Shaun Day has to be, IMHO, the most open, investor enlightening, MD's I've ever come across in my 40 years+ of investing!

Sadly, the problem with that, is that some people then expect every minutiae of company policy to be broadcast to shareholders before it happens!

Sorry, but, really! In some peoples eyes, Shaun Day can't win!

Either you trust him to do what's right for GGP shareholders, or you don't.

If you don't, then. of course you're more than welcome to your view's, but, just maybe, you need to look elsewhere.

To be frank, i just can't understand some people on here that, even now, can't see how open Shaun Day has been to shareholders over his tenure.

If you want more than that, then maybe you should invest in....I have actually no idea, whatsover!

It's essentially all slotting in to place as envisaged by both Sandeep Biswas and Shaun Day. Nearly 2 years ago now Sandeep Biswas was clear that they'd need further cutback's at Telfer before Havieron kicked in, firstly with the high grade.

IMHO, there's absolutely nothing more to it than exactly what's panning out now, as was planned some time ago.

In principle I have no real issue with issuing shares, rather than a cash payment. We did it before back in 2018 with DDH1 drilling, when we issued 11,363,636 ordinary shares as part payment for drilling services at Havieron.

Unless I'm missing something though, I'd like to know who the '3rd party' is?!

A bit rich coming from a company facing a £100 million lawsuit from thousands of investors who suffered losses from the collapse of Neil Woodford's equity income fund, which was promoted by them.

Gold prices are surging after a cool US inflation report reassured markets that the Fed could soon downshift to half-point rate hiking pace.

“It looks like the dollar died today and chaos in crypto has made good ol’ gold very attractive again,” OANDA senior markets analyst Ed Moya says.

“Gold is breaking out here and it could have a steady path towards the $1,800 level if dollar weakness remains.”

Gold miners have mirrored the uptrend. The Betashares (ASX:MNRS) and VanEck (ASX:GDX) Gold Miners ETFs are up 11.79% and 10.6% respectively over the past 5 days.

Individual miners leading the nascent recovery include Evolution Mining (ASX:EVN) +30%, Capricorn Metals (ASX:CMM) +27% and Regis Resources (ASX:RRL) +27%.

Behemoths Newcrest (ASX:NCM) and Northern Star (ASX:NST) are up 16% and 22% respectively.

Hopefully this continued rise will see further movement north on GGP, and possibly a short squeeze on any shorters, who probably didn't see this coming! DYOR

Gold UP 2.6% now @ $1750

GGP was up just over 5% @ 8.35p, but some bigger sells traded.

IMHO, we just need a sustained rise in the POG, rather than daily changes up/down, and any shorts will be squeezed, have to give in and buy back!

The USD has fallen over 2% against GBP after a lowering of the US inflation rate and the Fed less likely to increase interest rates.

US consumer prices rose 7.7% in October – the fourth consecutive monthly fall and the lowest reading since January. The rate of inflation was down from 8.2% in September.

The POG is currently UP over 2% at $1742...

Indeed, and, what's more, a PFS which was based solely on drilling at Havieron over 20 months ago now (February 2021)!

Even the updated MRE was based on drilling up to nearly a year ago now (December 2021)!

Time fly's, as do the drilling results, where just about every drill hole is finding more gold AND Copper!

SUE LANNIN: Investors were also angry about what's been described as the excessive pay package of new chief executive Sandeep Biswas.

Newcrest chairman Peter Hay tried to explain.

PETER HAY: Remuneration for the new managing director and CEO was set to attract somebody of Sandeep's calibre and operational experience. It is very much aligned with driving superior performance in the business.

It is clear that there are wide-ranging views about the level of remuneration and aspects of the design of the company's incentives scheme. The board will in the coming months consider with stakeholders whether further changes to our remuneration structure should be made.

SUE LANNIN: Mr Biswas was the head of Rio Tinto's Pacific Aluminium business. As the chief executive of Newcrest, his annual fixed pay of $2.3 million is more than the base salary of the BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto bosses. His total possible payout with bonuses is more than $10 million.

Newcrest Mining UP 7% today on the ASX.

Australia's biggest gold producer is tackling global and internal challenges but has suffered a "first strike" on executive pay.

Newcrest Mining CEO Sandeep Biswas told shareholders on Wednesday the company has faced inflationary pressures, labour shortages, floods and supply chain bottlenecks since the last annual general meeting.

He said the company has put in place long-term and fixed-price contracts for maintenance, fuel and energy to control rising operating costs.

"It means we expect to contain cost growth to a range of around six per cent to eight per cent for the 2023 financial year," he said.

Shares in Newcrest surged $1.16 or 6.4 per cent to $19.32 in afternoon trade.

Quizzed by shareholder activist Stephen Mayne, Newcrest chair Peter Tomsett admitted the company suffered a "first strike" on executive pay but did not disclose the numbers.

A so-called first strike happens when a company's remuneration report receives a "no" vote of 25 per cent or more from shareholders at its annual general meeting.

A second strike at next year's meeting would spark a vote to change the board.
