Does anyone know why the SP bounced back this afternoon? It's gradually been tracking down, so nice to see it jump up again.

Thank you both for the links, that EMEC one was particularly interesting, it was nice to have an invite to the Uskmouth site, but I would do my utmost to attend a turbine service at Meygen, although will probably never happen for us PIs due to cost/insurance/H&S etc...

I got it as a secure message from my investment platform;

'Further to our previous communication, we have received an update regarding the Bushveld Minerals Limited liquidation event.

The liquidators have confirmed there will be no distributions to shareholders as part of the liquidation therefore, the shares no longer hold any value.

As a result, your shares in Bushveld Minerals Limited have now been declared as worthless and will be removed from your account in due course.'

It wasn't my intention to be so pessimistic, I like how Mr. T framed it as a realistic worst case scenario, I am excited about the future of the company and am resolute to hold, I do feel that we are flying under the radar of both investors and politicians and that is what is holding the SP back.

Now that they have been declared worthless today, you should be able to get an annual statement from your broker at the end of the tax year in April.

Apart from the modest Meygen income and the money from that first BESS project (Qinbrook?), there isn't a lot of cash flowing into the coffers.... yet.

Yes it's great having planning permissions and financial close on Usk1, but I don't think we'll see a big rise until the first proper AMP BESS project starts generating revenue, hope to be proven wrong though on some good news.

Let's hope so, I find with AIM, that stocks are either significantly undervalued (as we are here), due to being under the radar/not the 'in' thing currently or they are ridiculously overvalued because they are the current flavour of the week and the fervour surrounding them pushes them higher and higher until they fall off a cliff.

Yep, without BESS, would the company have lasted this long? Probably not.

From a purely ideological standpoint Tidal Stream is an absolute no brainer, no fuel costs, highly predictable (which many renewables are sadly not), no emissions, no significant environmental impacts. I think that even the NIMBYs in the MeyBESS action group on FB, that like to demonise every technological innovation aimed at mitigating climate change whilst keeping the lights on would struggle to find fault.

But at it's nascent stage, it is still deemed to be a risky investment and needs the government support through progressive policy and we've had the bare minimum or less. For me there are a lot of similarities with offshore wind in it's early days, it was thought to be too expensive to ever be truly viable and competitive, but it did get support from the government and look at it now, and tidal has an added advantage in the predictability.

My guess is general market sentiment falling due to Trump and Greenland, most people want out whilst they have some profit or haven't lost too much.

We knew that it was going to happen, but still a relief that it's locked in now.

I agree with Strangy and Lesser, with the orange man's antics around Greenland, the general market seems a bit cautious today, if it was more positive in general then we might be seeing the usual deluge of traders piling in, ramping, etc... then all exiting a day or two later and it settling down again.

As I've said before, I really hope that this acts as a catalyst for the Tidal to progress and expand.

With all of this extra offshore wind capacity we're going to need more BESS, where is that MeyBESS decision?

Correct Nonnymass, this used to be the case for Offshore Wind.

For comparison renewables received an estimated £2.4 billion in 2024, mostly for offshore wind (paying to turn them off because there isn't enough storage *WINK*) and biomass (whose sustainability is at best questionable anyway - I'm an ex-DRAX holder, sold out at a nice profit and rolled into AMP when I realised the level of greenwashing).

So even though I understand that it is not a simple situation politically, economically etc... I do feel exasperated that more money and resources are not being directed to this clean, predicatable, reliable, UK based energy source with UK based supply chain that has a potential capacity to supply ~20GW.

I can't remember the source, but I think it's supposed to be before the year is out.

'15 million is an absolute joke when energy investments need to be in the billions.' - Absolutely, compounded by the estimated £17.5 billion annual subsidies the UK government pays towards FFs. We must keep the lights on and we're in a transition period, but it feels massively disproportionate especially as Meygen has a multiple year proven track record.

I suppose it's just sloppy journalism, where they have failed to make a sufficient distinction between range and stream. - I agree Pask.

I wonder whether, when either the planning or financial close for MeyBESS comes, that it may act as a catalyst that speeds up development of Meygen Phase 2? By virtue of proximity geographically and that it is the same company in control of both assets.

Indeed, I wonder whether the catalyst is an imminent Mey BESS decision?
