Hahaha. I bet it was!
Villagers in Stockton saying that there was no way the ‘damn steam kettle on wheels’ could carry enough coke (not coal in them days) to reach Darlington, and that this contraption would surely ne’er be the future. Ooops!
I reckon it is a biggy this though Lav. Everyone I know personally has been hanging back until the issue of range and charge times was more satisfactory. I have no doubt the predictors had built this into their forecasts for Li supply, demand and resulting price.
As BA said, a dip in 2023 into 2024 and then a rise again as demand once again begins to outstrip supply.
(Hoping for a good ‘un tomoz or Tuesday 🤞)
….And the ID2 under test also has the Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries rather than older technology. (Not the XFC version yet as still being developed)
Just been reading about the Polestar and Storedot partnership. It looks as though they will be able to overcome the issue of “charging anxiety” through the use of new silicon based anode technology in Ultra Fast Charge (XFC) Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries. Research indicates that overcoming people’s concerns about charge speed and charge retention will be a key factor in ev demand increase.
Lithium IS the future.

Oh yeah, I forgot.
Have a butchers at NanoBolt lithium tungsten battery development…
Higher power, longer cycle life etc etc.
The Basher,
Obviously I, like others, have been monitoring the EV situation over the course of this last year. I take comfort from the fact that the Li price has pretty much done exactly what BA predicted.
My take is that that there will be constant electrical source development at pace now, but what I can see is that the major developments all seem to be centred around Lithium, and not away from it. Wether it’s lithium solid state, lithium air, or whatever, it seems clear to me that Lithium will be the key component for many years to come.
Please disregard your bad what?
MAJW,
Predictions leading to this scale of investment are based on forecasts for demand well into the future. As such, the monthly variations on price are not a factor. We are only just at the beginning of the demand cycle which will only grow as the world settles into the changes that we know are coming.
MAJW
This was always predicted; even Bernie stated in interview that the early price peaks would be followed by pullback before shortfalls hit again in 2024/2025 leading to Li price increases.
In the Stockhead Albemarle report you have just posted the link to, perhaps the conclusion is most telling:….
“Still, Albemarle remains keen on expanding its production capacity, predicting deficits later in the decade as lithium carbonate equivalent demand lifts five times on 2022 levels.”
Its
2p plus is realistic before the end of 2023; never mind 2024.
Hadrian,
Way off the mark but never mind…..
Merc,
I knew you would recognise my veiled references to 38p and ‘sit on those hands’!!!
Memories eh?
Reach
Even if we teach 38p a share!!!😂😂
Just beware of any appearing on here telling everyone that they are ‘still sitting on their hands’……..🤦
Everkid,
The Welsh may have tarmacked it in a day; but then they would have slapped a 5 mph speed limit on it. Be faster to convey the goods on the back of crocodiles!
Lemming:
‘A person who follows the will of others, especially in a mass movement, and heads straight into a situation or circumstance that is dangerous, stupid, or destructive’.
Leprechauns!! 😂😂
Leprechauns!?
Do you mean Lemmings??
What have the diminutive supernatural beings of Irish folklore got to do with anything here?
I thought MS was rather upbeat about the ZZ prospects. (See todays video releases). Obviously awaiting results of the sampling once submitted, but rocks ‘chock full’ of Spodumene are interesting without a doubt.
MS states that they are still exploring along strike; sampling as they progress. Also says that there are outcrops all along the strike; these will also be sampled prior to formulation of a regimented sawn channel programme. This is all leading towards their target of having ZZ ‘drill ready’ by 2024.
Main takeaways are his obvious pleasure in what he is seeing, but clearly even more exciting about what they are NOT seeing due to moss and other vegetation or overburden keeping things hidden for now. The unseen potential as it were. 1.5 per cent Li20 are decent grades and are the mining norm.
I think things are getting slightly clearer on the drill front. Sunbeam is still a possible go this year, with Zig Zag likely in Spring. We just have to wait on North Hemlo news now to see where that fits in. (2500 to 2000m drilling already funded for NH).
Just watched the last 2 videos of Marc Sale on Sunbeam ground.
It is interesting to see that they have moved away from the old Pettigrew workings (historic shafts) near to where MS was previously interviewed. At that time, he said the intent was to replicate previous holes drilled nearby (by Nuinsco I think).
These latest two clips, however, suggest that they are still trying to assess and locate the best drilling locations at Sunbeam. It’s obvious from the listen that they want to hit with first passes. Logical when they only have 500m to 1000m to play with. (Note that funds for a remaining 2000 to 2500 metres of drilling would remain for (presumably) North Hemlo once drill permitted.)
Video 1 is from Pettigrew trend at Sunbeam. Stripping and sampling done but analysis not yet received. MS points out intense zone of deformation identifying quartz veins which ‘may carry’. The future will no doubt reveal all. MS stood in hanging wall (where gold may also be found) with the target below exposed. Plan is to step back, angle drill through hanging wall, and into the target zone.
He ends with the comment ‘and hopefully the glory hole!!’ Love that.
The second video is further along trend at Roy. This is why I reckon they are not yet convinced that the area around the old Pettigrew shafts is definitely the most favourable for the ‘first pass’.(drill). Hopefully the awaited assays will help define favoured location(s)
MS talks about the ‘intensity’ of the target at Roy, a better outcrop, and a possibly stronger system. Possibly filmed from the hanging wall but ‘the rotary truth machine will have to tell us’ says MS. Another great catchphrase.
My take is they are anxious to crack on but looks like tricky ground . Unable to conclude if it will be Roy, Pettigrew, both, or neither.
Hopefully we will get more detail in not too distant future.
Actually, don’t bother.
