You evidently do not feel the shares are over sold then. Inmv a company with no debt and assets on its books is well equipped to ride out any recession. Like it or not the UK has a huge housing shortage where inmo Persimmon is in a prime position to capitalise on this.
We also have a fickle government that will do their upmost to get re allected and as from what i can see most house owners like to see growth. You only have to see the number of property related programmes on the t.v to see that.
The rise in interest rates can only reach a certain level as this will have a more negative effect . Which inmv will reverse as quickly as they rise if the markets fall too much, but the question is what is to much??

The Motley Fool has given a positive write up today. Hopefully this will attract some buyers

The awful events in Ukraine will also have a knock on effect. So far the U.K has taken in eighty thousand refugees. Many will not return to their home land unless it becomes safe. Extra housing will inevitably be required in some form going forward. So this alone should underpin further growth in the sector inmv.

Just to add hmg will maybe use stamp duty as a tool once again.

It could be worse Newkotb I bought into Persimmon just before all the negativity came in re house prices.

Maybe the possibility of a dividend cut is adding to the fall on top of inflation and weaknesses in the market. One thing which did come across in a negative way was the announcement of the last dividend. It sounded like there would be no further dividend for the rest of the year. I'm assuming that they meant for the previous financial year. So should we still get a dividend announcement late this year. If not then this could also be adding to the negativity surrounding this at present.

I am a fairly new investor here, but one thing that has become apparent is that the shares are falling on average more than the other housebuilders over the past couple of months . I am little surprised as there is no debt and they seem more rated than other house builders. Maybe i have missed something so would be interested in peoples views as to why this is not following the sector as a whole.

fwiw my thoughts are the same Newkotb, but more weighted to a bid coming in for the company. If it does it will be interesting at what level. Just feels like RRe and faroe all over again inmv

Its also interesting as to what has transpired today. As i am sure you are aware the share rebounded back to 3.20 and now has fallen back to the low of the day. Maybe this is the new range pending an offer for the company???

The crux for me was HMG let down of the diagnostic industry. The sad fact is none of the current cabinet have any integrity and for them it must be vary sad that that they seem to detest each other as well. It really does',t bode well does it inmho.

The diagnostic industry was always the pauper when it came to the scientific industry. Covid was its chance and Bj said on his platform they were going to rise. Well they certaintly did inmho and got burnt by the very man in the process . Let alone hundreds of jobs lost together with funds being held back by hmg .
Hmg now turns to the o and g industry. Hmmmm. I think this time they have just cost themselves dearly. INMV the whole cabinet should go and be replaced . If not a new party should take over onmho and no ones elses dyor etc

Synergies.. They still could compliment each other inmv . After all they are both diagnostic companies . Maybe scientific stubbornness is still hindering events.

Being a holder of Omega and more recently a Abingdon holder i would be interested in peoples views as to a possible merger between the two. I did raise this a number of times on the Odx bb , but it fell on muted ears.
This inmv must surely be the right time now to do this and consolidate.

Just to add.An interim dividend and why isn't that part of the agenda at the forthcoming Agm. It seems way to top heavy with non ex directors being re. elected and may i ask for what purpose ????

As many followers of Serica are aware a possible share buy back program could be instigated for ten per cent of current shares listed. Depending on the Agm result.
A number of posters have highlighted this is not in every ones interests . I am inclined to agree. Inmv why try to do it now. B.P have gone and for all we know Axa as well. This inmo should have been instigated before they offloaded their holdings as i am in no doubt Serica /house broker would have had some inclination about this. Hence the bringing up of the buy back program.
My point is it is too late, a bit like closing the barn door when the horse has bolted.
Personally i would like an interim dividend instead.
