Hello Vas.. I will have to investigate further. My understanding is CC will be installed ( dormant ) at no charge until activated. If so would pay to be all inclusive. Allowing for what you said why is the forecast, or am I wrong, that 'notspots' could go to 30%.

As the UK roll out has become a bit of a mess I would not be surprised if the final R&D for SMETS2 turns out to be one unit after further consultations with CC. Also can still see RF being predominant in the end. It's much easier to control.

Thanks for that Chianti.. A different light on it. As it is anticipated up to 30% 'notspots' (seems high) there is more practicality in just producing one source so that Utilities engineers can just pick them all out one box and if an area for some reason does not work, as they have found in blind spots and high-rise, put in a DCU and change over. Does that seem too easy. I found in past life simplest solutions work best.

Hello Vas.. I have spoken about SMETS2 CC for a long time. I got information from a very good internal source sometime ago. There is no payment for CC until activated for 'notspots'. high buildings etc.. so it is in our interest to get as many activated as possible. It is probably cheaper than producing a separate batch of meters and available if there is ever and change of policy. Should a decision be made to go RF, even at this late stage, we are ready. It would certainly simplify matters for Utilities who from my information do not know if they are coming or going at present. If I remember correctly for us to do the lot would roughly be £260m. income to CC. Peanuts in Government terms.

Thanks for that LTI. I was just reading parts of the Lords debate, Smart Meters Bill ,24th April. There is a lot of interest and I feel they are unhappy with slow progress of changing to SMETS2. I understand we are 'Inside' all SMETS2 but dormant until needed for 'notspots'. There is a provision discussed regarding possibility of should DCC not be proceeded with. My submission is that in India Smart Meters go straight to Utilities and as CC software is interoperable there is no reason why in UK they should not go direct to British Gas etc and as software can be re-programmed remotely that the customer could just be changed over instantly. Going back a while I still think that CC could be used in every connection, much more efficient. The techs amongst us may have observations..

Interesting that these sound like 'Smart Meters' not the basic ones (read only) that was being talked about.

Hello Multi/LTI.. If as has been said EESL is going for cheap and cheerful to satisfy the pressing India need to spread electricity to parts that have never had it before then one tariff could well be suitable. However that means all earnings for Utilities will be lower with a single tariff somewhat defeating the object of making money for a loss making industry. I cannot see them actually resolving theft, somebody will out smart them, and with more demand outages which a multi tariff (night) would prevent will be lost. Likewise in UK, tariffs which were on Economy 7 etc. will need to be introduced to attract evening/nighttime to even out our use.
I think that CC will see a lot more interest being shown by UK Government.

Have not got much time today. RE-read para relating to the three manufacturers GENUS etc. If CC is being included in all of their Smart Meters, like we are in all UK SMETS2 meters, that bodes very well as they may also include it in Dumb Meters just in case they want to convert them at a later date.

Well ITT its always risky if you go in the direction of an interested party but do not rule out a Government loan. Smart is being discussed at high levels and the new department certainly wants UK meters to get underway.

Well I think you have that wrong ITT. This is a new chapter for CC and if we start seeing RNS's giving enough forward movement of contracts, which is very likely, then JC will be able to obtain loans, may be from JST or even UK Government loan. This is within their range now, we are talking about £10m and that is not a problem. There is every possibility a loan will not be needed with reasonable income arriving by Q4. I would advise JC to go down the loan or grant path from say InnovationUK even though they are way beyond start up. Over the years JC has met obstacles esp India and thought his way round them. R&D has slowed considerably and contracts are coming to fruition and I think the House of Lords having aired the bill will push the Utilities hard. If DCC is abandoned I could see a major roll for CC.

That it the type of RNS I have been looking for. Not strictly accurate on facts but going in right direction. UK figures have changed but still good and will be the back bone of income to launch other contracts from. Like LTI I noted the three Indian companies having CC built-in. That is important plus JC enthusiasm towards pre-paid. Pleased that Iran and Bangladesh still feature as they are big contracts and JST will develop Far East. Money seems to be holding up for year-end so hope JC does not now spoil the RNS impact and ask for funding, it is not likely but he gets carried away.

Thanks for that LTI.. So are we talking about meters or IoT. Are these companies in the same group, I would think so and do they talk to one another.

Hello Vas.. As there is a lot of mix and match in software and we are partnered with L&T could it be that CC are in there somewhere. I say this because of the words pre-certified etc. suggests to me off the shelf.

Hello jake.. I will still go with strong buy for a while. Mainly because there is a lot of work out there even with new entrants. JC has to keep looking for niches like white watch and many buyers will pick up on opportunities for low cost secure and easy to install equipment. Many big manufacturers cannot do a deal so low and definitely a loss leader because they cannot set a bottom target in what could be a rapidly expanding market. I must admit that following of several observations by Colour I was surprised that EESL comes along with no track record in meters and looking for sub contractors, can pick up the work without so-called pilots or standards. With JST now active to protect his investment i should imagine contracts will shortly develop in his territory. I am confident CC will achieve £1 in near term and may be more. A big market but lots of players.

Hello Bamby.. what a load of tosh.. Woolley's no different from the other down rampers. AIM is a risk market, many fail but I do not think CC will. What is the point of being in a share if you have massive doubts unless it is on purpose. With software it is down to quality, luck and speed. CC has quality, its still looking for the other two. However if this new Omnimesh is all JC is making it out to be then the next 3 - 6 months will decide. The works done for Smart now we need final development of IoT without getting carried away.

Upon reading the RNS on advanced Omimesh I wonder if the new one has been included in UGVCL. If so it will be important for CC to keep us fully updated there as JC says it a valuable product for utilities. It would be interesting for JC to explain a bit deeper how Omnimesh will now feature in IoT and its multi platform capabilities.

Agreed woolley.. Money/profit talks. Although not saying CC will follow but several large software companies in 90's were running SP's on sentiment without earning a penny.

As GENUS seems to be the only stable company it could well get the lot for meter supply and would probably involve us if there was a need for our services.
Strange how the likes of EESL and ITI are allowed to create these situations and then sub contract out, surely it is part of proof of concept to be actually capable of showing the goods before getting the contracts.

To be fair woolley you, colour and ITT do exactly the same but instead of supporting your investment you knock it constantly. Now that is not logical Spock, if no confidence get out, you are not worried if others loose money so if that is your belief then abandon. Of course you may just be a mini MM with nothing else better to do with your time, LOL.
