Evi,
“ Nomlungu agee I will soon retire and goodbye to tax”
That’s what I thought until last year’s ‘fiscal drag’ dragged me in to paying tax!
So pensioners now pay tax. 22% on the couple of hundred quid that they go over the 12.5k threshold!
That’s a huge percentage of their overall income!
But meanwhile folk on a mere £100k a year get child benefit!
wtf is going on!
We had kids when we could afford it; just, and were blessed as we also appreciated that that is not possible for all!
But the point is I got two jobs and my wife worked and we got on with it! We had a mortgage and the rate went up 3 x in a blink to 16%!
Everyone thinks now is expensive, you are having a laugh! Two of my family lost their properties!
Now we have a whole generation from train drivers to teens to immigrants that think everything is the states responsibility to provide!
An earlier post by HH88 (06:00 ish) tickled me… re: who have benefitted from Labour so far, ‘Hamas, militant unions and criminals’ lol!
And don’t get me wrong, they inherited a mess. But the solution isn’t another fk up!
NHS nurses deserve a +10% pay rise as 10% of fk all is still fk all! But do train drivers (like my niece on 65k a year at 22) need another 10-15k a year!
As I expected we go from one sht show to another even within the rules. From heating a second home (Reeves) to volunteering to pay tax (sunak) on non dom income!
You see the underlying human condition is not about doing what is right but serving one’s own agenda! That pretty much sums up politicians bar a very few excerptions!
It saddens me as the solutions are not complicated. The majority of us have common sense. Just let common sense prevail and not personal agendas!
A simple tax staircase. More you earn more you pay.
A sovereign wealth fund like Norway that invests in uk companies and collects uk dividends that benefit the uk economy, schools, nhs etc instead of looking at it as a curse! I mean you could actually encourage growth and increase returns!
We need to pay more tax on a graduated basis but not so much as to disincentivise residency!
A determination to modernise our infrastructure. I mean the billions we found for covid. That could have seriously modernised our roads. Roads and rail are a joke atm!
I just came back from Hungary: driverless trains, all run on time, free 5G on underground, spotless railway stations. Guards policing stations that don’t take sht!
Then in uk I booked a seat and some abusive family refused to move so the guard told me to stand in the aisle with a stick! wtf!
A well paid guard, just moved my wife and I rather than do what’s right coz he was told to fk off!
Sums it up really!
