Yeah, just eat was a funny one today. Their EBIDTA margins will be lower due to increased expenditure to capture more market share which will obviously affect bottom line, but that's it.

I guess it's just the mentality of the london markets. LSE investors are much more accustomed to value and dividend stocks and are not as accustomed or simply dont understand companies with high p/e and low/no/negative profitability like our couisns across the pond do. Any mention of lower profits and we usually run for the hills despite huge growth. You cant blame just eat wanting to move to NYSE where companies such as doordash can command such crazy valuations for the same level of earnings.

The same can be said for BOO. Last update mentioned increased investment and the SP tanked (also due to you know what). US is one of our biggest growth regions, so would make sense for a listing there. LSE investors need to start changing attitudes towards high growth stocks instead of punishing them for making heavy investments.

Let the numbers speak for themselves tomorrow. Anyone with a view longer than the end of their noses can see where this will be in a few months time.

Very interesting reading. Confirms what I expected regarding return rates remaining at historic lows for asos. This will also be seen at boohoo despite the last boohoo report stating return rates would undergo mean reversion in H2. That has not happened so can expect covid lockdown to continue having a positive effect on earnings here.

Goldmanboy makes a lot of good points re debt and being a real estate play which I agree with. The debt is not so much the problem here despite the hideous looking debt ratios because they most likely have liens in place.

The issue is how much of these freeholds they can maintain, how much dilution is necessary to prevent BH liquidating liens, how much longer will pubs will have their trade restricted and when will the full extent of the economic devastation be laid bare in terms of real estate prices when the government stop propping up the economy.

They have already made disposals in many london zone 1 bars and pubs which means that revenues will never be the same as they were pre covid. An equity raise is definitely the right thing to do, but in suspect the BH will take this opportunity to strengthen their position and lower their risk.

In fact i will go one further and am willing to bet we will see the biggest "buy on speculation sell on news" event the markets have ever witnessed. i.e. if the vaccine works perfectly, world governments will look to tighten the incredibly loose monetary policies virtually overnight. Only then will the full extent of the economic damage caused by covid will be laid bare for all to see and will be drummed into us by the media and no doubt will cause a mass exodus. Either way, the markets are very overheated now and today's reaction to a company who has lost 70% of revenue and 10 weeks runway left until default proves this point.

Put it this way; the markets are currently having a lot of fun in the bedroom whilst there is a paper bag over the face. Once the paper bag is removed, we will all be in for the fright of our lives.

Was always going to be a tough nut to crack as we are right at the top of the resistance channel. A bit of consolidation here would be good for the bulls to regroup and punch through 370.

A much anticipated trading update is next week. I suspect a break of break of 370 in anticipation of news, which will surely then test last high of 400 before the trading update (exactly the same as before). But, will see a push to all time highs or the typical sell on news event like before? That is the question on everybody's mind.

However as everyone is aware, much has changed since the last results. We had the factory scandal hanging over us which muted reactions despite blockbuster results, and expectation of headwinds in terms of increased capex plus return rates drifting back to historic levels. The factory scandal has been well and truly priced in, increase in capex is known and because of lockdowns, return rates will remain rock bottom for longer. All reasons why BOO could take off this time on the day of the release.

Judging by what happened to boohoo when the vaccine was announced and other reactions related to covid easing up, i would have thought boohoo would have ended the day up a couple of percent today knowing that we are going back to full lockdown.

Boohoo has been proven to thrive in lockdowns. I strongly suspect this is very temporary and will whip up in the coming weeks as people flow out of covid recovery stocks such as hospitality and airlines, and re enter covid stocks.

Lloyd's are at the mercy of lockdowns now. Sure, the vaccine is around the corner but not before covid has its last hurrah and causes another nationwide lockdown wreaking havoc on SME's causing more loan defaults, higher unemployment and threatens house prices.

A place where those with a huge financial interest and would lose their shirts off their back if the company fails can gather and discuss how brilliant the company they invested in is without anyone bringing you back to earth. What could possibly go wrong?

Not biased at all porky. I'm guessing only forum members who ramp the bejesus out of NCYT would be allowed in your exclusive circle and anyone who could provide 60 pages of reasons not to invest would be excluded? And you think people will be willing to pay the privilege for that?

This board offers investors a choice to decide for themselves whether someones opinions are worthless or not. If you think they are worthless, you can just filter. Shielding investors from alternative opinions is a terrible idea.

Agree with Bruce and keepcalm. My favorite holding period is forever and have a PF i only add to on dips like Unilever, azn ect. But i do like to have a dabble now and then among some volatility to keep me on my toes. I would also advise against reading too much "how to trade" books. I only ever use books for definitions, not advice. Its akin to someone telling you how to move the pieces in a game of chess. Sure, you can play the game now someone told you how to move the pieces....but you wont be winning any games. That comes with experience and strategy.

Day trading is a mugs game. Very very few are actually successful and make a decent living out of it; i have never met a good one anyway. Swing trading (2-12 week holding period) i have had much more success. I have found that i am an excellent buyer, frequently catching the bottom but a total naff seller and rarely catching a peak. With trading, its all about finding your style, what works, what don't, what should be avoided and what you are comfortable with. It will take a bit of trial and error to find your personal style.

How this is defying gravity I do not know. It's going to be another 6 months of car crash revenues, divestments, losses ect.

Must be bonkers to dabble in MAB at this price, even if the vaccine is perfect this is still too much for the permanent damage caused.

Stocks like this are literally standing on the trapdoor with the hangman (covid) itching to pull that lever. The vaccine is the trapdoor holding up everything and boy is it creaking. MAB need to pray this vaccine works, as do all hospitality companies.

We are right on the old support which is now resistance. A break and hold above 340 tomorrow should see us move to 360s fast.

The more you look into the alexion deal, the more it makes sense. I think pascal had played a blinder and has the track record of being able to deliver. I am suspecting the usual hedge fund trick of shorting here and going long on alexion for the arbitrage is at play here.

£100 by this time next year which is a near 40% upside will do me very nicely, plus the increase in dividends.

6500 Pakistani rupees is about £30, or £1 per day. 27p per hour for an 8 hour shift per day is not exactly unheard of in Pakistan. In fact it is very much the norm and actually better than what the Pakistani tribune suggests for female workers!
