figures for a year, I think miss the point that in a year if we are still testing everyone, then something is really wrong.

Bigger money is outside UK, I agree. This board very UK focused. US would spend in a day what UK spends in a week. Germany, Italy, France would all spend more. I think they will grab this as soon as any test numbers are available, and production is ready, don't need UK to prove it. So working out revenue estimate, I would say forget Boris and co. Look at the world market, starting from first production run (December 2020?). Wouldn't be surprised to see production news is the next few months where countries secure own production. 6 month world supply verses 12 months UK...... why would we only use UK estimates ?

If +ve low, better to use a cheaper test and then retest. If high you high end. There is a sweet spot, no idea what it is.

I get 30M*52 = 1560 M tests. 144 M *10 = 1,4 Billion. so it works out roughly:-)

but to be honest my calculator ran out of numbers.:-)
Let's hope that commitment to spend this level of money becomes reality rather than a number just trotted out and walked back. Not so much as you say. My mistake.

I still worry a cheaper test is made, using paper strips etc, and will used wide spread rather than the better test. It's not about what is best, it is what looks good and "what the poll numbers say". Numbers on a bus, nurses pay rises, rules are for you not me etc etc. That could kick us right where it hurts. This lot say a lot of things......

anyway don't mean to be so negative, this is a great test, doing great things in the world, and will hopefully make us all more comfortable whilst saving lives. Its a bargain.

To play devils advocate...

whilst the need maybe for 30M a week, just UK, I don't think we will see mass screening if cost is 10 quid a head.

more believe in population screening using the poo tester, then targeting high infection areas, to allow a lock down to be milder. So instead of lockdown, supply test to every one in the area, and ask people to test. Run for 2-3 weeks and get infections down. Has flatten the curve changed to stop virus dead in its tracks ?

I am not saying that is best way to attack this virus, but the reality behind money, availability and behaviour makes mass testing unlikely for me. Still think there is a huge market, and if 30M a week is true no one happier than me.

Also whilst we may want to charge 10 quid, other technologies and tests are coming online. Avacta not online till 2021 possibly.
There are other tests coming, not a sensitive, but a lot cheaper, and Goverments may select those. 2 dollar test everyday verses a 15 dollar test once a fornight. Price maybe elastic to start but doubt it will be for 12 months.

If BBI get manufacturing down to a tee, could Abbot for example use design and ce mstk to make and badge their own test. What’s the difference from making an LFD with ce mark for Avacta and doing the same but with your own name?

I think this is a way quicker route to market than trying to make a new test from scratch.

This is why I think Avacta undervalued. Looking to much at Avacta as a manufacturer when the LFD design and affimers are more the Arm model. Affimers on thier own nice value. An certified LFD design which can be taken and rolled out, worth way more to more people.

Buy would be to get access to an established market or exclusive tech. Of course they could buy and then make it exclusive, but it's not the only tech out there.
