@Trisor - agreed - that 14:15 trade looks like a buy

The 16:28:59 purchase was mine for another 1487 shares - the UT trade at 16:35 isn't a real purchase / sell - it's an "uncrossing trade" - Google it for a full definition - there is one every day at 16:35ish

Good day for the "faithful" to top up - shame a fall in price has attacked the attention of the resident "traitors" though.

I added a few more and am now sat at 1.675 million (old money) which is probably about the same holding as Pablo! 😄

@stt1 - I felt myself twitch when I saw Marshal Wace increase their short as they have the ability to move markets downwards when they short (and are usually very good at it!)

I'm keeping a close eye here as if Marshal Wace are at the shorting party we should all be worried!

@Marcus - as @aim can't bring herself to answer - here is what I think re: short term movement of SP and why I think that ...

It looks we are range bound between £3.90ish and £4.00 and in the absence of news I can't see us breaking out of this range in the immediate short term

Being range bound is frustrating as I had high hopes of £4.20 imminently and £4.50 by month end but that's looking overly optimistic now.

However - barring any Trump led crashes in the world economy - I would expect upward pressure to build here ahead of results and it would be really disappointing if we are still stuck in this range come early March.

Historically this has crept upwards as results approach and then it's either soared or crashed on results day!

It would nice to have an RNS or two though which should then drive us higher ....

That's my thoughts .... What do you think!

@capitalizer - maybe the sniping over the Civil Service Pension caused the temporary fallback from nervous Nellies or possibly the cancellation of nationwide ID cards (where it was felt Capita might win that contract) ....

OR ... It could simply be a back test of support before taking the next leg up ....

I think the dividend is bound to be trimmed this year - whatever happens to the SP - as we are simply paying out too much cash ....

Having said that - at these prices - you'd still expect to be getting 7% or even more AFTER a cut

Logic tells me to hold half and sell half. How confident do others feel going into the update tomorrow?

@aspers - I am a believer here too and expect good things for 2026. My other top picks are Diageo and also, maybe surprisingly, Capita.

Capita has a newish board of directors who are turning the company into a dynamic AI led outsourcer and have been fixing the business for the last 2 years and turn around is almost complete.

I bought back into GRG today at £16.08 and I intend to top up here frequently

Looks like support at around £3.77 held - so onwards and upwards again now!

I'm still here @aim - just added a few more at £3.86 - would obviously like to see a bounce from here but too good to miss at these prices on what we now know ....

@Trisor - I agree that the £4 transactions are almost certainly buys but given they are only 2 seconds apart it's possible that only transaction was executed and the other is a duplicate.

The £3.97 transaction is almost certainly a sell as the buy price was around £3.99 at that time of the morning and I can't see a buy being agreed below the ask.

Could do with some news or some volume or some analyst updates to get this moving again I think!

From what I can see, hear and read - the last provider left the Civil Service Pension scheme in a complete mess and Capita have been working flat out to fix the many many many issues that they inherited.

It's pretty easy to sit on the sidelines and throw potshots but the truth is that MIGRATION between providers is never going to be smooth ...

The best outcome is "business as usual" - which was rubbish under the old provider anyway ..... any other outcome is just people with various agenda sniping from the sidelines.

I think we need to judge Capita after they've been running the pension for 6 months and not just 6 weeks - especially when those 6 weeks includes Xmas and New Year!

@wiscos - it's difficult to swim against the tide. I absolutely believe in Greggs but my few shares will make no difference to the overall direction of the share price.

Short term this is looking to be going down and medium / long term it looks a success story ...

If I am right then it's better to take the small loss now and then buy back in, hopefully lower, once the shorters have had their fun.

Shorters have got serious money behind them and they absolutely can move the share price in either direction - unfortunately is small PIs can't! That's why I'm out for now

@Athens - your assessment of the issues over at Ocado are partially correct but for Kroger to exit their Ocado agreement they paid a 350 million US dollar penalty (from memory) which equated to about 7 x the annual revenue lost to Ocado for the closures.

Hardly an insignificant payment - but the share price halved!

Peek Greggs is a view held by the shorters together with less footfall due to depressed High Street and lower sales due to fat jabs / more health conscious customers.

At the end of the day - whatever the reason - if you are in the shorters cross hairs then you are in trouble - and if Marshall Wace join the party then you are REALLY in trouble.

@oldman - I'm definitely an investor and not a trader but the huge number of shorts is making this almost investible at the moment as it's the shorters controling the price action and not the investors.

I saw the same over at Ocado recently where the shorters drove the SP down from £3.20 to £1.60 on pretty much zero news and trying to swim against that downward pressure would have been costly.

Once the shorters let go (at Ocado) it quickly moved back up towards £3 but with the shorters in firm control I'm almost certain we will see £15.xx or even £14.xx again BEFORE we see £18.xx or £19.xx

So I decided I might as well sell up for the time being and watch from the sidelines

@Marcus - tbh - I'd be happy with any dividend in the short term but I think we need to eye 50p in the medium term (as that would support a £10 - £12.50 SP) ahead of a buyout.

@Capitalizer - I think we broadly agree that JL did a great job cleaning up the balance sheet and, as you say, AI makes all those little technology companies almost obsolete anyway - although I know @TerryM would strongly disagree with us after losing a lot of money in the JL rights issue.

To be honest - it doesn't bother me if Capita doesn't get bought out (although I think it will) as a dividend payment would be just as good an outcome for me with over 100k shares (new money).

If they could turn £300m profit and pay a 50p dividend (costing roughly £60m) then that would yield me a £50,000 annual income - tax free as pretty much my entire holding is in an ISA.

Being bought does help me in that it takes the decision of whether I should ever sell any of my CPI shares away from me as I become a forced seller at takeover.

I think GRG are a good business but you can't swim against the tide for too long before you drown!

@Trisor - I agree that £15 is overly optimistic and somewhere around the £10 level is more realistic.

@aim - £3 again - absolutely no way - I still think this is nicely consolidating around £4 ahead of the next move upwards and today's drop was again orchestrated to take out the stop losses.

I think we must be running out of £4 sellers soon (having been in this region for over a month) and I think the volume picking up towards the end of last week was positive to.

I still am looking for £4.20 this week and £4.50 by the end of the month .... If you care to join us 😜
