As i have posted before. Look what they did to the UK diagnostic industry. They are now doing exactly the same to the UK oil and gas industry.
Maybe the GLP could jump on the bandwaggon

I'm sure current hmg is frantically working behind the scenes to do some deal with Russia going forward. They have already secured our covid testing ability with China. Next is our energy needs with Russia.Then they can work on education.Languages to start Mandarin and Russian.The sky is the limit with the current gov.,.....mmmmnt.inmv

It is was it is. The possitive is that most of capex going forward can be written off against the increase in tax. So is that a bad thing .

Some good posts on advfn . Much more positive than some of the posters on here. They seem to have a better understanding of the tax implications than some on here do

I wonder if IOC are going to have to pay 25% on their share of Rhum. If not then maybe there is a way that Serica could set up a separate company to operate Rhum listed overseas to cut the tax burden. In terms of the wt . Ten percent would have been fare, but 25% is excessive inmv. Its typical of this current cabinet. I would not be surprised if they are not already in negotiations in securing energy from overseas.

That 400 milion will be eaten up by the new tax together with eigg. Had they done deals or alternatively sought a merger then we would not be in this position now. Better still returned cash to shareholders.very sad all round inmv.maybe Jefferies could come up with something possitive.

What would also help is an rns giving details of possible tax obligations once known.

I totally agree with Newkotb. Maybe an idebted company could takeover Serica.therre must be tax angle there.As I posted before why are they simply not building stakes up in other oil and gas companies if there are no other deals. They could also bid for companies like iog,i3e etc

If we do get hit which seems more and more likely now then where does this leave us for 2022
On the assumption we average net 320 million profit after eigg
Taxation 55 percent including windfall
25 million dividends
Plus further capex etc

So on that assumption if we are lucky 100 million will be added to the cash on hand. Which bye my calculation at to days gas prices will give us 200 million in the bank at year end. That is assuming gas stays at these levels all year. So all in all not that great inmv . Which probably explains as to the continuous fall in the share price.

Serica should pull out of north eigg until they have assurances from HMG cabinet.
They should also pay a hefty interim dividend as they seem hell bent on wasting the cash pile on exploration and buy backs that will not benefit the majority of holders inmo. As i have posted numerous times why if they cannot find an acquisition they have not simply purchased stakes in other oil and gas companies.
