Read this yesterday evening and doesn't look good. In my experience PLUS are not very good at dealing with shareholder concerns, I wouldn't expect any RNS unless things get very messy and they are forced into a corner. Very disappointing all round.

News out in the states about a ban on export and sales of iqos devices for philip morris and altria. Both tanking on the US market.

Back in January it bounced from £7.50 twice so that seems like a good floor, of course it may not get there as since then we have had some decent results and updates which should have pushed the price up towards £10 or more but we are where we are back below £8 which is more puzzling to me. The disparity between how markets value shares and how they are theoretically worked out by fundamentals is very frustrating and puzzling!

It means closed end investment trust, the fund is 'closed' for new money unless they raise funds through a share issue. The shares in investment trusts are traded like ordinary shares and the value of the shares on the market reflect the underlying value of the trust, usually with either a discount, premium or par to NAV (Net Asset Value)

Open ended funds can grow or shrink in size as investors add or pull out money from the fund. Usually peddled by HL and other brokers. In extreme times a fund can be 'gated' to stop outflows of money, but an investment trust share will just fall and you can always sell.

FTSE250 taking a pasting today dragging us down with it. Can’t see any other reason.

Might be worth picking up some more at 750p. Forget £21 a share that is pure fantasy, this had a higher share price five years ago so really not been a fantastic investment.

Today is quadruple witching day when lots of option expire. Most shares have massive UT auctions today.

Totally agree guys, sadly many UK shares are trading well below what they should be. Any slight bad news and it collapses and good news we manage to rise a measly few percent.

This is not a gloat or anything but I just done some quick calculations and in just over five years my RIO shares have already paid for themselves in dividends . Since April 2016 returns have been £20.00 (including the big one due) which is just over what I paid for the shares in March 2016. I find that quite incredible and took me by surprise.

Of course with a £50 share price it's going to take a lot longer and I got lucky catching the near bottom of the mining crash in 2016. Anglo American would have been even better I remember them being around £3 per share !

Just shows what can be done with a little patience and ignore the market noise.

On another note why does it take so long for IG to go ex dividend, a full two months after declaring the dividend?

Jackson closed at $29.20 down 7%. I will probably hold them as Jatw suggests for a year or so to see the true value.

I am hoping today was an over-reaction and we will see in the next update for sure. CMC has come up a long way in a short space of time after numerous profit upgrades, the first negativity is dealt with very harshly as we have seen.

Brutal drop now 10% and no bottom in sight. Always history repeating itself with this share , I have been through it so many times, Hetherington quit, Tastytrade etc I must be stupid to keep on holding it over £9 as sooner or later it has a massive wobbly and years of hard won gains lost in a day. Worst of it is it is not on our own trading statement, at least will maybe it will take the sting out of out next trading statement as the market looks to have made up it’s mind we are missing guidance.

Strange, HL has them as ex capitalisation today. Jxn is trading in the states and currently up 30% with a $25 open price

We should be trading ex-Jackson today I was expecting a bigger drop. At 22p drop I am thinking 22 x 40 = 900p so Jackson shares will be valued at £9 or is this too simplistic?
I cannot find the temporary Jackson listing on the London stock exchange main website, any one got any thoughts?

Yes you only need to hold them untill they go ex div which they now are.
