There are similarities to Ocado. I've held Ocado shares since £3.50. For every Ocado success story there are many wannabe tech failures though. Hope THG succeeds. The waters are too muddy for me to invest currently. Following with interest as the story unfolds...

Yes MrProfit (Neil). Most of us on this chat board have a Christmas Ocado delivery slot booked. In some areas there has been immense demand for their slots. Bodes well for the future that customers are seeking out Ocado in greater numbers....

Covid / worries about food availability etc has created far greater demand this Christmas.

16th Sep share price 595p, BlackRock have been free to sell since then but have chosen now to sell a big chunk at a heavy discount - 195p.

From the outside it doesn't bode well but following keenly as when more info emerges the reasoning could become clearer

Maybe 195p was a good sale price though. If they sold over an extended period the share price could be lower. Time will tell.

If it was SoftBank who bought the BlackRock shares then THG would have to issue an RNS wouldn't they as SoftBank are a major shareholder who would be increasing their shareholding?

Cheers. Tesco's have shown with their Gorillas partnership that in city centres they have a plan with how to utilise their spare store space. Morrisons have the same problem. Could just sell it for housing etc but if it's more valuable when used for mini rapid delivery CFCs that could be the solution.

Ocado seem to have the best product in the shop window for rapid delivery currently. Kroger are ordering the zoom CFCs. I expect a lot more orders from them soon. Has to be an attractive option for Morrisons to propel them forward in this expanding new market...

Yes, Morrisons have a lot of surplus real estate. Might they ask Ocado to fit out some of their stores with mini zoom sites in city centres to satisfy the Morrisons ultra fast delivery market utilising Ocados market leading end to end robotic solution?

Certainly a possibility chilting. New owners will have a new outlook. They may well be very ambitious for Morrisons.

If the price is right then I can see Ocado selling its half of Ocado retail next year. I think there may well be others interested in buying it from Ocado though...

I read that CD&R were happy with Morrisons tie ups with Ocado and Amazon. They said I was one of the reasons they were attracted to buy Morrisons. Question mark as to how they will develop the Morrisons-Ocado relationship..

Morrisons have recently ended store pick for online deliveries. Now they are relying solely on Ocado CFCs for online delivery.

Nov 2017 is where the Ocado hype turned into reality. First overseas CFC contract with Groupe Casino France signed then. The market finally saw that there was demand and belief in Ocados much hyped online grocery solutions.

Fast forward to today and many of the world's largest grocery chains are signed up to Ocado Solutions - Kroger (USA), Aeon (Japan), Sobeys (Canada), Groupe Auchun (Spain), Coles (Australia), Morrisons and Marks and Spencer (UK), ICA (Sweden)...

Hard to know without the facts. Maybe the reason will emerge in time but for now the share price is resuming its upwards trend that started with the recent Kroger CFC expansion announcement....

Could be chilting. Maybe a major shareholder has added to their holdings. Either way it was a dramatic turnaround even by Ocado share standards....

Anyone know what's caused the spike up just now taking the share price out of its drop?

The timing of this BlackRock sale still really sticks out though. Share has gone down so much yet they choose this moment to sell a huge amount. Could be some sort of market manipulation or could be a loss of faith in the company or that there is more news regarding the company out there about to emerge..

Yes, I'm staying on the sidelines too. Huge sell by BlackRock which they wanted to part with in a hurry. Timing of the sell very suspect. Something murky here.
