocery retailer in the US) needs to automate to further prosper. Instacart have confirmed that they are building out automated distribution centres, a big shift from the human picked model they have adopted so far. Online grocery is a huge market, room for many players. Automation is the industries hottest trend and Ocado are furthest advanced in that field.

Are you referring to the Auchun Spain + Ocado Solutions CFC deal to initially build out a CFC in Madrid? Or are you saying Auchun Spain will be supplying Ocado retail with products?

My comment OWLS referred to the post fire bounce. Many here predicted £12 after the recent fire. Actually the opposite has happened. The share has risen...

Ocado's solutions rest on 2 main themes. That online grocery is an increasingly growing trend and that warehouse automation of online grocery is the most optimal means of delivering the service.

For years on this board and elsewhere the argument about will online grocery be a growing trend has been raging. That argument though has now been settled in favour of those believing the trend would increase. The pandemic has helped this.

If you Google grocery automation or warehouse automation you will see that the pandemic has pushed this trend onwards greatly. Even Instacart, a very large gig economy US online grocery company, is turning now to automation.

For new entrants to an online grocery automated delivery service they would need to develop the tech, test it extensively in the real world and overcome many, many hurdles. Incidents such as fires will happen to those who invent new technologies. Overcoming these difficulties is very time consuming and expensive. Ocado's solutions have been extensively tested in many, many scenarios. They are far ahead and are putting every effort in remaining that way.

There are great profits in years to come for those with market leading technology.

Personally l am encouraged by the SP performance since the fire. Solid stuff. Ocado has proved its fire procedures are robust.

I agree with most of your thoughts GeordieShores. I also see Ocado's tech as extremely valuable and highly sought after by others. Amazon to takeover Ocado is a tempting thought. Amazon have made little secret that they plan to expand hugely in the online grocery market across many geographies.

Key issue though re Amazon is that the 7 or so major grocery companies that have signed up with Ocado have done so in large part as Ocado can defend them against Amazon's threat. Were Ocado to then be Amazon then those companies could have great reservations. Kroger, a major shareholder at 6% of Ocado shares may well not be pleased also. Amazon could be in a position to takeover Ocado then ramp up the fees charged to Ocado's solutions clients

Personally I think Uber could have Ocado as a target. They also want to expand in online grocery hugely. They fit well Ocado in a different way. There are many other possible interested parties who could have an interest in taking over Ocado. That said I don't see a takeover on the short term horizon. Ocado has extremely valuable assets though so someone could be tempted to make a bid. If a bid did come I think there could well be counter bids from others...
