With interest rates set to rise the company should really look at its dividend yield unless they truly believe that they can increase the share price further during the next twelve months. I for one would be very tempted to lock in some funds into a long term savings account if savings rates rise further as its a risk free investment.

The G7 have agreed today that more investment is required for the development of gas/lng. They have also said that further deliveries should be made more easily accessible.
I am not sure where this leaves the U.K. Maybe the government feels that the new levy is their way of investing in the industry. Alternatively are we in for a pleasant surprise courtesy of HMG

I'm with you on that. There is no reason as to not increase the dividend. Why don't you email the company using your example as they could address this at the agm

I would be all for fore buybacks if it also coincided with a higher dividend yield. Seven percent or above would get my vote.

Acquisitions and investment I totally agree with,but if they suddenly return a big one off payment then what would that do the share price. Surely it would defeat the object. Personally if they did that I would be well words would fail me

Maybe they could have a nice large convertible issue to fund a mammoth acquisition. They could also buy back shares to offset any dilution on conversation

I think the key here is how long inflation stays high. Hopefully as shareholders we will see our investment advance from here before inflation takes hold.

By year end the cash on deposit should be earning interest to cover two thirds of the dividend. That is without any further increase in interest rates. Serica could quite easily yield 10 percent going forward for seven to ten years without eroding its cash pile . They then could simply return the cash to shareholders which at todays growth the cash could easily amount to £2.00 to £3.00 per share. So technically if they do nothing this is fully underpinned to provide a ten percent yield with the added bonus of returning cash to shareholders.
One question is will interest earned on deposit be subject to 65 percent tax.

That's very good advice. That's what was a contributable factor in the Wall Street crash and I'm pretty sure in subsequent large falls since. Albeit glossed over by investment banks,hedge funds etc,etc.

N0mad. Fwiw similar to you I purchased early and have been adding since. This for me is a long term hold providing they can maintain the dividend.
