I wish I has some gold ETF's but I invested in gold mining shares this and African Barrick, both have been terrible choices with losses over 20% down on both and has left me praying for a turnaround! At least it proves it is just not this share but all gold miners are down.

Well will probably buy some more next week to lower my average a bit now I have got some funds together, so we will probably see it fall after i buy in. :)

Well currently 530 ish ! If i buy a few more i could get my average down to the high 400's which may be achievable. I see gold has slipped to $1486 per oz so that isn't going to help.

Relax, the share has moved to the main market off of AIM with a six to one consolidation so you will have six time less shares but they are worth six times more. My broker is showing the price as 0.00p !! but I have the correct number of shares so I don't know exactly why it hasn't updated properly maybe a few teething troubles? A rise anyway, not much of one mind you. Still if it went up 3p a day every day for a month I would be happy!

Well not too bothered, it can stay down here until I get some money together to buy some more and try and recover my losses! :-(. That strategy needs it to go up at some point though or I could end up even deeper in the mire if it drops further!.

yeah, like molasses uphill in January! Hopefully our patience will be rewarded, this to spike up big time soon as it is well undervalued.

I still think the Greece thing will make markets very nervous. Markets do not act rationally or logically so this could still fall a bit but this has fallen so much recently we may have hopefully found a floor at 400p. Longer term hopefully things will get better.

No you are not wrong. That is why the price of gold is where it is today with all of the financial uncertainty in the world. However I thought like you in thinking that a rising gold price would bring share price rises to gold mining stocks which seems logical enough. However it seems things are not so simplistic as that as gold miners seem very out of favour with a lot of money going into physical gold bars and ETF's. However there is hope on the horizon I believe, sooner or later there will be a large upturn in gold mining stocks because if you look at the graphs of SP of gold miners against physical gold I think the gap has never been wider and could close rapidly. Hi. Well gold is going nicely at $1550 per ounce and as we know financial turbulence is good for gold and a lot of that around at the moment! The bad thing is gold price is not reflecting in the gold miners which have all taken a hiding of late. I really wish I knew where we are going but at least we have finished strongly above 400p so maybe this the start of the recovery. Fingers crossed. As yet I have not averaged down on my holding from 531p as i'm still nervous with this share. What are your thoughts on this one?

Your not alone in noticing this. Gold mining stocks have knocked a huge red hole in my portfolio! Some of the worst investments I have ever made and gold is currently $1540 oz!! Moneyweek is still bullish on gold and predicting $2000 per oz so maybe we will rise a couple of pence. lol

Yes mate, the whole gold mining sector is totally out of favour. This particular share has also had some serious issues of late, the latest being the Government tax issue which has really floored the S.P. On top of that there has been reliability issues, thieving, deaths and lastly rape allegations. Last time I invest in a company solely based in Africa. Seriously it is just totally unstable and unpredictable - Hard lesson learned.
