Been some decent volume since the raise. Just wondering if we will be off back to recent highs as all the sp swaps and hedging filters though and buying dominates again. Dilution was minimal and I don’t see that we are linked to poo unless it moves dramatically. Trek, watching not waiting.

For balance I have been here for nearly 4 years now and am showing red on a sizeable holding. It’s not nice when one thinks one has done ones research and supported the company for so long and yet my money would have been better off in a building society given the risk taken. I know the Opti story as well as anyone but just didn’t find it a 8p. I am a big fan of SOH but I do think now they could let the market have regular trading updates to clothe the income skeleton. Yep £275k in two tranches, nice. Imagine if you were trading that, a 15% spike and that’s it for the year! Then you spend a year finding another one with ‘favourable odds’ but I suspect it’s VA or ABC broker buying. Well soon find out. Results first. Trek with no Boomtown Rats!

Buy and hold is about right. This is a punt not a traditional investment of sorts. For balance one can pick up on Potters words against the favourable market conditions which do not instil urgency for Trek, but likewise neither does it signal desperation, rather a more measured patience required, hence buy and hold. “look forward to reporting on further developments to you over the course of the coming year." So not in a couple of months or weeks but less time bound. Trek

Marge......BUYOUT GROUP, INVESTMENT BANKER

Ms. Margarita Krivitski is a Vice President at ValueAct Capital Management LP.

She is on the Board of Directors at Horizon Discovery Group Plc.

Prior to joining ValueAct Capital in September 2015, Ms. Krivitski worked at TPG Capital in the North American Buyout Group. Prior to TPG Capital, Ms. Krivitski worked at Goldman Sachs in the Investment Banking Division.

She received a B.A. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University.

VA have increased, Woodford and Invesco have reduced. SP has stayed in an albeit wide trading range but has ticked up of late as those Invesco sells has shifted. I wonder if VA have picked up more. Remember Margarita Krivitski joined the board as Non-Executive Director and works for VA. This is her statement. “I look forward to working closely with the Board and management team as they execute their strategic plan and drive long term value creation for all stakeholders." I am of the opinion that VA want to really capitalise on their investment in HZD, that means massive turnaround in performance or else they have the fire power to support any bid. I think it’s going to be an interesting day Monday. Just wonder how good Marge is at her NED role. Trek, usual caveats apply.

Transitioning to profitability

Horizon Discovery (LSE: HZD) is listed on London’s junior AIM market. At a share price of 173p, its market capitalisation is £260m.

It’s a global leader in the design, manufacture and application of gene editing and gene modulation technologies. Its products and services are used by researchers and drug developers, and it counts major pharmaceutical companies, including AstraZeneca, among its customers.

Horizon has been building scale and is currently loss-making. However, it’s appointed a commercially savvy chief executive to lead its transition to profitable growth. Annual results are due next Monday, and company guidance is for revenue of £58.7m, gross margin in excess of 67% (versus 62% in 2017), and year-end cash of not less than £25m.

There’ll still be a bottom-line loss at this stage, but I view a valuation of 4.4 times sales as attractive for a cashed-up company with strong growth prospects. Horizon’s management turned down a 181p a share takeover approach from Abcam last year, saying it “fundamentally undervalues” the business. I see the stock as a credible speculative buy.

It’s a sell, low point of the day. This imo is going below placing price now. I won’t be bothering anyone here now. Kept my nose in just in case things looked like turning around. Added to ECO and HZD with the bits that were left. GLA. Trek

Just added another 841 shares here so have built up a decent (for me) position now. Remember last raise at 2.05 and recent director buys together with upbeat guidance. I think HZD have turned a corner and revenues will be a beat. Trek, self conviction.

Big stake, define big, for some it may be £1k for others £100k.

Shows confidence, what are the alternatives, what if their take up was pitched too low or they didn’t invest...what would be the impact on the sp and gravy train then?

Top up at .11 a good solid investment. May be in time who knows. what we do know now is the spread is anything up to 50% so if you intend to buy and sell you need the sp to virtually double just to stay still. I know the spread will change in time but it’s another massive dilutive factor here and will come back to haunt investors when they want out.

Good investment? I can’t see a revenue on the horizon here, anything remotely getting close to covering opex and offering investors a return even if bitcoin quadruples. It’s all my opinion but that’s what makes a market. If you think BTC or XRP is the way buy crypto, if you like ARB buy ARB but don’t give these guys anymore air miles. Trek, all imo, DYOR, save your money pi’s.

Ouch, but it was always going to happen. Imo this Investment model only works if the shares invested in offer the opportunity to take substantial profits along the way. The operating cost are still too high and there is no revenue hence the cycle of dilution. See my post 3rd April. Argo may be undervalued but even if they do rerate vela only gains if it gets cash back. These stocks always trade at a significant discount. Sure they do give investors an opportunity to access potentially fast growing high risk new enterprises where experts have done the DD but it is v high risk. Would even help if they put 50% of the raise into LGEN/AV or similar divi paying stocks coz at least then they could cover the admin costs. In advance of its Annual General Meeting today, Biome Technologies, a leading bioplastics and radio frequency technology business, is pleased to announce a trading update for the three months ended 31 March 2019.

Group revenues achieved for the first three months of the year were £2.1m, which is 11% ahead of the previous quarter (Q4 2018: £1.9m) and in line with those achieved in Q1 2018 (Q1 2018: £2.1m).

The Group made a small profit before interest, tax, depreciation, amortisation and share option charges in this quarter (based on unaudited management accounts).

The Group's cash position as at 31 March 2019 was £2.1m (31 December 2018: £2.6m), reflecting working capital movements.

Bioplastics Division
Revenues in the Bioplastics division for the first quarter rose significantly to £0.6m (Q1 2018: £0.4m; Q4 2018: £0.4m).

The improved performance was helped by both increased sales of outer packaging for the US single serve coffee market and by initial sales for a novel material for a single serve pod being launched into the nutrition market, previously reported as being under development. It is anticipated that sales for this latter application will gradually increase through the remainder of this year.

Progress on other projects, such as the rigid ring material and a plastic film based product for the North America market, remain on track with revenues for the rigid ring continuing to be anticipated to commence in Q2 2019 following completion of final testing.

Stanelco RF Technologies Division
Revenues for the first quarter of 2019 in the Stanelco RF division were £1.5m (Q1 2018: £1.7m; Q4 2018: £1.5m). The quarter was impacted positively by the delivery of multiple fibre optic furnaces which will not occur to the same extent in Q2.

In light of the current order book and general market outlook, the Board believes that revenues from this division for 2019 will be in line with previous guidance but more likely to be closer to those of 2017 than 2018, which was an exceptional year.

Outlook
2019 has commenced in an encouraging manner, particularly for the Bioplastics Division, and in line with the expectations set out in the Company's preliminary results announcement.

Well I didn’t expect that. A note of encouragement ahead of the agm. Obviously the BoD cognisant of the sp decline which looks over done. Bioplastics doing well and a demand horizon. I do think we may be surprised end of year with RF as we may get a lift from 5G. Surprised no chairman’s statement but I guess thats because the update was just that. Going to hot up, that 2m sell has to be a buy as does the earlier 500k sell. Just look at the prices either side at same time. Matters not though as its volume and that’s the indicator we want. Trek.

Not sure 80 will make much difference to oil in ground valuation. Views are it could be a short term spike. Cos like TLW will do well as they are relatively heavily leveraged and producing but not so sure we will see a benefit here as we have different sp drivers. Hur getting a lift as close to producing. Talking of which I don’t understand why the HUR bb is so busy and yet we are so quiet and yet the upside here is potentially much much more. Still having read the Hur bb I am kinda glad it is quiet but it does make one check ones research pulse ever now and again in case I’ve missed something, but every time I do ECO just looks better.
