You are correct Mr. T about the alignment of the Moon (greater) and the Sun (lesser) affecting the tides and giving some variation.

In regard to Meygen, can SAE use any tidal stream technology for future deployment? Obviously the current turbines have bases on the seabed, but is there anything stopping them using HydroWing or Orbital? Obviously there is the link with Proteus and a stake in it, but does that make them beholden?

Yes Mehmet, I was concerned when I saw that Orbital were not included as I really like their design and think that it has great potential, hopefully they some good news in AR7.

It is very disappointingly low, not just for SAE, but for all Tidal projects, but as TL says, it is better than nothing.

As you said recently Strangy, the main driver of growth for the company in the short to medium term is BESS and given all of the intermittent Solar and Wind projects coming on-stream that plays into SAE's plans very well. I get my electricity from Octopus and recently they have been paying me to use electricity when there is an excess on the grid from renewables. We need more BESS so that this absurd situation doesn't happen.

As another Tidal Lover, I think that the tech is a great 'baseline' source of energy for the grid and should be developed further. I am not a fan of nuclear which has been touted as the low carbon baseline energy source. Due to high cost (at both ends), massive lead times and the obvious problem of no proper solution for dealing with waste after 70+ years of the technology being in use. Oh yes and despite all of the safety protocols etc.. when things go wrong, they have catastrophic consequences.

As Rio says it's subjective, I am a country boy and I don't mind them, when I see them I think well thats a bit less FF being burnt and releasing more CO2 into the atmosphere. Plus yes they look better than FF/Nuclear power stations and especially pylons (but we need those to transport the electricity, and I only recently found out that they are re-purposed battleships).

Yes they are better out at sea, not solely for aesthetic reasons, but IMHO they have a place in the energy mix if placed responsibly.

The facts are clear, burning fossil fuels since the industrial revolution has increased CO2, trapping more heat. The more heat you have in a system, the more energy there is, making it more chaotic, hence why we are seeing increasingly more extreme weather events.

I have seen it myself when visiting the Franz Josef/Fox glaciers in New Zealand 10 years apart. I was shocked by how much they had retreated in that time. Caveat - I don't fly often, and haven't flown at all for 6 years now.

I agree with these Strangy, however Orbital is a Tidal Stream technology the same as SAE's turbines, albeit a different way of going about it, but both have turbines below the surface to harvest the energy.

Wave power is a different technology where the part of the device that havests the wave energy is at the water's surface, for example Pelamis.

Thank you OT, whilst it is great that Tidal is getting brought up in Parliament increasingly, I agree with Mr. T.

Hopefully Ed and his team realise that with policy and money backing the technology it can do what Offshore Wind did a decade+ earlier.

Not at all Strangy, I think that you've painted a very plausible scenario of how things could play out.

Yes logically it should rise, as it's multiple board members which is a considerable show of confidence, however this is AIM, so logic goes out of the window.

It just seems to be treading water, I had a bit of cash from a dividend payment, so added a few, just a few shares short of a million now. My buy is shown as a sell though for some reason...

This is the point that I tried to make with regard to Offshore Wind the other day, which Mehmet then articulated much better than I did.

As well as finance, Tidal needs strong policy support to scale up, hopefully that will be forthcoming.

I've had a brief look, but couldn't find the details, but wasn't Offshore Wind really expensive per MWh early on? It was thought to not be a feasible option on a large scale and then went on to surpass all expectations. I'm not sure how direct a comparison it is, but there are many similarities and you don't need such a massive crane at sea to lift the nacelle and blades (which won't be anywhere near as big).

Even if they completely ignore the Tidal sector (which I doubt they will), BESS complements wind and solar.

They don't seem to be very in favour of FFs, so the lobbyists hopefully won't hold too much sway with decision makers which may mean more confidence from finance for greener energy sources.

I used to hold shares in them, could have made an absolute killing end of 2020/early 2021 (as with most of the riskier parts of my portfolio, ah hindsight) but decided to hold, then later sold at a considerably less profit, but still a profit before it really tanked thankfully.

If you have time, what is happening with them now? I'm not in a position to invest in anything risky atm though.
