Notice that with the order frequency speeding up also the delivery and installation (August) is likewise. All we need now is JST to come up with good sized Eastern order. If we expand on existing orders then Control Room installations are already there so rapid roll-out. We could also take on a lot of orders simultaneously what ever size if only supply with no great cost. I would be surprised at a large funding requirement, if any and probably is a back cover. Loans would now be more available with contracts, Genus, L+T, JST. I have said beforethtese small loans are in their interest.

Hello Vas.. That seems the ultimate win,win, to me unless CC cannot perform. The question is why are they having to discuss it. Arqiva (Northern Contract) is JC's old company so it should be everybody round to Cambridge. Perhaps JC will update. I have done my best in other directions.

Hello Vas.. Trouble is in this Country money is only paper, red faces are a lot more precious. Do you think that Alt Han is going to do SMETS1 on the cheap given the chance. Costs are starting to mount now but that is because of past errors and testing and a telecoms company not thinking it through. Northern seems to be doing OK.

I still think that there is a reasonable chance that CC will take over the Southern Contract and unless anybody can prove otherwise I think that CC will be in all SMETS2.
There appears to be panic in all directions and with CC being possibly the only one with the proven technology to provide a secure independent, GCHQ approved, with interoperable building penetration, system that could get completion times back on track whats not to like.

Am I reading this wrong but can't CC do this work.

Hello Bamby.. Naah, no I will still be here just cant afford to deviate too much from my other investments. I stick by the knowledge that I have regarding CC and SMETS2. You only pop up when you want to have a knock. Perhaps you lost a lot of cash in early Cyan.

Hello Chianti, bit cheeky. First BB I read was your Sun 08:18. Could see no date on it let alone current. As you say you have scanned all of these documents and pricing. However I got it from a very reliable source that CC will be inside every SMETS2, just possibly outside to meet your Hub observations. The thing is because there are several elements of doubt at present,even timing now, none of us knows the exact situation. If CC software (note software) was included in all SMETS2 for free until activated then listed charges will not apply. May I don't know what I am talking but neither does anybody else. Years ago I my department was upgraded in a very technical project of local government, by time it got sorted 8 years had elapsed with constant updates coming and going.

For from it Chianti, if I was visiting this site I would not know what the hell is going on. We are talking about SMETS2 for instance, I have one view you have another. This is a signed and sealed contract so no competition and still we do not know the up to date situation covering our discussions of how CC is featuring. It's no use quoting documents that are one or two years old as they are continually updating their requirements and that is why newbys are sitting on their hands.
Look at India, all good, winning contracts and awards, then suddenly all change. We will probably come out of alright but on this change of direction the Market was not impressed at all.

I know that in this industry decisions take a long but after the AGM I hope that JC will keep us updated on any movements. We have made voluminous comments which would probably now seem difficult to understand from a new looker so we need some clean cut basic statements which the person in the street can recognise before putting their hand in their pocket.

Thanks for that, Chianti.. There were certain things attributable to CC that DCC did not know this time last year and requirements are constantly changing, look at Lords debate. A throw away comment, not attributable, was DCC was made aware of something, the response why didn't you say that earlier and reply was you did not ask me. There is an element of further decision making to come. Re India they stated they did not want anything to be outside of the box, fence Retrofit got forgotten. I am disappointed that CC will not be putting their advanced Omni into SMETS2 (unless that has changed also) as that could form the multi platform interface in most households, An attractive position to be in considering the emerging IoT.

Thanks for that Chianti.. Noticed at end of doc SMETS2 v4, a bit hopeful. Also last opening para - these are development versions and things may change. Wonder why they need hubs as all items in India for instance have to be contained within the meter. So if SMETS2 was within the meter and only one version (cellular+ mesh, free at point of issue) then that would make life easy for the installers. Thanks for your investigations Chianti, I think we should leave it now and wait for outcome or update from JC. SS would have been valuable at this point, I am sure he reads every word.

Chianti, that already sounds different. They were going to produce Cellular and Cellular+Mesh. Now they going to walk round with Mesh in their pocket just in case needed. Still think all SMETS2 will contain RF mesh inside activated where necessary and only paid for when used. JJess possibly SIM will not be paid for as not working. If RF used then it needs a DCU that can be placed in a phone working area or linked in a series until it can, probably only a couple as signal carries a long way. JC estimated earnings of £25m/£37m plus, so must be worth his while.

Cricky Chianti, that's a begging bowl. OVO saying they will do anything. Don't know if SMETS1 will be compatible but if not we will replace with SMETS2 just join us now.
I do not think that SMETS2 will have Omni-mesh (advanced, capable of IoT) in it but as there is a delay I would advise JC to consider that, certainly would be a leader.

Hello 2cv.. Now that is a bit of flanneling and why should the amount of times you change supplier have anything to do with it. Another Dept set up for PR. How are they training all these new engineers, nobody comments. A short course in gas and electric not good enough. I can a fit new meter but I can't rewire your house, more so gas fitting. (Corgi or the new name) .

We are now dependent on JC for further updates. I should imagine JST is eager and is also trying to establish contracts in the East. After all you cannot have a go at someone and not keep your end up, he did come on board to expand CC among his own customers.

Vas you may well be right but I understand that whatever is in SMETS1 it is not CC and is different to SMETS2. Remember the Minister saying they were working on it, they may have since sorted it. Somehow I don't think so, it will probably be a strip out job for SMETS1 as and when customers change suppliers or defective meter. If CC are in all SMETS2 (only my observation apparently) then it is not our involvement. On rules and changes SMETS2 complete changeover will now be Dec, do not rely on the written word until it is cash in the bank.
