Strong move upwards in the Ocado share price this morning. Bargain hunters moving in now the bond refinancing has been announced and near successful completion? Positive news in the Autostore court case? - I've outlined previously that broadly the legal developments I believe to be in Ocados favour.

Could be regarding the fuel crisis and customers preferring deliveries than use their own fuel? True though re the weather. Shorter days, more rain and wind - conditions that do not make a trip to the supermarket more pleasant.

Personally I have had an Ocado anytime smart pass for many years. I received an email saying Xmas slots were available. Logged on at the right time and they had all sold out. Anytime smart pass subscribers this time round are being given a free Xmas slot. Problem is though it's very hard to get any slot to use the voucher that's been given out.

I wonder how we will be told that new tranches of Xmas slots have been released? Or is it a question of just logging on and keep looking whenever possible? I'd appreciate if anyone in the know could let me know.

Clearly Xmas delivery slot demand is red hot this year. Much talk of food/turkey shortages, HGV +fuel+CO2 crisis. Consumers are looking for some assurance that they can put on a good Xmas as per normal times. Living up to that will be extremely hard for online grocers. Deliver a nut roast instead of a turkey to a customer and the company will be roasted with scorn online and in the press if it happens with enough frequency. Ocado with their least substitutions, best in class artificial intelligence have it in them though to deliver and excel again as per usual.

OWLS, Bottom line is there are many successful trading systems out there. You just play the numbers and do limited research on stocks. I go a whole lot deeper and research heavily to fully understand stocks and then stick with them through momentum changes.

Seems we both have a successful trading strategy which is great. There is no guaranteed system out there and we each expose ourself to the level of risk we are comfortable with.

The past is one thing, the future is a whole different beast. Personally I see Ocado rising from here and look forward to further gains. You would rather sit on the sidelines until it rises further. Let's see how it pans out..

Impressed by the refinancing RNS. Redeemed old notes early. New ones give Ocado secure financing further into the future. Current low interest rates taken advantage of. Funding size increased to £500m as the demand was there. Large demand indicating a belief in Ocados secure financial position by the market

Hi Modesto, yes we've covered that story in depth. Ocados initial investment in Jones food company has more than doubled in value in 2 years. Huge potential there. Less staff, water, space etc needed for that form of farming and the produce is fresher, less air miles and pesticide free. It's just the start of their ambitions..

If I had followed momentum and bought and sold Ocado shares countless times over the years there's no way I would have the profits I have today. After I first bought the share price plunged 50% for a year duration. So easy to sell up and move on but I saw something bigger in the future. The Andover fire, very confronting and a certain sell point for a momentum investor but selling was not the correct move then. Ocado publicly promised an first overseas CFC contract. It didn't then materialise, huge drop in share price. I could go on, hold was the correct move not selling. Long hold has rewarded me very well. Tough period currently but I see more upside to come..

Ocados brand value is currently around $5.6 bill according to the just released Kantar 2021 survey, further details are below:

Marks and Spencers own half of Ocado retails operations but do not have any ownership of Ocados brand. This is still wholly owned by the Ocado group.

Currently, now that the share price has subsided from its pandemic over inflated high, there is a great entry point into Ocado shares. I wouldn't encourage others to invest in Ocado for the short term. Over the years I have seen so many others sell out after a loss only then to see an even greater rise later on..

Ocado retail UK currently sell 3,085 different items of clothing...

Ocado are already involved in fashion delivery. They sell and deliver a large amount of clothes through the Ocado retail UK site, Marks & Spencer's and other brands.

The contract with Auchun Spain who are Ocados latest new partner includes grocery and non grocery. Ocado will be selling and delivering clothes for them alongside their complete offering of groceries and hardware etc.

Also on a bigger scale they have several multi billion dollar fashion clients in the USA. These partnerships will increase in depth and further customers will be obtained in the fashion field. Massive potential for Ocado in this area.

FYI here is a case study of how Kindred Systems (which is wholly owned by Ocado) is currently accelerating robotic picking for Gap Inc ($9bn mkt cap). Kindred also have a robotic picking contract with American Apparel ($4.6bill mkt cap)

There is so much happening at Ocado that most investors are unaware of..

Fair enough Halma. I've held the vast majority of my Ocado shares for 4 years with small top ups on the way. 490% return so far on my investment. It's the long term Ocado and myself are focussed on not the day to day ups and downs.

Am looking forward to more anticipated upside..

I believe we are near the bottom of the current range. You can wait for £21 but that would be missing the profit from here until £21. This share in August went from £17.8 to £20.9 within 2.5 weeks. It can do that again. The share, as it's done in the past many times, could pop significantly upwards at any moment.

Cheers for the video clip chilting. Ocado seem such a great fit for Jones Co. Robotics clearly can realistically further optimise their farming solution.

It's a huge thing for Ocado retail in the future to advertise also as it will be the freshest supermarket produce. Even fresher if Ocado build vertical farms next to their CFCs.

Also on a bigger scale Ocado have a 33% ownership of infinite acres. They operate 8 indoor farms currently with huge plans for the future.

More info on Ocados Jones food company investment, taken from latest half yearly Ocado report:

" Jones Food Company ("JFC"), the UK's leading vertical farming company, in which Ocado retains a controlling interest, has successfully raised £25m (£5m of which was provided by Ocado) to assist in the building of a second vertical farm near Bristol. The value of Ocado's original stake in JFC is now worth more than double our initial investment"

Also to correct my earlier post Ocado now own 52% of Jones food company as below (info from Ocados latest half yearly report):

"In April 2021, Jones Food Company completed an equity raise of £25.0m, as part of which Ocado Ventures (JFC) invested an additional £5.0m in ordinary shares, this reduced the shareholding held by Ocado Ventures from 72% to 52%, overall retaining control."

You can tell from current Jones company staff numbers that their farms operate with far less labour than traditional farms.

Currently Jones Food Company owns and operates the largest vertical farm in Europe (S****horpe). It has 26 tennis courts of growing space, 12km of LED lights, growing 365 days a year. As previously shown Jones has a very small payroll.

Yes, that's another great advantage of vertical farming chilting. Jones food co seem to have 15 employees according to the below link, so very low labour levels. With Ocados ownership the firm will more and more utilise robotics.

Ocado have a 70% stake in Jones food company. Above is a very interesting read. Immense scale. Huge opportunities for the ultra fresh produce. No pesticides, 95% less water used in the farming method. Less air miles..
